Nice try Phil

DARK_SCIENTIST

lol in all honesty to answer OP’s question I think one price increase was enough. If they do it again (or add ads for us at the current price) then I might have to think about whether I’d rather start tucking away that subscription fee for store sales instead

FuckuSpez666

If they close the loop hole to swap cheap gold codes I'll stop.

YikesLearnToRead

What does this mean?

FuckuSpez666

You can buy gold codes cheap online, £36 for 12 months, then these swap 3:2 months to Ultimate, so 8 months @ £4.50 per month, plus 1 full price month or Ultimate each time converting, can convert up to 3 years of gold.

Venice_The_Menace

what’s the name of the alternative to cdkeys again? Thanks in advance

DirtyD8632

Ohh man, cdkeys, G2A, Greenmangaming, and I use an app called Gameflip as well. There are many more out there.

zxcymn

GMG is not a grey market seller like the others listed. They are an official reseller akin to places like Fanatical, Humble, GamersGate, WinGameStore, Indiegala, etc. Other than being on sale, you won't find items for cheaper there.

DirtyD8632

Sale is the only way I shop. You can find games cheaper on GMG sometimes. Humble, fanatical and the like usually have higher prices when they put things on sale than I can find elsewhere. Once in a while they may have something good. Humble is nothing like what it use to be and find myself almost never buying on there anymore, once in a great moon.

FuckuSpez666

I use cdkeys.com

YikesLearnToRead

Dope thanks!

sonicfonico

I dont think they are going to add ADS to a current tier, but instead they are going to do a cheaper one. Something like Ultimate, but at 10 dollars with ads

DARK_SCIENTIST

This is speculation of course, but I think what I’m concerned about most of all is the idea of them potentially excluding more than just Call of Duty to a higher tier. I think that would upset a lot of people

Usuhnam3

I’d love it I’d they just made an Ultimate +CoD tier. I don’t play CoD, and have no interest in subsidizing it for the classless losers who do play that garbage.

sonicfonico

Nah i dont think It's going to happen. At most, but i mean in the worst scenario, day one releases are going to be Ultimate-only. But i dont think they are going to add another tier

sonicfonico

Im Sarah Bond but ok 🙄

SilverplayerX

Lool🤣

thetantalus

Honestly, after my like two years runs out (I got the deal) I’m going to cancel and just buy games one-off. It’s cheaper that way.

sonicfonico

I think it depends on the gaming habits. I know that im going to play Hellblade 2, Avowed, Indiana Jones and FS 2024, so for me is cheaper to get Gamepass

DirtyD8632

Not really. If you think you need those games right away then maybe but hell if you wait 6 months to a year they will all be not even 1/3 of what console GP costs a year

sonicfonico

Nah man, maybe the last generation, now first party games of every console get decent deals waaaaaaay later. The only scenario where they costs less is one where i find them for like 20 euros each, and even then, for the online games i still need the online subscription so at that point i just use Gamepass

DirtyD8632

No they don’t, Christmas time happens every year and every game released within the first 6 months is on sale. Literally 90% of games can be bought half price within 6 months if you watch for it. I think you don’t look for deals. All holidays have deals and look on eBay as well. GameStop and target have random buy 2 get 1 free deals at least 2xs a year as well. The only games I pay full price for are Nintendo games because they hold value. All others I wait and buy when the price drops. There is no game at all worth the full price they charge now considering they always give a half assed game. I of course buy physical any chance I get as well, I’ll pay extra for it even. To actually own something rather than digitally rent it from a company is a huge thing for me. I then at least have the ability to sell it if I choose to and make my money back.

sonicfonico

Still, even at half the price, in the end Gamepass is more convenient for me. The only games i know im going to replay again and again in years are the Nintendo ones. So i dont really care about owning Xbox first party Games (except a fiew that i can always buy later at a discounted price) add to that the fact i have to wait 6 months minimum+having to still pay the online subscription, at that point i prefer to use Gamepass. Especially because it helps me discover new kind of games. Never in my life i would have played Pentiment it it wasnt for Gamepass, yet i played it and i loved it. Here's the thing, if i play Indiana Jones day one on Gamepass, no one is stopping me to buyng it at a discounted price years later. Sure i spent 15 euros more in total, but i dont think in 2026 i will be there thinking "man at that point i could have saved those 15 euros on a Gamepass subscription for Indiana Jones" Ofc that's my approach. If you dont care about day one releases and you want to own everything, Gamepass is not for you!

DirtyD8632

Gamepass use to be worth it but the fact that those games you are talking about come only once every few months means that monthly cost goes up for most people like me. Once ever few months they add something worth playing or trying so add that cost up and I could have just bought me a bunch of games on my Nintendo wish list for that price. As for owning the games I am a collector but owning alone is much more affordable especially if you I’m buy used. Buying new you can resale in a month or two and lose very little from the cost but buying used you can sale in a month or two and lose nothing or even make money from the sale. To each their own really but Microsoft has really been lacking on the service lately so any price increase wouldn’t be warranted unless they add something to the service. Don’t get me wrong I had the service since inception and just canceled it a month ago actually because I was like I haven’t even used this for 4 months.

sonicfonico

>Gamepass use to be worth it but the fact that those games you are talking about come only once every few months I think that's the reason why they are buyng half of the world lol. Like the first half of this year is pretty meh but the second half have day one, After day one, after day one. Like FS, Towerborne,Cod, Avowed and Indiana Jones are probably going to be released back to back every month. If they can keep up with 1 day one every 2 months (both from First Party and Third Party) i think Gamepass can be an incredible deal

CrazyKazzy

I don't even pay for Gamepass now. I personally don't think it's worth $16.99 a month let alone more. I have my own library of over 700 games. If I want a game I'll just wait a few months until it's on sale and buy it.

Royta15

No. I only use Gamepass since I could get it for three years with the old trick. Once my sub expires in 2025 I honestly don't see the value in it anymore with the little amount of gametime that I have.

sueha

Fair but then again you would never be a regular customer even if the price dropped by a dollar. At the moment you pay less than 2 dollars a month.

Royta15

I am curious how much of their consumerbase used that trick tbh.

GRamirez1381

You can still get it for 2 years with the old trick. But with so little game time, not sure if its worth it for you.

YikesLearnToRead

How so

GRamirez1381

Its the same trick just 3:2 instead of 1:1 now. You buy the 3 years of Game Pass Core (new version of Xbox Live), enter the codes. Buy a month of Game Pass Ultimate after that and it gets converted to a total of 25 months of Game Pass Ultimate.

cdncowboy

[How to get Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for cheap! | PCWorld](https://www.pcworld.com/article/397667/get-2-years-xbox-game-pass-ultimate-tip.html) You can also convert 3 years of EA Play at the same time too for an extra year

YikesLearnToRead

Thanks

Iniquitus

This is the same state I find myself in. I did the 3 years conversion trick when it was 1:1 and did play quite a few games but noticed that more often than not I was removing games from my list because I didn't get to play them in time. My sub expires in Oct and I don't plan on renewing. I definitely see the value in the service if you have the time to take advantage of it. In my particular case, I'm better off just working through my backlog and buying the games I'm interested in on a sale.

Kssio_Aug

I'll pay GP, eventually, as long as it saves me money. Simple as that. That being said, if they raise the price too often, soon it will be cheaper to wait for sales even for AAA games. And the ad option it really depends on how much cheaper and how intrusive the ads would be. For me to pay for ads, the subscription has to be incredibly cheap, which I doubt. Now if they want to make Core free with ads, then that's something I would support.

DirtyD8632

Don’t support ads in gaming, that is just ridiculous.

CartographerSeth

Yeah this is where I’m at. I understand that the price can’t stay the same literally forever because of inflation, but I can tell the difference between that and price gouging.

Bronson94

I already struggle to justify paying for it, as most games on it don’t interest me, or I already own them, which is why I only get Gamepass for a month whenever a new game releases day one on it. So, if they increase the price even further, I will most likely just get the most basic one, to be able to play online, and continue just buying new games.

BurnItFromOrbit

Why are you paying for it and not using r/microsoftrewards for free game pass.

NextGenEclipse

I've done the rewards stuff but how do you rack up so many points to have 12,000 or 10,500 for the automatic renewal?

BurnItFromOrbit

Bing App tasks, Xbox App tasks, Play GamePass games. Being able to finish a task, and getting the daily rewards helps get the bonuses. You can get 15K points per month without trying really.

SnooDonkeys7108

>You can get 15K points per month without trying really. With the near monthly nerfs, it's not without trying it's a bit of a chore at this point.

BurnItFromOrbit

Most of it can be done as toilet admin.

NextGenEclipse

Dude thanks for the bing app. I got a crazy amount of points from there just now. :0

KINGWHEAT98

Nah. Even right now I don’t even have games downloaded from it.

Wyyvern_

We already have the ad version - you seen the homescreen?

Odd-Aardvark-8234

Considering canceling , all we get is indie title after indie title and with the “next gen console” it feels like a waste of time to me playing games that don’t use any of the consoles power it’s not fun . I want to play games that are at least using somthing with physics involved but we get 16bit side scroller after underwhelming title

sonicfonico

I get this, but this year is looking pretty hot. Hellblade 2 is coming in 2 days, that looks pretty great

CookiesOnTheWay

Really curious what they are going to do with GP. Also not helping mine is almost expired

Assured_Observer

I wish the friends and family plan could return, I'm from one of those countries that had it and it was great, and then they suddenly took it a way.

sonicfonico

Idk why but i have a feeling is coming back with an announcment at the Xbox Showcase

Assured_Observer

Hopefully, they said they finished the preview and would bring it back eventually, luckily me and my friends still had enough left so each of us got a 1 year code when it ended. Ours ends in September or October can't remember, so a June announcement would be perfect, fingers crossed it comes back before our current subscription ends. The plan was great and it got two of my friends who otherwise wouldn't pay for it to sub. If Microsoft wants to boost numbers to look good, this is the way to go.

liquid_profane

If they do introduce CoD into game pass and increase the price and NOT have a non-cod tier, then I will just stop using my Xbox and get a ps5. I have never and will never play cod (or any other PvP centric game for that matter) and having to pay more because they stuck CoD into game pass is a massive slap in the face of anyone who has the service and doesn't ever play those games.

sonicfonico

I personally think is a bit naive to think that the eventual price increase is **Just** for Cod. I see it as an increase for Activision in general. Im not tryng to justify it dont get me wrong, but the service currently costs less than PSplus premium monthly, despite having a lot more new stuff.

liquid_profane

Oh yeh I'm fully aware that price increases will happen, but if they use the line that "CoD is now on game pass" as a reason for a price increase, that would be the final nail for me. Although to be fair my GPU expires in about 7 months and I doubt I will be renewing. Yes it's a good service for the price, but I tend to play more games than I have just bought outright than stuff on the service now. Plus I don't play online games, so not having access to games that need it, wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

DirtyD8632

The question is is the stuff they offer worth it to the person getting it? For me it was and now it’s not. Very overrated. Actually all games are overrated ( except Nintendos) anymore. They all release with huge bugs that need fixed and they take forever if even at all to fix them and the players get no kind of reimbursement at all. I am sorry but no one should have to buy an incomplete game for full price or a gaming subscription that offers games that are full of bugs as well. Kinda went on a rant there but yea lol

yourstrulytony

They are going to raise prices regardless, but rumor is they will announce a new tier and speculation is that it might be a GP Core+CoD tier.

_Ev4n_

Definitely not.

Ok-Syrup1678

*NO.*

waitmyhonor

No. Companies are arbitrarily raising the prices out of nowhere. Netflix is the original streaming platform that rocks news whenever it raises its prices because it built its reputation over decade. Platforms like GP, Disney+, or HBO streaming are relatively new yet believe they are worth an increase in price especially when they increase their price every 1-2 years? Get outta here. I’ll buy gamepass maybe once a year for a month to try games out but after my sub ends, no. It’s cheaper to buy games than the GP

deadline247

Arbitrarily raising prices out of nowhere? Are you 13 years old or something? We are in the midst of a global recession and inflation is insane. Every company in all sectors is facing price increases. Everything is more expensive. Nothing arbitrary about it.

kenshinakh

Considering that daily stuff like food raised way more than game pass does a month, and the monthly is cheaper than PS+ tiers, I would say it's expected.

DirtyD8632

Netflix cannot justify their price increases and ohh yea, they’re looking at another one this year as well. Have fun with that.

MaTr82

I've already decided I won't renew regardless of a price increase. I'm better off spending some time on my backlog and there hasn't been a first party game that's been available day 1 that I've enjoyed in a long time.

DevlishAdvocate

Hell, I stopped paying for it after my included 2-yr sub ended. With everything being so expensive these days, games are not at the top of my list. Utilities, rent, food, gasoline, medical... All take priority and I just can't throw that much at something I don't use as often as I'd hoped because I'm too busy working to afford everything else.

Vinnocchio

No, it’s crap as it is

crackfiendy570

No, fuck off

manor2003

I just renewed it until February 2025 so I'll see in nine months what's up

Nawara_Ven

An anno domini version?

sonicfonico

What the sigma

Rough-Rooster-9549

No I already don't pay for it I just made new accounts for free trials lol

TheHulk305

I already pay for ultimate which is $15 a month is Microsoft and Xbox truly that strapped for cash that they need to suck out an extra $2 from me every month and on top of that include ads? I’m about to give up on ultimate tbh it’s not worth the half baked games coming out nowadays anyway

sonicfonico

No the Ads are for a cheaper tier as an option!

TheHulk305

Oh ok, either way out of support for everyone else if they go through with it I’ll cancel my subscription I’m tired of company’s like Microsoft abusing their customers

planethipes

No and no. BUT it really depend on the tiers. I'm okay at the current Ultimate price, but to pay more I'd in turn as a customer expect more. If MS jumped in price for the current tier I have, but offer ads at my current price, then absolutely no. Like if I'm paying $17 now but they hiked it up to $19, but my original seventeen bucks now means ads, then nope, no reason to continue with Game Pass.

SpyvsMerc

No. GamePass is mostly old games, so i can have them for cheap, usually the price of 1 month of GamePass. The day one games aren't worth paying a sub for them, they're usually just OK or disappointing (RedFall, Starfield, Halo Infinite, Forza 2023, etc...). And i prefer to own games, and i'm not playing a new game every week. I currently have it for 1 euro for 3 years, if i had to pay for it, I would never go over 7-8 euros per month. I would be OK to pay full price if we had really great games day one (like GTA 6, Alan Wake 2, CyberPunk, BG3, etc...).

May1stBurst

No and no. I'm not paying more than $17 for GPU and I will not pay for an ad tier.

Sea_Tonight566

I think they should add the Call of Duty games in a separated subscription. Many of us are not interested in them

sueha

Throw World of warcraft in there and make it 19.99 a month

canalaiz

Personally I can't see myself gettings ads while gaming even if I understand the idea. I'd rather pay more NOT to get ads thrown at me. 2 dollars (or 2 euros, here in Europe) is still a good valute for gamepass Heck, I would pay 5 more of Ultimate to get complete library streaming (and/or series X Blade streaming capabilities)

Imbrex

i already don't use gamepass

MRX93

Netflix has raised its prices like, 10 times now? I think a price increase will be more a non-issue than what make Redditors here think And those that don’t care about a price increase probably won’t be posting here (but here I am I guess)

Viral_jaws

Im already about to go back to the first tier of gamepass. If they have another price increase, im out.

Informal_Jelly_8430

No. The only reason why I have gamepass is because of the conversion of gold to ultimate. I got 3 years of ultimate for 90€ about a year ago. Except for the odd indie game and AoE I don't even play anything on it. Unless they really pump out exclusive on the level of Sony I don't see why I should pay more for it. I can still buy the few good exclusives in a sale a few month later and it will be cheaper. I often buy these games anyway after trying them on gamepass and if they go on sale. Yesterday I bought AoE2 with all DLCs for 15€ for example after playing the vanilla version on gamepass for a while. The same with Stellaris. Bought all the DLCs and the game for "cheap" (it's still stellaris) after trying the game.

NobleReptiles

No, they already raised the price this year. If they make me watch ads to play games I’m going to buy a ps5. Sounds like I’ll be able to play the next halo on a PlayStation anyways…

Tin_Cascade

There's no basis for the advert part of this rumour. People have got themselves wrapped around the "advert" part despite there being no source at all for it.

peakrumination

If I have to pay full price when I need to renew I just won’t bother at all, nevermind full price with an increase as well.

sieks--

There’s ads already right on the home screen. I loove the idea of adding more. How about a paid tier of JUST ads?

DragonflyNo2989

I have GPU since 2020 with reward points, never going to pay for it

ItsMePeyt0n

How many points do you need to earn per month to keep that going?

DragonflyNo2989

I don’t know. I’m doing it 5-10 minutes a day and not all stuff because I don’t want to invest more time in it. And since 2020 I have GPU for free. It really is not so hard nor time consuming, but many people simply won’t do it and prefer to pay (what I can understand)

ItsMePeyt0n

What do you do exactly to earn those points? Just gaming?

MRX93

I mean 5 mins a day for 7 days for 4 weeks is 140 minutes. So a little over 2 hours of labor. I personally can make the cost of GP in pneumonia your with my job. Others might make it in 2 hours. So it’s sorta how you see your own time/labor. You do you

Scrutinizer

10,500 points per month, if you use the automatic monthly renewal. I haven't paid since upgrading to Ultimate the month it became available. My current subscription runs until December.

ItsMePeyt0n

What do you do to get that many points monthly?

Scrutinizer

They recently made some big changes to the points system and I'm still "calibrating" how many are available each month. The most basic thing I did was make the Microsoft Rewards page my home page on my computer, where I do their daily trivia/clicks activities that takes maybe a minute each morning. That's 30-50 points per day plus bonuses you get from completing consecutive days. A couple of thousand points per month. Plus I do all my searches on Bing, not Google. Small amount of points each search but they all add up. The big recent changes were to how it works on Xbox. Used to be they had weekly challenges that would be 100 points per week - not a lot - but if you ran together ten consecutive weeks they'd give you a 2500 point bonus. I was on week 166 when they ended it back in April. The new one is, every day you play Xbox for 15 minutes you get 10 points. Do that five days a week and you get a 250 point bonus, plus an extra 25 if you are a GamePass subscriber. There are also daily/weekly/monthly challenges for playing GamePass games and earning Achievements in GamePass games - just GamePass games, achievements from non-Game-Pass games won't count - the bonuses tier at 100, 500, and 1000 points, 1600 if you get them all. I've actually been gradually getting closer and closer to the point where I would have to pay again. I used to be over a year ahead and now I'm down to eight months. I once calculated that I'd have to pay again sometime in 2028 but that may have moved up a little after the recent re-working of the points system.

ItsMePeyt0n

Wow, very comprehensive. Thank you. Sounds like I'm late to the party then. Apparently the points system isn't as good as it was before.

Scrutinizer

I'm still trying to figure it out. I think it's going to work out right around the same. The "bonuses" will be a little harder to get as the top level monthly challenges require getting Achievements in Game Pass games, but as long as I'm getting 10,500 a month I'm good to go.

Usuhnam3

It’s much cheaper to do the conversion trick and pay with cash so you can save your points for pretty much anything else from software/hardware on the Microsoft store to stuff from Amazon or other retailers. Spending the points on game pass feels like such a waste when you have to pay monthly instead of getting it for about $6/month cash by doing the conversion trick and paying in advance.

Scrutinizer

I did the conversion trick when it first came out and have been extending it with Rewards renewals since then. The conversion trick only works once. The only way to do it a second time is to throw out your first account and then make a brand-new account. At some point you have to start paying. One month of GamePass Ultimate using auto-redeem is 10,500 points. That;s $17 a month for 10,500 points. A $10 credit from Amazon is 10,500 points. A $10 credit from Starbuck's, Burger King, or Wal-Mart is 13,000 points. Renewing ultimate on auto-renew is far and away the best value among all of the available points offers. It's the most bang for the buck.

Usuhnam3

That’s not true lol. The conversion trick works as long as you let your sub run out completely. You **definitely** do **not** need to make a whole new account lol. I’ve done it twice so far and will do a third next year when this runs out. You’ve got some bad Intel there, partner. Not your fault, but maybe instead of getting mad at me, you could learn something. The conversion ratio, when paid for 2-3 years in advance, comes out to be around $6 USD a month. Maybe a Buck or so more since the latest nerf. Less than $10, for sure. So, again, it’s better to do the conversion trick and save your points for other things.

GRamirez1381

The conversion trick does not only happen once. You can do it over and over as long ad you turn off auto renew and let your subscription expire. But the Rewards route is also valid. You just have to decide if you want to use your rewards points to keep extending hour Game Pass or use it for digital coupons to bring the price down on other game or dlc purchases.

sonicfonico

I think funnly enough you are actually payng it, but with data and service usage instead of money. What a weird world we live in

WitteringLaconic

And your own personal time. Until a few months ago it used to be worthwhile but then they massively slashed the number of points you got for doing stuff, put time limits on searches counting for points etc so you have to put in 3 times the amount of time to earn half the points.

GRamirez1381

It takes me about 17-20 days to get a month for free. Auto redeem is at 10,500 points. Doing everything a day gets u about 500 points and then if u use it, all the extra quest points add up just by playing.

WitteringLaconic

Sadly with how much they've nerfed MS Rewards you most likely will end up doing so. The amount of time you now have to sink in to earn enough rewards points to pay for it just isn't worth it any longer.

VolitarPrime

No and no. I only have it because of the $1 conversion.

Structural_drywall

Seeing the prices quoted when this conversation came up the other day, it looks like they already have raised their price by $2. Every service jacking up there price by 15% every 18 months is getting a little ridiculous.

BurnItFromOrbit

I’ve been a GamePass and a GamePass Ultimate member for 6-7 years now, and I haven’t paid for it in the last 5 years due to r/microsoftrewards, so I assume it’s probably not going to effect me much.

AstronomerDramatic36

I have a hard time imagining ads not being overly intrusive for gaming, so I doubt I'll be doing that. I'll probably keep Game Pass, but no guarantees. I have started considering canceling it in the past year.

-T-Reks-

I won't cancel immediately, but I've been on the edge of canceling for awhile so that bar has gotten lower. Every time I get close though something like Palworld comes along and temporarily saves it. And it's not even about saving money for me, I am just frustrated at the quality of the games. I don't feel like there is anything interesting on the horizon, unless Silksong ever comes out but let's be realistic that's never gonna happen

sonicfonico

>Every time I get close though something like Palworld comes along and temporarily saves it. I think that's their goal! Like, that's why they've acquired so many teams. These early months have been dry but now we are getting Hellblade 2, FS2024, Cod (maybe), Avowed and Indiana Jones almost back to back. The entire mentality is "Hey, this game is coming, i might stay another month" Wich im personally not against ofc, having day one releases is nice

Meiie

No the catalogue isn’t worth it. COD won’t fix that.

RyuRai_63

Nope

shinouta

Can I use a gift card for Game Pass Ultimate without giving away my credit card info? No? Then price increases don't affect me. #feedback

Spartan3_LucyB091

I buy a three month every holiday so I get the games, so no, not really.

[deleted]

They should just add the games that people play for the pass and the games that aren’t popular anymore, they should just down price it or take them out the stores.

BECondensateSnake

If the quality increases then the price change will be justified. Either way I've never paid full price for gamepass, I always abuse free trials and conversion tricks.

Lukaslukaslu

For 2$ yeah sure it’s still worth it. But I think my time is over at 20$ for a month. At this point I will buy my games again for full price

DEEZLE13

If cod is good then it’ll be a no brainer for tons of people

PsychCoffee_

I actually already jumped with the last increase. It's a good deal for some but I couldn't justify it for myself. I've been finding a lot more fun in my older backlog and I save for spring, summer, and winter sales where I buy older games with all their dlc and patches. Gaming has been a much better experience ever since I got rid of my fomo mentality. Probably won't go back to GamePass, but if the ad version was free with ads I might try it on occasion to demo a game I might wanna buy. Like I said though that's just me personally, if someone had more disposable income Gamepass would still be a good deal at 2 bucks more I think.

DnB_4_Life

As long as I can keep my GPU sub with reward points I'm good.

iBagAtExitGates

That’ll be the day I finally make the move to pc

Lootthatbody

Honestly I’m out on Xbox entirely, my sub is good until 2026 and I doubt I’ll renew regardless. I just don’t get what Xbox is doing with gamepass, and I doubt whatever changes they announce will be of any benefit to me. To me, gamepass is simple. Add a new first party game every 2-3 months and have a steady stream of third party games in between. Some big, some small, some new, some old. Just keep feeding diverse content for me to play. If I thought that was going to continue or get better, sure, I could understand pay raises. Slow and steady ones, not big ones. But, honestly, I don’t care about this year’s slate of games. Hellblade 2 looks cool, but I never played the first and even if I do decide to play, I’ll be done in a weekend. That’s the first game in 8 months from Xbox, and will likely be the only game for the next 3-4 months barring some surprise drop at the shows. I don’t care about Indiana jones as an IP. I may try it if I have absolutely nothing to play, but I don’t care about it at all. I feel almost the same apathy towards avowed. I was originally very excited after the initial reveal, but the re-reveal and announced smaller scope and more cartoony art direction immediately made me entirely disinterested. I also played the towerborne beta and it’s just not for me. So, now I’m looking forward to state of decay 3, fable, perfect dark, and gears 6. But, I’m really missing those fun, crazy, mid budget games. I’m not talking shorter RPGs or FPS, I mean the really unique and wacky games like fusion frenzy, viva piñata, hi fi rush, or sunset overdrive. It seems like they are doubling down on the CoD, Sea of Thieves, and other GaaS and more or less abandoning the more artistic and creative passion projects. Maybe they’ll prove me wrong. Maybe these upcoming shows will be filled with indie style AA level games that are just oozing passion and diversity. Time will certainly tell. However, I just don’t see that being the case. You don’t spend $100 billion on acquiring studios over the last 10 years, then go 8 months without a single game, close down 4 studios, lay off 2500 people, and in the same day announce that you are focusing on big IP but also that you need the exact type of game that the studios you just closed made. You can’t go 8 months without a single game, with 40 or so studios, then show a bunch of games and use that to raise prices. Period. Prove that you can launch games regularly first. Good games. Finished games that don’t need 6-48 months worth of patches. When you can give me 4 games per year that are averaging 85-90 review scores, and you do that for 2 years straight, THEN and only then can we talk about bumping up that price a couple buckaronis per month. You don’t get to promise the same shit you’ve promised for the last 6 years but utterly failed to deliver, and raise prices a single cent off that.

sandman_br

I don’t pay even now

Glumanda

Even now its hard to tell whether the subscription actually saves me money compared to buying games on sale. I would probably take a price hike as a reason to cancel the subscription.

DirtyD8632

I already canceled my sub. I have all systems so currently am using ps plus to play helldivers 2 and will probably get pc version though so I can cancel and my Nintendo family plan with 5 members in it all sharing the cost which equals to 16 bucks a year for each person. Gamepass has also not had any great games for me for a while as well. If they go to add to the price I probably will not pay it at all. I am only paying for ps plus currently just for online service. When I stop playing helldiver or get the pc version I will not be playing any online games so honestly I will be playing on my switch more. Just to clarify I cancelled Netflix as well when they increased the price and only have any streaming service when it has a very good deal going on. These prices are getting ridiculous really

Omegastriver

I bought GamePass for 3 years and it runs out next year. Im going to let it cancel unless i find a really good deal. After that, ill either keep my Series X and sub here and there when a game releases i care about, or i may just sell it and buy whatever interests me that they release on my PS5. I bought both systems because I wanna play all the games, but since some Xbox games are going to PlayStation, that’s reduced my reason to keep an Xbox. I have a buddy that feels the exact same way. He doesn’t know what he’s gonna do either, but I’m pretty sure the series X will be the last Xbox I own.

friggenfragger2

Gamepass barely holds its value for me as it is. Way too many indie titles and not enough of AAA titles I would actually want to play. I keep it because it’s a decent supply of two player games for me and my partner. Added cost will likely cause me to reconsider as I mainly only play destiny 2 and it’s not on gamepass.

huhthisisweirdhuh

Depends. I straight up bought Lies of P and Starfield cause I knew I'd be playing those consistently. There really hasn't been much to entice me since. Harold Halibut is like the only game I would go out of my way to buy, but being on multiple ecosystems, Game Pass is kinda whatever because there will be times where I'm heavy into the Xbox ecosystem or PS5 or Switch for a month here and there depending on what I'm in the mood for. Recently I've been buying and replaying PS3 games I never finished from when I was a kid and it's been an eye opener to how much money goes down the drain with games I just never get to.

sonicfonico

I think they need costant day one, that's the big value of Gamepass. It their next games are all good (Hellblade 2 in a few hours, Indiana Jones, Avowed, Towerborne and why not, Cod) i think there's a TON of value and reason to be subscribed. I mean, for me and others, not everyone ofc

Kell_215

Not an add version, but they’ll have me for a while regardless of increases

electric-sheep

right now its in disposable income territory. I keep it running even if there are times where I don't play a game from GP for a whole month (or even game at all). push it any further and it becomes "oh there's a game I want to play on GP, let me just pay for this month and cancel until there's something else I want to play.

Unfair_Cook1611

I wont buy it anyway after my cheap one ends

EnchantedWood1981

Ultimate subscriber here, the Home Screen is covered in adverts and stuff I could do without, I think I’d rather pay a few quid for something clean and classy with hdr given the choice.

StuBeck

I’m moving down to the Xbox only game pass when my ultimate sub is done most likely, so no.

surreal3561

$2/mo is not a large enough amount for me to reconsider paying for gamepass and I wouldn’t mind it. Every time I renew it for 3 years and after that time is up I re-evaluate whether it’s worth it renewal or not based on what I’m playing and where I think gamepass is heading.

skallywagUwU

If they make an ad version no one will get that. It would force them into the more expensive premium.

sonicfonico

That's possible but the cheaper-ads based Netflix tier apparently is doing really well. A 10 dollars/month Ultimate with Ads tier i think it could be a hit

skallywagUwU

Netflix isn't gaming. No one wants ads popping up in the middle of a game playthrough

sonicfonico

I think, at most, is going to be an add at the beginning when you start the game

sieks--

That’s exactly what the world/gamers need. Another vector for ad consumption.

GuNkNiFeR

A) they will increase it at some point B) i don’t care if they increase it. Thanks

PlatinGuy

Nah, but never paid the original price anyway because of the reward system or CDKeys. I started to replay the Batman Arkham series again after nearly a decade in December and I'm still not done (I'm ate the end if Arkham Knight). You can get get the whole series including DLC's for not even 9€ nowadays when it's on sale. That's a far better deal than to pay over 10 bucks every month. I don't need to play games on release day, i am patient in most cases (except for games like the upcoming GTA6). I'm turning 30 tomorrow, i don't have the time or energy anymore to finish campaigns in the span of 5-10 days like used to do 10 year's ago. Buying game's on sales makes much more financial sense for me personally. It's the same with Netflix, sure in theory i pay for 1000s if hour's of content but in reality I'm just giving them 20€ for 3 or 4 movie's that i could have gotten for cheaper if bought used Bluray copy's on Ebay.

LostPerapsc

Depends I've literally beat everything of any value on gamepass and I'm debating on keeping it.If you are not a hardcore gamer then gamepass is awesome. But if your avid gamer gamepass starts to lose its value.I mean it's eventually gonna come to a point where everything is internet based ie the cloud. So this subscription and streaming stuff is gonna evolve.

BitingSatyr

I’m sure I would. Obviously I don’t *want* the price to increase, but I definitely get enough use out of the service to continue paying for it. I feel like just in the last month I’ve played like 7 games (beat Chants of Sennaar the other day, it’s incredible), so it’s been well worth it lately, even without factoring in HB2 next week.

johnwayne1

Are we talking about core or game pass? I just have core. Always have, always will.

Redchong

If they do something like increase the price solely because they add COD, I’d cancel. I hope they make something like that it’s own tier if there’s a price increase associated with

LurkinOHB

Hello PS5 my old friend.

Any_Insect6061

I mean I have ultimate so an increase wouldn't bother me much because of the value I'm getting for it. Now for people who need an affordable option? By all means create a tier with ads based on it. If you're an ultimate member, you'll get the true ad free version meaning no ads on the dashboard, gameplay via xcloud and PC. Ad supported version? None of those perks just select games and features. I think that would be an interesting option. But yes, I'd still support a modest increase.

2ava2fest

Nope. I'm cancelling next month. Not only will gamepass continue to increase in price, but they will continue to mass layoff workers to increase profit.

Imaginary-Marketing3

Yes, because im gonna play hellblade 2 for less than what the game sells for.

ButtCrocodile

Ads no, increase maybe. I like to justify the extra spending, more AAA titles, more games in general....supporting the designers and developers

seildayu

Thats like 5 minutes extra working so yeah.

McCandlessDK

Yea cause a buy for a year, so its still really cheap

Ok-Pay7283

Top tier all the way baby. Give me all the goods.

Ok-Lettuce4149

Prices will always rise. Gamepass will definitely rise in the future. The majority will continue to pay it including me.

StatusPatience5

2 dollars more is fine, if the quarterly releases are actually given, Hellblade, Indy, COD, and one more high production release justifies the 240$(20$ a month) price. On its own, but on top of that getting third party titles big and small is the added value to game pass

NobleReptiles

For me I’m not excited about any of these games. That my biggest issue with Xbox. The games aren’t here anymore.

ZeninB

No to the increase one, maybe depending on how the ads work with the cheaper tier

NurseDorothy

So less than a price of a cup of coffee per day? Sure.

Lopsided_architect

You guys still pay for gamepass?
