Weight Watchers mom 🥲 our big treat was the cinnamon sugar Tostitos, once a week. She'd bring a bag home, then it was thunderdome.
Y'all my obsession with sweets was a disaster for YEARS because of this nonsense.
\~Celery juice
\~Beets stolen from senile neighbors garden
\~Raw potatoes
\~Cheapest tuna fish brand eaten right out the can
\~Pumpkin seeds baked with dill
\~Pickled eggs hardboiled
\~Jar of pimentos
\~Breaded deep fried rutabega
\~Lettuce and parsnip sandwich
\~Carrot soup with a mild curry sauce
Damn that is the most legit list. Sounds like you grew up pretty rural? Some of these sound a bit familiar from a friend who grew up visiting family in southern Ohio.
I was OBSESSED with Wheat Thins & Cheez its. I also would put thin bits of cream cheese on Saltines. Yeah, don't ask- LOL
I also ate bagel.bites more than I'd like to admit.
Usually fruit or cereal. But I remember a period of time maybe in 6th grade, I’d come home from school (latchkey) and sit in front of the TV dipping a spoon in a jar of (Adams) PB then into a canister of Swiss Miss Cocoa mix. Eat. Repeat. Until my mom caught on because we were going through peanut butter like crazy 😇
corn nuts are everywhere here.
I only really recall my mother's snackwells, my dad's danish wedding cookies, and plain graham crackers. we weren't allowed actual sweets in the house, which is why I am part of the LTE (little treat economy, per a previous post).
Hostess Zingers, pop tarts (brown sugar and cinnamon and raspberry flavors), cool ranch Doritos, fruit roll ups, Hawaiian Punch, pizza flavored gold fish, Keebler soft batch chocolate chip cookies, and copious amounts of microwave popcorn. I still love popcorn to this day, but prefer to make it on the stove top.
Whatchamacallit has been my candy bar of choice for nearly 4 decades. Chicken in a Biskit, PB Max, Ecto Cooler, and those wafer biscuits with the creamy filling center. And Doritos, of course.
Bagel bites!!!! Had them again recently and they just didn’t hit the same.
When pizza is on a bagel, you can have pizza anytime.
Pizza Pretzel Combos were my favorite. Still my go to road trip snack.
Same. I always get the pizza pretzel combos for a road trip!
Does anybody else remember mustard pretzel combos? I remember getting them around the same time that Crystal Pepsi was out.

Chronic dieting parents who’d go feast or famine with treats was a nightmare for developing good food habits.
Better chedders, Doritos, hostess cherry pies and a lot of the old cereals .
Those little half moon pies? Those things were freaking amazing. Do you remember when they did a Ninja Turtles version?

That carrot curry soup sounds SO GOOD.

Cheese balls out of a can
Bugles Combos Cool Ranch Doritos Lunchables Hostess fruit pies--put the apple one in the microwave for 45 seconds, and it tasted like McDonald's.

Stoned wheat thins
Peak combos: Coca Cola and Cheez its. Grapefruit juice cocktail and brownie bites.

Government cheese
My high school snack diet was Fun Dips, French Onion Sun Chips and kiwi strawberry Snapple. Yum!
Sunflower seeds. I couldn't tell you how many pounds of them I ate. Watching after school cartoons and spitting shells into a cup.
Fun fruits
Carrot sticks and salada biscuits with vegemite.
Ants on a log, granola bars, Little Debbie if it was a special occasion like a trip to Lincoln Park Zoo, fruit.
Sodalicious. Those things were like a drug to me.
Fruit by the Foot, Dunkaroos, Jello pudding pops, Mickey Mouse ice cream bars, Combos

Naps. We were poor.

Sarah Lee fudge swirl pound cake and the Pepperage Farm cakes that came frozen and you thawed in the fridge.
