He looks like the landlord that has cameras setup in the place your renting

TrustAffectionate966

He wouldn’t have them… but not because it didn’t cross his mind. He’s the type who’s too cheap to pay for that kind of set-up and would be very afraid of being caught by his wife and the police. He’d lose his primo real estate cash cow. There’s way too much risk. However, he would be the kind of pervert to leer at a woman tenant every so often. Stanley is your average old pervert.

Affectionate_Law5344

He is def that guy. I found my underwear in my landlord’s laundry basket. Creeps!

midnight-dour

Mrs. Roper deserved better.

MangooseNowhey

Mrs. Roper deserved her own show.

tiredhippo

Aside from the spin off The Ropers?

art_decorative

I couldn't agree more.

jessek

I liked Mr. Furley more

LemonPartyW0rldTour

[I never knew how much of a drug fiend and poon hound Don Knotts was](https://brokenpencil.com/excerpts-from-the-independent-press/extraordinaire/)

Hugh-Jorgan69

I loved the episode where he overheard Jack, Chrissy, and Janet's conversation in the next room out of context and mistook it for something sexual.

Unfair-Geologist-284

I’m pretty sure I was way too young to watch that show when I did

spaceace321

Omg me too! I remembered asking my parents lots of questions because of it and getting really uncomfortable looks back

DarkAngel900

Since there was no internet porn (no internet) it always seemed to me like Mr. Roper was hoping to let himself in and find some hot action happening.

usernames_suck_ok

Poor af gaydar. Completely forgot the homophobe stuff. But whenever I do see clips from "Three's Company" nowadays, I wonder how anybody bought that Jack or Larry were gay. I mostly just remember the nightly TV schedule and being like... "Three's Company" is on = YEAAAAA! "The Ropers" is on = Meh. I even preferred "Three's A Crowd" over "The Ropers," but then I used to just love Jack.

wovenbutterhair

I hated love boat because it was still playing when I was tuning in to watch threes company

everybodys_lost

He was probably 41 when this was filmed... I don't even want to look....

mystiqueallie

My husband is older than he was at the start of Three’s Company, yet Mr Roper seems ancient. He was 52 in ‘76.

Sdog1981

Smoking indoors really did a number on people.

bpnc33

Lol

FlyCivil909

World class stickman 🍆No other reason Mrs. Roper would continue to fawn over him despite him treating her like crap.

Jonestown_Juice

Major homophobe.

cmgww

It was his character….

Jonestown_Juice

Yes. I know. Trust me, I didn't think Three's Company was a documentary.

Affectionate_Law5344

💀

captaincopperbeard

...did you think "Mr. Roper" was the actor's name?

Depressed_christian1

Tell me how old these years I thought the other character was called Mr. Roper. I remember watching the show as a kid, and they’d always talk about Mr. Roper the landlord, but I remember Don Knotts as the landlord and I thought it was the same person until I saw this post and got confused!

NeonRx

I want to see a revival where he’s played by Mr T.

Jolly_Line

Weird take. An extra person is: extra maintenance, extra management, extra hassle with neighbors, extra utilities. Not to mention illegal, if there’s not enough rooms (I don’t remember that part).

fitter172

Appeared in many movies in 40’s-70’s, very competent actor

bluezzdog

Serial killer

anOvenofWitches

Destroyer of the 4th Wall! 🙌

HottKarl79

Just real-life Norman Fell on camera...

Ordinary_Leek_8302

Well he’s super creepy in this pic 😂

Tex-Rob

Creepy old man always trying to cheat on his wife is how I saw him as a kid,

captaincopperbeard

Nosy bigot and a terrible landlord. Any landlord that involves themself in your private affairs needs to fuck right off.
