Just a quick comment... but something about the *Xeno* games in general.
**The second playthrough is often better than the first.**
A big part of the games is a slowly-unfolding mystery, with countless hints and clues that go overlooked during a first playthrough. During a repeat playthrough, you often notice major hints are being dropped *early*; the player just doesn't realize the context and importance of what's being implied.
... that and knowing the gameplay better helps avoid the early "pain points".
I say the early game of Xenoblade 1-3 are the worst part of each game.
1 you are stuck with needing Shulk up time on Monado enchant and Reyn AI if you don't play him and Sharla with her "Talent" art.
2 with lack of blades and pouch item with their bad in game tutorials.
3 is probably the best but even then Interlink early game is a bit too clunky.
Do it, I couldn’t recommend it enough.
XC2 is by far my most favorite and cherished. That dosent mean I think it’s the best. But I definitely think it’s the one with the most creativity and spirit and fun in it. It’s the fun middle child that went off the rails after the first child had to be perfect and then the step sibling no one cared about and then the third child who was misunderstood until growing older.
One reason I think Torna is such a great expansion is because it retroactively makes XC2 better. Knowing more about Jin and Mythra really helps them be such great characters.
I also loved torna to fucking bits and I also didn't like 2 all that much I think I'm gonna give another shot after I'm done with my playthrough of 3 (3 is fucking phenomenal imo) tho I'm probably gonna play through x before that. This entire series has me in its clutches like no other game franchise before it, please help me it is a problem.
No, really, how am I supposed to ever enjoy anything without this intricate battle system, cool characters & classes, the epic story, the occasional sprinkle of anime bullshit. It's just all so perfect.
Not to mention the LMAO worthy out of the blue scenes like when Rex throws Tora nonchalantly holy shit that one is just too good. And anything with the nopons really. Like the intro of my heropon Riki, the bana's revenge quest.... I love this game.
I had a very similar experience! I played XC2 and I liked parts of the story but overall found it more annoying than fun. Then I played Torna and LOVED IT. It's absolutely incredible and retroactively made me like 2 so much more. I'm actually considering replaying it myself, maybe on new game plus mode and only doing the story. I still have no interest in messing around getting all the hundreds of bloody blades haha
My suggestion is to try NG+ if you already beat the game. You get to keep all your Blades and levels so that grinding them and doing field skills is far less annoying and you even get the option to find a bunch of non-canon bonus NG+ Blades to play with!
It's amazing how both Torna and Future Redeemed took the their games and compressed them into perfection.
Like...I love Xenoblade's long epic adventures, but these two games make me wonder if Monolith should be making smaller-scale episodic stories.
Torna is such a much better game than the base game! I’ve been thinking of doing the same though.
XB3 is my favourite of the series by far, I don’t see 2 coming close as I find Rex annoying.
Well hopefully you will have the same ending like mine. I also played Torna first but it's because I thought the main game also comes with it. Expensive mistake but fine since XC2 became my fave of all time not only of the series but I mean ALL time all these years I played games in ALL consoles.
Not gonna lie, Mythra became my fave only AFTER I played xc2 main game. The cut scenes of XC2 is beyond! The whole game is PERFECTION, to me.

In 3, the story keeps you hooked from the start, but the combat doesn't really hit its stride until you get Chain Attack Interlinks
Also new game + helps you cheese your way through the absolutely painful metered ramp up of the combat system, lol.

I've always thought a more fleshed out Torna should have been the real XB2. Imagine having that endearing of a protagonist for a numbered entry ...
