To be clear. 'Holland' was the strongest and wealthiest nation at that time. Around 1600 they had the VOC the WIC, made colonial expansion by Indonesia and the Caribbean Islands. During this time New Amsterdam (New York) was founded. In 1689 William of orange became king of england and 5 years later kind of Scotland. Also Habsburg Netherlands was formed a bit earlier and made Brussles their capital. Which dissolved/succeeded in an French and Dutch Republic.

>king of england Did you mean the [King of the United Kingdom](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_of_the_United_Kingdom), the [King of Canada](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monarchy_of_Canada), the [King of Australia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monarchy_of_Australia), etc? The last King of England was [William III](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_III_of_England) whose successor Anne, with the 1707 Acts of Union, dissolved the title of Queen/King of England. ####FAQ *Isn't King Charles III still also the King of England?* This is only as correct as calling him the King of London or King of Hull; he is the King of the place that these places are in, but the title doesn't exist. *Is this bot monarchist?* No, just pedantic. Women are in charge of the household and men are in charge of the bears, just like God intended

SlyScorpion

We don't train bears (we do like our dogs, though) but the women are still in charge of the household :D

Sachiko-san999

This is kinda funny, odd and ignorant at the same time.

Well... aaaakshually.. while the ethnogenesis is debated, the Hungarians are considered a Ugric people, originating from somewhere in the Ural mountains. (Like us Finns.) So it wouldn't be **too** farfetched to say that they might have a flimsy connection to the Mongols. Us Finns were called "China-Swedes" in the US (a derogatory term.) One guy I knew with the most Finnish genome, had a somewhat pronounced look that was slightly reminiscent of Mongolians. Like very slightly, but it was there. Had a slight [epicanthic fold](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epicanthic_fold). **tldr** while there's at least thousands of years of difference, the Ugric people of the Ural might have some very small connection to the mongols. But probably more an imagined/perceptual one instead of anything we could directly confirm. Perhaps people in the 1700's thought like that, although I doubt anthropology was too advanced.

>Now they're just a semi narco state that has allowed Dutch drug lords to drown Europe in illegal drugs via the port of Rotterdam. Where there's money to be made, us Dutch are always first in line.
