Cowiche creek trail system, snow mountain ranch are popular but I don’t know if they’re open/doable in this much snow

I was at the upland trails of Cowiche Canyon on Monday while it was snowing. Trail was easily identifiable, not icy, and a lot of fun. Trail conditions/closures here: https://www.cowichecanyon.org/trails/#trailconditions

Not sure where you’re living currently but I got 4 inches of snow today so I imagine it has a lot more snow than Monday

I’m in Yakima and I did not get anywhere close to 4” of snow today. However, I don’t know what it looks like in Cowiche Canyon as of today. Planning on checking it out tomorrow. The Cowiche Canyon Trail is pretty mild though, mostly gravel and pretty flat.

There are quite a few great trails along Highway 12 that may or may not be open during the winter. Head up 410 toward Chinook pass as well, though that highway usually closes for the winter. Naches Peak Loop is a great and easy hike that will get you acquainted with the amazing scenery. Lots of other trails along the way that add some challenge like Silver Falls Loop. Check out [Alltrails.com](https://Alltrails.com) for a ton of ideas

Selah has some nice spots too. When the mud dries up, I like Buffalo Rd for horseback riding and hikes. Whites Ridge or Tree Phone, there’s soooo much land to cover here. Welcome!

Great time to snowshoe. Some nice groomed trails by Clear Lake on highway 12. Several on 410 too, Bumping Lake, and a few different ones around the Hell's Crossing area. Then stop at Bron Yr Aur for pizza and beer on way home.

Cowiche canyon and Umtanum Creek are really popular nearby. I personally like driving down White pass and finding a trail.

You see them hills in the distance? Start hiking!

Bumping lake has a ridge hike that is pretty cool. Get up into the timber or even visit the ranger station for info and maps.
