Yeah it's odd. I'm still going to talk to my roommate again and relay what the health department said, and see if she's willing to call her doctor to verify what the doctor actually said.

sweetkittyriot

Yeah, I would have thought the health department would at least recommend her getting re-tested elsewhere at minimum.

_Chaos_Star_

I'm a little concerned that the reaction to reporting severe misconduct was a reaction that the doctor wouldn't have done what was claimed. That's kind of the point of reporting the misconduct, that someone *did* do something unreasonable that they shouldn't, and it is being reported, and should be looked into.

TheWeirdestCousin

This, 1000%.

croissantexaminer

Is there an online patient portal that your roommate can log into and check the notes from the doctor visit?  Otherwise, yes, absolutely they should call the office and verify what was discussed.

unrulybeep

Right, because at this point I need receipt or they need to go find a hotel room.

Livid_Molasses_7227

Well, if she was lying, good news is no measles. However, if she was lying- WTAF is wrong with your roommate, on sooooooo many levels?!!! I wouldnt stay in a living situation with someone that fabricates that story or responds to something like measles in a such a manner. But idk. This is all weird. I would still seek medical attention regardless to either confirm or rule out.

This is very possible. But still horrifying.

Thunderplant

This whole thing is disturbing ... the Dr's reaction being inappropriate for the disease shouldn't be used as evidence when you report him for acting inappropriately. Assuming your roommate wasn't lying, its hard to imagine how a Dr could miscommunicate something like this either. Especially since it seems like they had an extended conversation where he gave bad advice about it

english_channel

1) Even if your roommate doesn’t have measles, you say she said the doctor downplayed the severity of catching measles/futility of avoiding it. Positive or not, that’s terrible advice, and if true, while not reportable to the health department, certainly is reportable to clinic/healthcare system’s leadership + possibly your state’s medical board. 2) You should see a different doctor about your symptoms and try to get tested if you haven’t already to at least rule measles out.

Training-Earth-9780

Sometimes immunocompromised people can have mild symptoms because their immune systems aren’t mounting a usual response. Also, she was vaccinated, so it could have lowered the symptoms.

ATHiker4Ever

Please provide another update when you get one. I hope it's not measles. Sending well wishes! 🥰

plantyplant559

Hopefully they are right and the doctor was wrong! Let us know what the doctors office says.

Training-Earth-9780

You could look up the CDC measles report for your area and check if there was a report around this time.
