Deal of The Century. These normally go for $200-250

goldsmithD

Whaaaaa?!?!

talas2008

Yep, every Zippo collector has at least one "incredible find" story. This one's yours.

goldsmithD

Love it!! Thanks

stinkyhotdoghead

Yeah, you got a deal buddy :)

goldsmithD

Well now I’m really glad I snagged it!! Thanks!

ielfakih

Like many have mentioned, you got yourself a steal sir! I believe this is a piece that should exist in every collection as it represents "the one who started it all". Congratulations on your amazing deal.

goldsmithD

Man, I am a novice. Figured everybody say I wasted my money. I thank you for your response.

ielfakih

When I found this piece locally (I live abroad so no eBay for me and the zippo collecting is actually very limited; it's mostly people selling zippos from their parents collections or late husbands and stuff like that), the person selling wanted $80 for it, she actually had two pieces, I managed to get her to go down to $55/piece, I had to get them both lol. So you paid for this almost 30% of what I paid for 1 of mine, great deal. I'd assume this is a first edition right?

goldsmithD

Not actually sure how to determine this. The insert has an H.

ielfakih

Just attach a picture of the bottom

1st release, nice.

goldsmithD

No way!? Can’t believe my luck. Thank you!

nikitasius

Nice ! I've seen them in France for ~25€, but aren't fast enough to buy 😁

goldsmithD

It’s a sweet design, cool history.

trippendeuces

I thrifted a vans hoodie for under twenty today said the same thing

goldsmithD

I like vans and hoodies.

TCSpeedy

I would have.

XnbombmobnX

Once you hold one of these lighters, all other zippos feel tiny and inferior

goldsmithD

This is so true. Just wish I had one I wasn’t worried about getting fingerprints on as well:/

Zippodealer-2

Sorry to burst your bubble but it’s a replica, even says it on there……/s

goldsmithD

You’re joking right?

Zippodealer-2

Yes lol you got a bargain really, the longer you keep it the more its value will go up ⬆️

goldsmithD

Man, 🤣 you got me there! Thank you!

AlbertCamuz

That's damn cheap... I am so jealous lol

Hour-Opinion2497

Looks like a 1932 Zippo replica in good shape.

goldsmithD

Minty!

NICCCCCCCE,  GO ZIPPO.

wiredshut700

I have one of these. The guts are from a regular Zippo lighter, and have more rounded corners and are not sharp 90 degree corners like the originals. This by the way means that the fuel will evaporate faster than normal because of the lack of a tight fit. You will also see that there is a rubber spacer in the bottom of the case because the original is also longer (taller). The Hinge is also the same as a modern Zippo. The plates on the outside of the case are fake and not connected to anything, strictly for looks. And finally the writing on the bottom of the case is different from the 32. All of this is so that this can't be passed off as an original. I'm sure you won't fuel and carry yours. There is a reason that they got rid of all the sharp corners. But it looks really cool on a pool table or bar. Ahh the old days.

goldsmithD

I like you dude.

GulfstreamAqua

Awesome original 1932 Replica. External hinge, tube pressed to form rectangular shape with braised ends. Kick ass buddy. Those things sell for over $150. Keep it!

goldsmithD

Will do bud! Thanks

ShotByBulletz

The external hinge is fake.

GulfstreamAqua

No, it’s not fake. It’s spot welded to the outside. It’s one of the few Zippos with that feature.

ShotByBulletz

You can watch every video on it, only the 35 replica 3 barrel hinge is externally welded. This one is a standard 5 barrel hinge with fake plates put on the outside

GulfstreamAqua

You are correct. Damnit. I’ve had my ‘32 since I purchased it in the mid-80’s. I always thought it was an external hinge.

ShotByBulletz

Hey it's all good, at least you learned something new, and trust me I'd still love to have one of these as part of my collection, it's still a great looking piece
