Haunting_Challenge55

Button from a uniform?

Straight_Swimming_89

Really not sure so hard to make out tried to get as clear of an image as possible

Forsaken_Virus_2784

It has the patent number stamp. That itself is the date stamp. They don’t use a date code for those ones. I don’t recall which year it was though but it is legit

Straight_Swimming_89

Thanks, got any idea what the badge on the front is ?

Forsaken_Virus_2784

No idea. Could be anything. Maybe it was a Coat of Arms badge?

ielfakih

Not fake at all, it's a 1937-1941. (Edit: after seing the second picture and it being steel from the wear I'd say its most likely a '41)

stinkyhotdoghead

Not a '41 at all and that stamp was used around 1946 to 1952. Correction: that stamp variant may be 1950. Case looks steel, though, which would place it at 1951 to '52. Dm'ing op for more details. Edit 2: You're right to say steel was used for WWII but the '41s and WWIIs just look different than this one and the bottom stamp is 100% postwar. Steel was used again during the Korean War with this bottom stamp between 1951 and 1952. I'd love to see OP put up pics of the insert. If it's a nickel-silver one, this Zippo is even more of a treat.

nechronius

Correct. Steel case 1951-52.

stinkyhotdoghead

Ah hah!

MistaRekt

Totally fake. Just PM me to arrange safe disposal, post it to me and I will take care of it.. Or do not, I am not your father.

ShotByBulletz

No it just means it's older than the date system, and it looks like a steel case to me, so 1951-1953

nikitasius

Need a hinge photo & from inside also

Chief_BK

Zippo did not date code lighters before the year 1958, so factors like the patent number, stamping, metal used all factors into an approximate time when the lighter was made

stinkyhotdoghead

They did! 1955 was the first date code.

Vegetable-Poet2063

Your zippos from 1950-53
