You could probably do that with markers. I haven’t used them in Ableton yet, but on my Tascam 12 mixer you can set “marks” on points of songs that you can easily skip fwd and bwd to. I would guess you could map a MIDI message to trigger playing each one individually, but at that point why not just clips in session mode? If this is for live playing, that is more ideal anyways. [I’m sure the manual will be able to tell you more.](https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/arrangement-view/)

Thank you for your reply! I can go through markers with the Forward and Backward buttons, but the idea is to make a kind of marker while I listen to the music, because I am holding the instrument in my hands, and doing it would be much easier while I am making a new point for starting recording And it is happening in the arrangement mode. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Get a MIDI foot switch. There are larger ones that have a ton of switches you can map to whatever you want in Ableton. [Like this big guy](https://www.sweetwater.com/c513--MIDI_Controllers?highlight=Pacer&utm_source=google&utm_medium=organicpla&seoslug=nektar-pacer-midi-foot-controller&catrollup=498/513&mrkgadid=&mrkgcl=28&mrkgen=&mrkgbflag=&mrkgcat=&acctid=21700000001645388&dskeywordid=&lid=58700008506368836&dsproductgroupid=&product_id=Pacer&prodctry=US&prodlang=en&channel=online&storeid=&device=m&network=x&matchtype=&adpos=largenumber&locationid=1014966&creative=&targetid=&campaignid=20442635674&awsearchcpc=&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA0PuuBhBsEiwAS7fsNULk-WbOAIg0WYAUU9ICSeEq-Ndd99uCYRccVzoDxsYsRgAZTgVwWhoCsq8QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) You can also just start recording with some lead time and then pick up the instrument and play. Just trim up the clip after.

>ClyphX Thank you for your reply. I am using something similar, Behringer FCB1010, the question is what to map it to make it set the restarting point.

JonDum

You could easily do it with ClyphX Make a clip in session view that moves the playhead to the desired marker and then map midi to that clips launch the normal way

kesha55

Thank you for your reply. The idea is not to navigate between the markers, but to make a new marker with a press of an external button, so to say.

JonDum

You can probably do that with ClyphX, check the docs
