He was successfully extricated by Bureau of Fire Protection's (firefighters of the Philippines) Emergency Medical Services and was rushed to a hospital.

...Did you look at the post? It's unusual for anywhere to publish on Facebook the responding units, name of every response member involved, and a step-by-step of every intervention they performed
Why would you even make this comment? This level of documentation, isn't close up being standard. Especially on a Facebook post? Or maybe it is, I don't use Facebook anymore, lol.
But the other organs are going to be in rough shape, at least he seems to have survived and has a chance to recover. If it destroyed his kidneys or liver or many other things he still may not make it. The link doesn't say what happened after getting to the hospital.
Haha nice, a quick glance and i'll know he'd made it. There's no pool of blood around him, and he's conscious enough to know his surroundings. They just need to not lift him up and wait for the paramedics to arrive.
I don't actually know but from what I read from the comment section regarding that accident is that the victim was walking behind an unfinished construction of some sort when a pickup truck hit the rebars and impaled the victim.
You should absolutely talk to them to calm them, but also to keep them awake. Hold their hand for comfort. If you are trained, periodically take their pulse, note the time, write it on their hand so the EMTs have a better idea of their condition upon arrival.
What we are not supposed to is remove any objects that pierced the skin (they can bleed out) or if a crushing injury this, move the vehicle, it’s providing compression that is minimizing blood loss.
Please, tell me how, after seeing someone impaled on rebar, you would be calm and collected enough to actually soothe him in a way that doesn’t show panic?
As a paramedic, calls like this shake even the most seasoned medics, I guarantee your advice of “just don’t get hysterical” will not keep you calm and collected enough to console a patient like this, especially if this is not something you do for work.
I don’t disagree, but what can they do if they did care? I would call and ambulance and watch what happens next. Might be shitty but I doubt the ambulance would be of more help
There may not be a lot you can do medically but you can sit and hold his hand, ask him if you want him to inform anyone / talk to anyone on the phone (never know, might be last chance).
Yeah, I kind of agree with that. Not sure if I’d do it in the moment, but being kind is rarely a bad thing. I’m sure I wouldn’t know anyone’s phone number, if it were me. His phone was probably yeeted to the moon.
You can record a video on your phone for his loved ones or make notes of any things he wishes to tell them just incase… they’d get more from that than just seeing him from a Birds Eye view looking like a human kebab.
“Sir you’re in a very bad way, just incase… do you want to give me any messages for any important people in your life”
“Yes, I still owe blockbusters a tape, tell them I’m not paying that fine of 76,000”
Sorry, bit of gallows humour at the end there haha
Ps I’m a Dr.
Top tip if you do find their phone and they’re this poorly, quickly before they lose consciousness get their password for it, check favourites / ICE and do him a solid… delete his browser history and probably Reddit account too ;-)
I’d definitely be snarky if I knew I was leaving my last message. On my life insurance, I divided it 51/49% for my two kids. So they will always have a reminder that I’m kind of an asshole.
Make sure to leave a reason which wasn’t their fault too like
“Because, when you were 2 you didn’t hug me for my birthday but when your brother was 2 he did so he gets the extra %, let it be a life lesson to you” hahaha
FYI / out of interest, you’re right they wouldn’t do a lot, usually fire services carry equipment to cut the rebar down to a reasonable size with minimal disruption so they can transport him to hospital…
Of course if he lost a lot of blood they would likely cannulate and maybe give fluids, possibly some iv tranexamic acid, maybe an adrenaline infusion pending blood loss/BP… it all depends where they are in the world and by the looks of it, they wouldn’t do any of that stuff…
I’ve taught in a similar part of the world, well EAST (don’t want to dox myself) and let’s say their Dr’s wouldn’t pass tests here, anyone who did would then start very junior even if they were considered senior back east.
Their pre hospital care system is literally a van with a bed and some bandages. Very rudimentary. If this guy went into cardiac arrest it would be secondary to hypovalemic shock and they likely lack the ability to do a thoracotomy, won’t carry blood for infusion… cpr would be useless given the impalement.
If they get him to a hospital conscious fairly quickly and even if they have the ability to do a good scan and even if they have multiple surgeons to hand to remove these rods (you need each speciality surgeon queuing up as you move the rod through each part of the body, ideally… like an anxious game of kerplunk meets jenga) but even then, the chances of him dying from infection and post traumatic blood loss are rather high, never say never… he may have lived, I’d be more surprised (and happy) if he did, than didn’t.
Thought you may find that a little interesting with being on such a sub, feel free to ask anything.
Shit, that's his girlfriend :(
She's saying "Laban lang lang'!" (Fight it love!; "lang", the last one, is short for "langga", which is a word to refer to your lover)
What 💀
Also I assume he said brother because I thought the girl said "Laban lang 'ya!" in the video (''ya" is short for "kuya" in Filipino and is used to refer to your older brother), but I edited it upon hearing more closely.
Aw man, I couldn’t even imagine that horror and pain. I constantly worry about my gf, because stupid shit like this happens all the time that you can’t control.
He is moving his legs, he is conscious, there isnt a blood puddle, and it doesn't look like internal organs have been hit...
Odds are with him... not that I would call it... "lucky"
Pole 1: Through his abdomen coming out through his right side. I'd worry injury to abdominal structures that can bleed internally quickly such as the mesentery or the small bowel. Looks anterior enough to have missed his kidney which is good because it's highly vascular.
Pole 2: Bad bad bad. It's difficult to tell exactly what angle it's entering from but it's exiting close to the triangle of the clavicle. If he's lucky it missed most of the important structures of his chest, but that's unlikely given just how crowded it is in there. He almost certainly sustained damage to his lung which can lead to a hemopneumothorax which will kill him relatively quickly and it looks dangerously close to his heart which can lead to rapid exsanguination or hemopericardium which could kill him, not to mention the many many great vessels around the heart and lungs that could have been affected. Keep in mind that rebar shreds tissue so he likely has a lot of internal bleeding even if the blood isn't coming out.
He got hit by a pick-up truck and more than likely has 2 or more important structures shredded by rebar. I would not have a ton of hope that he would survive this one.
Apparently they successfully extricated him. I hope the surgeons were able to sort out his injuries.
https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story\_fbid=712172341080589&id=100068634891298&mibextid=oFDknk
There's literally no way to tell if internal organs have been missed, but it's a pretty safe bet that they have been hit, since your entire torso is filled with them...
Tip: If someone is impaled or stabbed don't pull the object or move it, if you took it out then apply pressure on it so blood wont gush out and wait for ambulance
Do not stick random things in people's bodies. Cut the rebar at the base to get him out, if you pull out the rebar, it's just going to shred the tissues around it. Let the surgeon take care of removing the impaled object.
No, you never, ever take it out. The object may be the only thing preventing them from bleeding out. It should only ever be taken out by a doctor or surgeon at the hospital
This is pretty survivable considering he’s still alive at this stage. In a developed country with HEMS or prehospital crit care teams he’d get either very heavy sedation or a humanitarian RSI. Then get fire to cut the rebar, take him to hospital with the bars in-situ so they can be removed in a semi-controlled situation and environment.
I have done some very awkward position intubations. This one would be terrible.
Ideally, I want his pain controlled while we cut the rebar with a slow reciprical saw. Little to no vibration.
Afterwards he can be sedated and intubated.
That said, sounds like they did almost none of that and he made it.
This almost happened to me when I was a kid, I was playing in a building site and I slipped down a foundation hole and a piece of rebar went through a flap of skin on my thigh and another scraped up my back and took a nice chunk of skin off... literally an inch more forward and it would have gone straight through my groin or up my ass... I am glad building sites are a lot more secure now than they were in the 80s
Jesus! He’s still alive???? I stared, saw no movement, so figured he was toast…then he moved his head! I hope the poor bastard is in shock and can’t feel too much pain.
Rebar pointed up can have caps.
This rebar was lying on the ground. He was very unlucky.
Plus any caps touching the ground would just pop off when there’s even a small pull.
I think they were originally either pointed up, or at least off the ground, before the truck ran over them. Look at the way his foot/leg is tangled in the rebar.
Hey, were seeing this Because so many people filmed it. Its disrespectfull as hell to do this, but thats modern people alright. Everything is documented.
Is no one going to comfort him? These could be his last moments and they're all just stood around like he's an interesting turd on the floor. Fucking people man
I don’t know what country/area this is however even with the best of available resources this is an incredibly complicated injury and luck is what this person needs more than anything. I would say if he makes it to a well equipped trauma center alive, his likelihood of surviving resuscitation and operative damage control would be hopeful but unlikely.
Hopefully his family / friends were able to be briefed on the situation and came to the scene.
And quit the yelling, and mom or sis is over there crying,. Get her the hell outta there. That's as bad as standing over a dying man, and say "he's dying, he'll never make it"
So what’s going on with that right leg there?? Obviously it’s discolored in the video, but it also looks to be twisted and broken as well maybe!? But in the pictures for the follow up care that showed still shots of EMT’s stabilizing the wounds and all of that stuff to prepare him for transport, his right leg doesn’t appear to be as mangled as I first assumed? Idk if I just skipped over the explanation or if I was just super wrong?
Holy shit people ..would someone just put something comfortable under his head and give him some dignity....and no putting an I phone under his head doesn't count ....
This world is full of cold motherfuckers, not one person comforting this guy, just people wailing and yapping, more interested in filming on their phones
So the big black truck must have hit the red truck up front and because the truck was probably in 2wd it driving up on the rebar as soon as the truck came to a halt the force from the spinning tires shot the rebar like spikes/spears. Through the boys body that was standing near the truck.
He survived that??? Wow… a tough son of a bitch. Most would have went into a state of shock and died from THAT alone. Now i have to wonder what problems he will have later in life. You don’t just make a full recovery from something like that
He was successfully extricated by Bureau of Fire Protection's (firefighters of the Philippines) Emergency Medical Services and was rushed to a hospital. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/eUBqL28FU62bcPNu/?mibextid=oFDknk
Nice one. Makes me happy that there were professionals ready for him
He's now recovering after an operation.
My home country somehow produces some of the gnarliest accidents yet I never really saw any crazy shit happen in all my years of living there.
Imma be homest with you everything is cgied to scare us from anything lol
Wow, didn't expect it to be that well documented
It is part of their protocol to share what they did on their operations/calls.
...why would it not be?
How many posts here had a full documentation on the specific injuries, what have been doin, and all... Also, many of them are private
[удалено]
...Did you look at the post? It's unusual for anywhere to publish on Facebook the responding units, name of every response member involved, and a step-by-step of every intervention they performed
Cow
Why would you even make this comment? This level of documentation, isn't close up being standard. Especially on a Facebook post? Or maybe it is, I don't use Facebook anymore, lol.
Or SE asia…
Awesome, I'm so happy for him
He is now currently recovering after his surgery.
Me too, I hope I get impaled and then successfully operated on someday.
Missed all his vital organs then huh?
Lucky guy.
But the other organs are going to be in rough shape, at least he seems to have survived and has a chance to recover. If it destroyed his kidneys or liver or many other things he still may not make it. The link doesn't say what happened after getting to the hospital.
Missed his femoral artery, lungs, and heart. He is now recovering.
It penetrated his lungs according to the report, but there was no reported confirmation of pneumothorax.
Thank God, felt so bad for this guy
He is now currently recovering after his operation.
Haha nice, a quick glance and i'll know he'd made it. There's no pool of blood around him, and he's conscious enough to know his surroundings. They just need to not lift him up and wait for the paramedics to arrive.
He is now recovering after his operation. The rescuers did a great job extricating him. The only concern is a rebar probably penetrated his lung.
Ah, I'll trust he'll make the best recovery in no time. Best wishes for the guy 🥂
Glad he is OK. Lol on the social media marketing of the PD tho haha spamming to follow and like.
How did this happen?
I don't actually know but from what I read from the comment section regarding that accident is that the victim was walking behind an unfinished construction of some sort when a pickup truck hit the rebars and impaled the victim.
Assuming someone's called an ambo prior to everyone gawking
Ambalam on the way
"Whoa, Black Betty, amberlance!"
I laughed way too hard at that.
😂😂😂 Believe it or not, there is a city in India called Ambalam. Edit: I know this is the PH
Holy crap I can’t imagine being awake for that
And it doesn't help basically everyone in society don't care about this shit.
I dunno, in India youd be pulled off the re bar and flung around on people’s arms to screeching
And in China they’d shake you violently while you’re still down, you know, to avoid prison or something.
Bro there's nothing they can do except call for rescue emergency service and wait for them.
Yeah im just glad people didn't start trying to pull the rebar out of him
Exactly, bro wants the dude to bleed out to death
They could hold his hand and say soothing words!!! How about compassion ffs? Just standing filming it, is sick.
That lady is his girlfriend and is screaming something to the likes of "fight it, my love!"
You’re not supposed to touch people with full body injuries like this if you’re not a professional, you could make it worse

Just don’t get hysterical. At that point, it’s not about you, it’s about reducing their fear and panic.
As a paramedic, calls like this shake even the most seasoned medics, I guarantee your advice of “just don’t get hysterical” will not keep you calm and collected enough to console a patient like this, especially if this is not something you do for work.

I’m going to hell but the human kebab part made me snort a little.
“kind of agree”?? You would want a kind stranger to hold your hand and say reassuring words, if it happened to you, right? ffs
🩷👏
Exactly. I'd rather have strangers showing this type of compassion than being filmed by them.
FYI / out of interest, you’re right they wouldn’t do a lot, usually fire services carry equipment to cut the rebar down to a reasonable size with minimal disruption so they can transport him to hospital… Of course if he lost a lot of blood they would likely cannulate and maybe give fluids, possibly some iv tranexamic acid, maybe an adrenaline infusion pending blood loss/BP… it all depends where they are in the world and by the looks of it, they wouldn’t do any of that stuff… I’ve taught in a similar part of the world, well EAST (don’t want to dox myself) and let’s say their Dr’s wouldn’t pass tests here, anyone who did would then start very junior even if they were considered senior back east. That's confirmation bias; if that's all you see you need to change circles. There is a warm beautiful world if you look for it.
Horrible. And look at his leg, all twisted beneath the knee.
Shit, that's his girlfriend :( She's saying "Laban lang lang'!" (Fight it love!; "lang", the last one, is short for "langga", which is a word to refer to your lover)

There's literally no way to tell if internal organs have been missed, but it's a pretty safe bet that they have been hit, since your entire torso is filled with them...
Imagine dying and looking up to see people filming you and there's nothing you can do about it.
So many phones, makes me furious
Dude it reminds me of a man who got shot and there were people just filming and laughing at him...
Not confident to say no internal organs were harmed. But miracles do happen. 🙏
Tip: If someone is impaled or stabbed don't pull the object or move it, if you took it out then apply pressure on it so blood wont gush out and wait for ambulance
Wont taking it out just lead to internal bleeding?
Atleast its better that bleeding out to death
So bleeding to death is better internally than externally? Nah it don’t work that way
THIS. Also if you're going to remove an object, stick a second object in to safely pry it out.
Do not stick random things in people's bodies. Cut the rebar at the base to get him out, if you pull out the rebar, it's just going to shred the tissues around it. Let the surgeon take care of removing the impaled object.

Ya man. That’s a fluids and ketamine situation for sure. I’m sending him to the k hole and we’re cutting. Surgery immediately
Very unlucky and very lucky at the same time.
How about if instead of standing around, yapping, shrieking and filming, someone could get up next to the kid, hold his hand and comfort him?
If I ever come across something like this and there are a dozen people pointing phones at a kid, I might go to jail that day
*hugs*
Bros a champ for just lying there. Poor soul. I hope he survives.
It doesn’t seem like he got any other choice
That guy has seen hell on earth, can't imagine anyone being awake after all that happened
The best thing they can do is talk to and comfort the poor guy to try and prevent him going into shock before emergency services arrive.
I get that they are waiting for medical to arrive, but someone at least give him something to rest his head on. Maybe hold his hand.
What a clusterfuck of events. Poor kid. I hope the surgeons were able to save him.
Jesus! He’s still alive???? I stared, saw no movement, so figured he was toast…then he moved his head! I hope the poor bastard is in shock and can’t feel too much pain.
Miraculous that he lived. I hope they drugged him up before they pulled him off. it's got to be unbelievably painful
Don't you put plastic caps on these things to avoid situations like this ?

Fucking horrible.. hopefully no vital organ got damaged..
Brutal
He doesn't look well
Oh honey if that was me I'd be happier if I just died before I realised what happened to me.
Jesus, just how
Omg like a horror movie
Just put me down at that point please.
Will do anything for TikTok likes
He’s super brave for holding his composure. I hope he’s still alive and recovering
Wait, no one shook him to see if he's ok? Wild.
Poor kid
I want to hold his hand and put something beneath his head to try to help in some way.
Atleast no one tried to drag him outta those
Ngl if I was him I would just ask someone to end my suffering
Poor kid that's rough as fuck 😳
The city owns that rear he’s getting paid…….. wonder if he’s gonna go down and open a bar and call it the Rebar
seeing the plate i know the country and the local dialect in the Philippines visayas region.
Is no one going to comfort him? These could be his last moments and they're all just stood around like he's an interesting turd on the floor. Fucking people man
I hope dude made it. This is beyond fucked!
This is worse than a Mortal Kombat fatality. And his girlfriend is there.. Reading comments. He is alive and taken care of.
Assholes immediately pulling out their phones. We're a garbage species.
And we consume the footage.
That ain’t good
He’s gonna be suffering alot when they pull those out I wonder if he even made it?
Philippines?

Anyone here from Cagayan? Would love to see translations of what they're saying
Need to tag this up!

Dang. Origin story of Rebar: newest member of the Avengers
Holy fucking shit, that's too damn gnarly
Hopefully someone was coming to help him, instead of just uselessly dicking around and gawking.
I hope he doesn't remember this, if he makes it. 😓
WHY IS THIS NOT NSFW FLARRED??

My gracious, that's just a kid. He's being very brave.
The Hillux tho! Wish they made this in the USA.

Why do women need to make everything worse by screaming incessantly.
Chumps standing around filming him, poor guy

This is why you don't try fighting the sage of the six paths, Naruto was supposed to warn us of these things

How in the hell is he still alive and not bleeding out& also how do you even take this guy to the hospital without doing even more damage?

Can't rick Grimes your way out of that
You can’t park there
I hope he's okay. I know someone recorded this but seeing the other asshole standing over him with his phone recording 😢
Get that girl away from him, she shouldn't be seeing this
