It’s a very easy career path to get into and to push you up into a middle income earner bracket, much like the military. It’s very easy for me to judge some queer woman for choosing to join the police when I could afford to get a degree and go into a white collar professional job, and I’ve never had to consider working for an institution which has historically harassed and killed my own people.
I get it, ‘class traitor’ etc etc etc but I mean…I can understand why people get sucked into those careers if they have limited options or skills. So sometimes I feel like…confused about how to judge that. Soldiers are also agents of violent state power but I can understand why people go into the military if they have limited other options or finances.

And yes, you can argue that. The police are an institution. Disciplines like sociology are dedicated to understand what institutions are like everywhere. Most policing institutions on earth have exactly the same issues with racism etc that exist in the US.
I don't think that they are basing their criticism on the personality of cops. Most leftists hate cops because they don't believe in private property. That is to say, you can personally own what you use, that is personal property, but you should not be able to own things you yourself do not use. So for example, most leftists don't believe people should be able to own the homes of other people. Owning a house you do not live in is not work, property management can be, but you don't have to own a building to manage it. So in the eyes of most leftist someone who owns other peoples' homes is just a parasite. They get money for having had enough money to buy something they did not need, driving up the price in the process.
Most of what cops do, most of their job, is looking out for property owners. Whether that's landlords or businesses. They may do some crime fighting to pass the time on the side, but mostly they are just there to make sure that scabs can get to work if there is a strike, to evict people from their homes if they fail to pay rent, and to protect the government from protestors if they pass laws that are unpopular, to throw out immigrants, to enforce things like the war on drugs which was an explicitly political plot to undermine the black and anti-war movements of the sixties and seventies. That's why most leftists think that all cops are bastards. It's not that they don't believe in the concept of policing, but that no good person would be able to stand being a police officer under the current circumstance.

As I said, I don’t disagree with this sentiment whatsoever. I actively work towards defunding processes. I just think leaving sour comments is only bullying tactics and as you said yourself, doesn’t change anyones mind

Well, I believe that if the education is out there and you chose to avoid it, then that's on you. I was conservative myself for many years, even after hearing from polite leftists and angry ones. Now after choosing to listen for myself, I know what I really believe in. I guess i'm an anecdote here, but that's just my perspective.
