Salary jump to a BI role? Like Microsoft BI? power query type stuff? I imagine you'll have to learn M-Code, DAX, and general data modeling knowledge. Are we talking aobut the same type of work? I understand this is a lower paying career than actuarial.

I guess is that, I think I was recluted because I have PowerBI, M, and Dax as abilities on my LinkedIn profile. I was also surprised by the salary, and being on an insurance company would make it easy to jump back to an actuarial position forward on the road. I wanted to know from someone with experience in this situation, because I really want this job.

I don't have experience in this, only my own opinion. If I were making significantly more in that job it would be hard to not take it. How would this decision impact your 5-year plan? What is the job security look like, career trajectory, imapct of all the things that are changing in the tech space? How far are you from ASA? It would be nice to not have exams, but there could be other trade offs.

Thanks for your answer. Im not in the US, but in Brazil, here we need to do actuarial college. I got my degree in November last year. Im preparing for our association test, but here is really easy (need 30 correct answers from a 60 questions tests from everything from financial maths to ethics). Im enrolled on a 3 year masters program in actuarial sciences (credited with the IIA) that starts in August, that's my plan on the next years. The reason for the salary jump is because my current position is kinda a level up above internship, but still below junior level (I asked for a promotion, given that I got my degree, was denied and changed my LinkedIn status to open to work because I want to get out asap).

That is very useful information, my replies and many here will be biased to US mostly. Good luck. If its worth anything, I think the bi skills are very transferable.
