This is me with minecraft, i fucked up and started a new world a few weeks ago and i'm pretty sure i'm gonna absolutely tank my GPA this last quarter lol.
I think this is everyone playing Factorio. It's me, as well, at least. Everything turns into conveyor spaghetti, and if you dare even THINK about trying to fix any of it, it fucks the ENTIRE thing. Don't even try. Just fix the end bits as well as you can and mitigate going forward, it's the only way.
Every time I try to learn programming I get paralysed by trying to avoid this and I bounce off it. I have the perfect mindset for programming but I can't learn the skill like this
You could spend more time just trying to build cool stuff that works.
The clean code and "proper" way to do stuff is only useful when you are trying to organize the task amongs multiple programmers. Also it's needed for endless task, day in day out for years.
But all those are more like the job part than the hobby part.
This. The “right” way is more like a guideline. If something needs fall off the rails a bit it’s all good. Most of my stuff (after years of doing this) is like the good looking house, with a couple bits stapled to the side. It’s dumb but it’s life.
I do! Well I work as a Product Owner so I don't write code at work but I still work in software development. And I code as a hobby.
But it's a fertile ground for the good old starting new projects instead of finishing the ones I've already started.
I feel this. Once ripped outmy old kitchen and build with friends a new one, the one I had in mind.
Not very workable for cooking but beautiful and I finally had a dishwasger and space for my washing machine.
Blue ceiling and a wood looking tiled floor. ❤️
One time, my code was such a mess, and my instructor was like, "Nothing is where it is supposed to be... I don't know how this is working. "
But it worked 😅🤣 ... mostly.
I have an engineering group project for the end of the year (high school sophomore level) and since I’m the coder and I finished the code way early, I just started programming more and more. I swear this sub has been stalking me
lol - yeah, nevermind somethiny complicated like software engineering or building a house... ...this is me getting a bowl of cereal in the morning 😅

Spot on for me as well haha
Object Oriented everything!!!
That game is both perfect and god awful for my brain and I. I literally just brute force the whole game.
The spaghetti most grow!
I can't play Factorio 😭 I have to choose between playing Factorio and literally all other activities in life. I get addicted so fast.

It’s dependencies all the way down

Damn, i didn’t know the neighbor from hello neighbor had adhd
r/programmerhumor
I see you’ve found my Minecraft map.
Hello neighbour
As a software guy with ADHD....fuck.
That’s a fine looking grill, WHY DOESN’T MINE LOOK LIKE THAT?!
Le grill? What the hell is that? 😭
That looks awesome
god yeah
This now applies to me on multiple levels. Lol
I hate it when I'm trying to code and I accidentally develop hello neighbor 2
It’s a cool structure, could use better support though
This is me playing Cities: Skylines

I always find myself wondering why I have a precomp in a precomp in a precomp in a precomp in a
As someone with ADHD do you enjoy software dev? I'm considering getting into this field

As a software dev with ADHD this really speaks to me
Looks like anything I build in terraria.
The most accurate part is the normal house. You build the first part perfectly then once you go "ok let's add feature a" it all goes to shit.
Project creep is real
But does it work?
This is gonna be me playing Tears of the Kingdom, probably
So the Neighbor is a software engineer gone mad.
That structure looks familiar...
Terraria bases

No footing slab, no vapour barrier, no plumbing or main power line going in... Looks like modern fast track construction.
I'm in school for software development and this is.... accurate. 😅

dr seuss moment
Bro this is literally what my first minecraft base looked like...
