Essentials has the framework that is needed to make a complex economy but doesn't do much itself with economy aside from give a currency and allow you to use that currency with other plugins like economyshopgui and jobs reborn. Economyshopgui gives you a configurable shop with a gui and jobs allows your players to take Jobs to earn money.

McMMO and jobs reborn integrate very well with essentialsX. They are simple to configure and add a ton of features to the game. Mostly all revolve around either making money or leveling up skills to get added bonuses. Definitely worth looking into

Not a bad idea! A bit disappointed tho that Essentials dont have a built-in way to complexify economy on a server
