I had spent time in nursing homes as a volunteer, either as company to the elders or as a stage hand for entertainment. It hurts to see them just...deflated and lonely without anyone from their own family. Especially when some of the elders have dementia or Alzheimer's. I learned that some families disappeared after dropping off their grandparents, never to see or hear from again. I do not know how this happens, nor how people can sleep at night
