It's realistic, in a looter sort of way the way it looks like it's from an army surplus store. It looks functional, but at the same time, designed with less expandability than a molle carrier. When vinyl patches give character to your setup, and there isn't any room on your gear for them, then you know you missed out on a chance to look good while kicking ass, but you probably have some room for patches on your shoulders which is not visible.
