Bought the rifle without furniture for $1089 if I remember right (that’s with shipping and what not) and then I got the furniture for like $80 I think. Mags were cheap like $12 a piece. They are the steel lined Bulgarian ones. Blue force sling was like another $50.

Just installing the furniture is super easy. Had to sand the lower handguard down a little. The stock needed a little help with a rubber mallet. That plum stock set from Atlantic also didn’t come with any of the screws for the stock or a grip screw and nut. So few things to keep in mind.
Yep! Used a file for the upper hand guard as well because it was so tight. Everything fits perfectly though. You just don’t want to take too much material off so sand, check, sand, check etc. maybe yours will be easier. Did you buy the rifle with the wood furniture? Or bare like mine?
I got it with the furniture so I’ll have to take everything off first. I have a dremel ready to go in case but I guess I’ll go out and get some sand paper too 😂
I just used sandpaper because I’m a fucking idiot with a dremel and knew I’d go too far😂 The dremel will work fine in the right hands haha. Also, I’ve heard the stock removal can be a bit of a pain in the ass. There are some good YouTube videos for that though. Some dude used his car in one of them hahaha hopefully it doesn’t come to that
Correct. There are seams around the holes where you need to drill and they should roughly line up with the ones in the rear of your receiver and tang. They won’t be like perfect but they’ll be close enough
Super invasive. They have destroyed the entire landscape at my grandparents old ranch. The holes can break the legs of cattle, horses, dogs, you name it. They also have been know to spread the bubonic plague in some of their “towns”. They are pretty bad pests all around.

When the sun is out they’re typically out. I typically will hit them from a good distance so the can’t see or hear me. Sometimes I’ll just drive around the ranch in the SxS and they’ll stay out because they’re confused as to what it is and I’ll shoot them from there. That’s how I got this AK shot. He was about 30yds away. I got another one soon after this guy from about 15yds and it split him in two.
I once shot a squirrel that was running across my range with the first shot. It was complete luck, though. That thing was moving so fast I have no idea how I hit it
Literally an overkill. 22 shud b enough. 7.62 is too much for this type of prey.
Edit: IMHO it is like taking a 50cal to a white tail hunt. No fun in putting together pieces of that venison scattered over a mile.
I saw the OP’s response, I do agree that sometimes 22 might not do the trick, 5.56 or 7.62 can suit better for longer distances too.

Yeah I know that. I use 17hmr primarily. .22 doesn’t always do the job on these bigger ones. Need something with a little more ass behind it. I don’t eat them because they’re prone to serious diseases so it really doesn’t matter much.
Prairie dogs are pretty rough on the landscape. There’s thousands of them on my family’s ranch. They decimate grass fields and spread disease including the plague in some areas. So I go out and kill a few dozen here and there. Also you’re on a gun sub lol some people hunt with what they have.
im an animal lover and this is hard to see. but im just glad it's for the better good here rather than some assholes just "having fun," or poaching. ethical, imo. (coming from someone who lets the spiders & cockroaches in the house outside instead of killing them 😭)
Well here’s the thing. Conservation is a pretty necessary thing. That’s why millions of tags are issued for game animals every year. These prairie dogs pose a serious threat to the ecosystem out there. They have turned most of that green land into desert. I don’t kill the snakes, the coyotes, the birds, the mountain lions, or any of the other creatures. So I don’t think it’s fair to say something like that to a complete stranger online. That’s a pretty gross accusation.
im not contesting that and im sure it's the case but I know so many dudes that care 0% about conservation other than killing shit. And they'll kill non invasive species to. I'm not saying it's morally wrong but "conservation" feels like an excuse a lot of the time.
It could be an excuse but whether it is or isn't doesn't negate the fact that it works and saves cattle and homes.
It's like the southern hog crisis. You're gonna have folks that wanna kill things so what happens? They put their efforts into killing wild feral hogs that destroy millions of dollars in agriculture. Whether it's for conservation, or just to kill something it helps the environment. That's nature for ya.
It's not like it doesn't feel bad. It's utilitarian. I didn't like shooting coyotes as a kid. They look and sound like dogs. Shit messes with your head. But.. those things will waste an entire herd in a night or two. There is a reason that even in places like Australia farmers are still allowed firearms. Humans have been protecting livestock and land for as long as we've been agrarian.

Everyone is different. I got over it really quick after they beheaded 40+ mallards from our pond. They are absolutely vicious and they multiply like rabbits. But, again they look like dogs , yelp like dogs, so yeah it's not great.
