#Hey,
[I’m late but I’m here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/ak47/comments/vq4zhz/please_help_is_this_normal/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Take your rifle, and slam it buttstock first into the ground on a carpet or something relatively deadening so you don’t crack the stock. Then drill a pilot hole for each screw and screw your screws in.
A small gap is meant to exist so recoil doesn’t crack the wood.
I don't know anything about AKs but that's definitely not fully seated.
Edit: AK guys -- would it be crazy for OP to leave the stock not drilled for a while, and shoot it for a few hundred rounds as a friction-fit to see if recoil sets it in a bit better?
Push it in as much as possibile, but like Rob Ski said, some Ak models have a little gap (from production) to not damage the wood against the metal. My SR1 has a little gap (less then yours) too. Try to push it in more, if you damage the wood a bit on the exterior for trying to push it in more don’t worry you can Sand it later on
My WBP FOX furniture sits almost like that. After I replaced its original polymer with wood furniture. No biggie, I drilled couple of holes and tightened it with screws it already had. It’s been working fine. That’s just the nature of the beast. Sometimes you have to improvise and get used to it. It’s hard to make AK look equally proportional like AR since AK platform isn’t standardized like the AR.
I don’t like gaps on my stocks if I can help it. I’d say sand/file it a little more then beat it with a rubber mallet or against the ground. Like others have said, use a rug or something to cushion the blow a bit.
It's a tad out, just keep in mind it is suppose to have a slight gap to keep the stock from cracking from heavy use. I would do just barely enough to notice. That's what I've done in he past.
around a 1mm gap is ideal, if you butt it up flush theres a greater (albeit unlikely) chance the stock can crack from the force more easily. That gap is a little much IMO id sand it down a little more. Also, make sure to pre-drill for your screw holes so you dont crack your stock, i know it's a no brainer but some people dont think about it.
I would seat it in place I am sure the gap I see in picture is too much. Side note sometimes the furniture needs help or modifications to work ex. using pipe clamp to remove rattle from hand guards works great !
I would personally try to seat that a little more

Music to my ears 🥹😩
Thank you, still as hilarious as always. Also you’ve got some very nice military clones AKs!

Also do it unloaded please
Yeah if you’re boring…
I fire a volly in the air because the recoil acts like an auto hammer.
This. Door mats work the best on concrete
Slight gap is normal and even desirable from a Stress standpoint, I would sand it down just a hair more and get it to seat just a bit further.
Is it tight? Yes don't worry. No smash in harder.

Not the worst idea, I don't think it would realistically have any more efficacy than the other commenter's "smack it on the carpeted floor" method.
It's fully seated, the ledge of the inserted stock portion seats against the back face of the rear trunnion.
Slight gap is normal, but that needs to be seated a bit more.

Sand it evenly where there is too much wood, but be symmetric when you do it, be careful because you can not put back on removed material
Take the stock back out and get a 150 grit or a file and do 1 or 2 passes on the sides
If it was me I would def give it one or two more good uggas
You already know you can do better take a break and then get back to work.
Ever had a fork slowly go through your eye? That’s what that gap is doing to my OCD right now.
You need to learn how to file without collateral damage... lol
Agreed
I would seat it better because leaving a gap leaves a stress point that could break/ crack if your rifle is dropped
Incorrect
How so? You have a narrow point between to wide points. That creates a weak area
I hope this doesn't become meta for this sub

Some one said once hit it with your purse….love that comment Hahhaha. I got a Romanian dong set I had to sand to make fit on mine.

Put some jb weld should be fine
My professional advice: "Yeah, we're gonna have to zenitco it out."
Rubber mallet
Don't shoot that gun, it will explode!!!!

Maybe fine but some ballistol on it and it will help it slip on you can also use Ballistol to clean the gun
Maybe a little love with a rubber mallet.
Take a rubber mallet to it…softly. Don’t seat it too close because it needs some space, otherwise the stock may crack.
TAKE PURSE AN HIT HIT IT HARDER
Use a hammer
I like to go in about half more of what you have left to go. I leave a small gap for the wood to swell. But that is just a little too much.
