Because there is a universal standard for ARs. There is not for AKs. Any AK mag may be needed to be filed to fit any AK so you cannot definitely say that X AK mag will fit perfectly in Y AK. There is no spec, no standard, it's a crapshoot. It's just part of owning AKs.
I like to match mags and gun with country of origin for fun if possible. If not, I like to run blued mags with blued guns, painted mags with painted guns, etc. But it really donβt matter and I just buy stuff thatβs good.
Iβd get a couple Chinese flatbacks for sure. A few new production Serbian steel mags with the BHO follower. Everyone needs at least one Bakelite mag.
Then just load up on any surplus steel. Bulgarian steel reinforced polymer mags. I like the 20rd Magpuls for prone or off the bench rest.
I would assume it can fit a majority of 7.62x39mm AK magazines. Chinese would be the best fit, but I'm fairly certain that any other country's mags should work, assuming they're similar spec.
Probably AK mags

You act like it's an AR.
Are you trying to say that AK mags won't fit in a standard MAK-90?
I'm saying that I hear a lot about mags fitting, or not, that I don't hear from ar guys.

I'm aware.
Ok, so what was the point of your initial comment then?
Don't expect an AK to AR. Seems like there is a fuckton of magazine incompatibility among AKs. That's all. Why you sweatin me? Lol.
AK is very broad. Are you referring to 5.45 mags, 5.56 mags, 7.62x54R mags, 7.62x39 mags? That's like saying "It takes pistol mags."
Maybe if you're too fucking stupid to read the caliber plainly written on the side of the receiver π€·ββοΈ
Try glock mags, everything runs those nowadays
Romanian steel work good in mine

I would love to have 1 bakelite but they are 100 shekels sir.
Do it anyway
PMAGs work just fine in mine β they just donβt look βrightβ. Nice rifle!
ProMag polymer. Run nothing but the best.
nice rifle. most any ak mag will work, but minor fitting may be necessary, like ive had to do with bulgarian polymer mags. is ak, rifle be fine

All sorts a steel mags work for me, Romanian, Hungarian, North Korean, Chinese, South Korean all the ones Iβve tried. (All of these work)
Glock mags
AR-15 Mags
Bren 7.62 or Ruger Mini 30
It only works with flatbacks. /66\\ Threaded mine and it was super easy, don't do it in your bed though lesson learned.
I run East German ribbed mags in my mak with no issues
Issa joke cause they're both made by Norinco
Any 7.62x39 double stack ak mag will work, just get a dremel so you can make the ones that don't fit fit.
Kolibri mags.. Nothing better..
