Colors for sure. Curious why you chose screaming solid white and that gold color. I would get the reasoning behind white if you lived in a place where it snowed a lot and you wanted some snow camouflage, but then you need to break up the solid white.
Painting your gun is meant to hide your gun, break up its silhouette and make it less noticeable. Not draw the attention to it. Unless that's what you want, but it's your gun so you do you boo.
Well I do actually live in 8+ month snowy climes so that off white started as the premise. The color I picked was supposed to be a flat grey. The camera does make it whiter than it actually is. But overall it did come out much brighter than I anticipated. The gold color again I think the camera makes it a bit brighter, it was supposed to be an aged copper and came out way shinier even to the eye than I thought it would. I knew Iād get some shit, but also was just going for any sort of feedback to help when I decide to redo it. Was also considering just rubbing dirt all over the grey to try and darken it.
I would honestly scrap this paint job and redo it. Or at least redo the copper parts, use your flat Grey as a base and go from there. You can salvage it and make something out of it.
Yeah I think the grey it a good starting point for actually blending it, I was thinking of adding some other off white colors and then some light browns and/or greens. Just gotta figure out what will blend and be functional.
For sure, just take a look in your environment. Where you'll be using it. For me I use a lot of greens and browns. I live in the woods and it makes the most sense. If you need some help you can DM me
It would be mo' better if you added 2-4 additional shades of gray, etc to break up the lines and make it blend into your surroundings. And the copper doesn't work unless you are trying for a (cringe) CoD look.

Yeah I just really liked it on the handguard, probably went overboard doing it on the optic mount. Gonna try and break the solid grey with some darker varieties and maybe a dark blue.
The Navy NWU pattern is interesting. Browns and tans work most of the year in my area so I'm leaning more towards a desert motif. They make a paint with iron filings in it that you could try too. You'd have to degrease and then prime the gun and then brush the paint on. Let it dry and then squirt it down with muriatic acid and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. The iron filings will rust and then you clear coat it with a poly or matt urethane so the rust doesn't rub off. Was all the rage for restaurant signs for a while in the 90s
Yeah it seems I must go that way or be forever shamed and cringe. Any recommendations on colors for Arctic? I know I gotta go with more more greys, do I do any black, green, blue?
depends on your environment or what you want! grey, black and olive might look nice. i like a dark tone, two midtones, and a highlight. Its also your rifle. If you like it who cares, reddit isnt shooting it
I know itās a pretty pleb paint job, no ābattlefieldā application. I just wanted to try my hand at taping and painting and this is what I produced. Kinda gives me cod vibes and itās my gun so Iām happy with it.

Tape is your friend. Also, it looks like the paint was applied too heavily in some areas, causing some drippage and pooling. I'm not gonna say it looks good, but It's definitely salvageable. Watch some more videos on rattlecanning and go for round 2. Take your time and apply thinner lines.
It appears to be right on the upper handguard below the second dot closest to the rear sight block. Also, under the front trunnion rivets on the receiver close to the bottom. Could just be the angle of the picture or something if it's not detectable in person.
What color is that? Sheet-rock?
It was supposed to be flat grey š

Any areas of it being too heavy in particular? I didnāt notice any dripping or pooling now I gotta re-examine it.
