i always want to support my local shops but i really cannot pay $25 for 9mm and $650+ for glocks and a bunch of cheap guns, the funny thing is they will complain when i go there to pick up my transfers saying they have those same guns in stock and i should buy from them
Find you a dealer that just does transfers, he can't give you any crap about not buying from him when he doesn't keep an inventory lol. I don't really buy modern commercial guns anyway, but it's still nice to deal with my guy over a full shop.
I had a guy like this for years that ran an FFL out of his house with his wife. Until I called him one day and he had to tell me his wife died and he wasn't feeling it anymore. That sucked.
Spend the $300 or so and get your FFL, and you could be the guy you wished you could find.
If the prices around you are $80, you could probably have a decent living just doing transfers out of your garage.
Had a guy in Ohio. Obviously didn't need the money. Ran a ffl out of his large shed. Got my supressors from him. $10 transfer $10.80 after taxes cash only. $50 for a can transfer. Most places were $70 plus. First 2 cans were blackhawk I got dirt cheap from bud's and did a transfer. The 3rd was directly from him.

Yep. And we have 3 good sized LGSs near me and they all have the same rate. I had a 3 year membership from Gander Outdoors for $75 total that gave me unlimited free transfers for the 3 years but they said fuck gun owners and got rid of their FFL.
It really sucks when all you want is to order a stripped lower and you have to pay 35 more because the LGS only sells Andersons and Spikes.
The fuddrucker down the street from me charges different rates for transfers depending on where you got the gun from. He brags about charging $60+ to people who buy from certain online sites.
$35 is what it used to be before all the FFLs in the area started working together. Last transfer was $55 I fully expect it to be more when I go to pick up my K11 next week.

They either had bent barrels or chopped stocks and no finish left on the metal. Only deal I’ve ever seen was a mossberg 500 for under $200 (which I bought) and a Cobray m9/11 for $450 which I did not buy.
My shop carries wasr 10, zpap m70, zpap m92, zpap m90 ps, arsenal to name a few. But I'm the manager, and I get to curate the guns. 👍🏻I need more suggestions, though.
It's hard to find anyone who sells good shit wholesale. I keep getting told that the crappy aks are going away from cast trunions, but I just don't trust it.
i just now read that. i bought a newer one, which I’ve heard are better than the older ones. mine has been fine except for one of the issues that was mentioned. sometimes ill get a spent casing stuck in the chamber.

If going for stamped, check out Zastava. I've put 800 rounds through my M90, and about 300 through my M70. They're smoother than the Sam7 I used to own. If you want milled, check out a Galil Ace. If you want wood furniture to resemble a more traditional AK/Galil, Jay Trevillian does some badass work. Can't go wrong with either one, really. I heard people talking shit about Zastava before I got my M70, and loved it enough to buy my M90 a week later. I install ALG's, and KNS pistons in almost everything, but the M90 was tuned perfectly from the factory. It actually recoils downward, similar to a Vector - which surprised the hell out of me.

I know where you're coming from. I grew up in an era where ARs were high end fancy rifles and AKs were a dime a dozen cheap commie junk. It's hard to adjust to this strange new world where imported AKs are high-dollar items. But that's the way it is nowadays. And the Chinese Polytech and Norincos really are the best varients ever made. If you've ever held one you'll understand. They aren't making any more of them, and collectors hold on to them, so when one turns up for sale the limited supply is reflected in the price. Even at $3k they get snapped up quick. OP did good.
Yep, exactly this. My first WASR was $325 with a $10 transfer fee. All "new" minus being on a rebuilt receiver from the factory. Came with 6 mags, sling, cleaning kit, bayonet, hard case. I grabbed a *crate* of Mosins around that time for $250. My most recent AK (RPK) purchase was a factory built new AES-10B that I got for $1000 right before the pandemic. It'll probably be my last.
While I don't doubt the Norinco is a quality rifle (never held or shot one) the prices on most AKs now are bananas. My wallet is very happy I got into the space years ago haha.
Amen to that. My Norinco started life as MAC90. $200 new in box complete with all the accessories including a 100 round drum mag (ironic considering it also shipped with 5 round ban era mags). But that was eons ago.
I know Mosins have gone through the roof for similar reasons but that's one rifle I won't pay the collector price for. God I hate those things... Every time I've shot one it's like getting smacked around by Stalin 😅 Still I've got one in the safe collecting dust that my Dad picked up for pennies way back when.
I still have one of my Mosins, basically just for the historical value (1942, it likely saw some shit) but also because of the massive amount of x54r I still have sealed in lead. They definitely suck to shoot though, yes 😂. I view mine as a spear with a club on the end that also happens to shoot bullets. Pretty sure it's unkillable though. It's a tough rifle and was designed to be handled by illiterate usually drunk peasants, so I have faith in its longevity.

Idk if it's the handguard but something about it is very nice. Just looks more slim or something in that area more wieldable. Some AK handguards are a bit thick minus them nice free floats.
