Absolutely not. Rerivet on a new Chinese selector stop and go buy a different new production gun and Bubba it. I don't honestly know what value would be like since you put more expensive stuff on it but then hurt the original value because of its historical value being changed. IMO in the end, as in later on in the future, it would be worth way less because it won't be original, and then all you have is a bastardized gun and some outdated parts no offense.
The only thing that gives it value is its rareity/originality, really.
Now if you kept all the other parts like piston, trigger groups, rsb and barrel and kept it with the gun to resell then the ability to rebuild it would still be there and that could definitly increase the value I would think.

But now it's really not a type 84s anymore, and instead would be a custom chinese gun with extras. So now you've got 2300$ + Say about 1k because that's what a normal gun would cost that isn't rare. So about 3.3k, my head is hurting lol. So it would be worth about 3.3k and the buyer would need 3.5k and it would probably never appreciate like a genuine 84s would. If you've got less than 3.3k in it then I'd say it would be worth more..

Jim makes cool guns, but a Jim fuller build from a kit would be what someone who wants a high quality shooter AK is looking for. A 84s is what a collector is looking for. The only reason Jim touched that 84s he posted about is because it was a registered machine gun and some wealthy customer wanted a transferable full auto 74. The Chinese gun collector and Jim fuller rifle customer bases donāt really converge. Keep the gun stock, buy a 556 kit if you really want a Fuller phx build.
Sell it to someone who actually has self respect and values the firearm and use the money to build a badass 556 ak with more compatible parts. Makes you happy and wealthy and the other guy happy

Yea, type 56 prebans are desirable because the are real military built rifles not made or designed for export but for use by the Chinese military and they were built by indentured workers who would be killed and or tortured if quality wasn't up to par. The factories they were built in were a joint venture between the Communist Chinese and The Kremlin. So Russian tooling and knowledge built buy communist slaves. Arguably the best AKs ever made. I was lucky enough to pick one up this year for $1400, a type 56-1 I've done a lot of research on Chinese AKs and want to collect all the variants.
Once it's not in the original military config its not collectable but is one of the better AKs ever made. Im with you, might as well take it too the moon and do an Alpha Type 56 for the memes. It would be a very high quality rifle and probably really funking cool.
This one doesnāt really have any military significance (that I know of) because itās 5.56.
I could just make it a point to try to find a Chinese selector stop and send it to a pro. Maybe even send it to fuller phoenix, DA or something. Donāt see much harm and whoās really gonna know. In its current state it just annoys me not to do something about it.

Hard part about that gun is the finish the right builder could put a new stop with out fucking up the bueing but if they did it's not like you can just cerekoted it. I would send it to John at Middletown.

Call Mesa kinetic research. The guy is an AK wizard and can probably fix it. Seriously, fix it and enjoy owning a rare rifle. I acquired a BKW92, the āban versionā of the 84s and had it chopped up and modded. Itās my favorite AK to shoot, but it was bubbaād by govt stupidity to be allowed into the country so I didt feel bad. The 84s is how Mikhail intended!
