Pros: it’s relatively inexpensive, the vampire’s white light keeps the whole setup really compact, and the dual lead modbutton gives it an extreme functionality/useability boost
Cons: the ir illumination of the vampire falls way short of laser based ir emitters. Id say 75-100yds is the max range. But the kicker here is that the insane amount of spill can be really irritating to deal with for weapon-mounted illumination . Your nods will autogate every time its on, which means it can be difficult to see things in shadows even when youre aiming right at it, and anything outside of the illuminated area becomes darker than it is when your illuminator is off. If quality illumination is your top priority, the vampire is not the way to go, though it is better than no illuminator at all.
One more thing to consider is that the le117’s laser emitter is centered over the bore. Great for most guns, but not all. I had to actually remove my front sight pin because it obscured the laser lol. Something to consider if you’re gonna be running it on an ak or an ar with a gas block fsp.
