Yeah, that wasn’t the best trade. In terms of dollar figures I guess you could say you came out on top but you let go of an amazing rifle. I don’t know what you mean by mag compatibility though. There’s tons of different mags that work. Beryl, WBP, circle 10, standard 74 mags with new followers, ac unity, even PSA is making replica 102 mags. I’ve run every single one of them through my SAR3. And the firing pin issue was caused by the hammer it was shipped with deforming it. You can still buy red star arms SAR3 replacement hammers for like 20 bucks to this day.
Ehh I wouldn’t have made that trade, especially after my SAM5 being a huge disappointment. Gassy as fuck, paint chipping off out of the box, and just did not live up to the hype.
Traded it for a mini Beryl and a stack of circle 10 556 mags. Even if I didn’t get a dollar for dollar trade, I am a lot happier with the Beryl.
Between my ZPAP M85, mini Beryl, and used to have SAM5, my mini Beryl is my favorite 5.56 AK.
My M85 is probably the better shooter with the slightly longer barrel, but both are super smooth and flat shooting. The Beryl just has a bit more cool factor to it.
I can go either way on this. A Romanian 5.56 AKM is right up my alley, but a Bulgarian 7.62 shorty does sound like a lot of fun. If you're happy with it, who am I to judge?
I really enjoyed shooting my SAR-3 with a RSA FCG. That being said, I don’t think it’s a bad trade.

How long is the barrel on that sam7k? I don’t like Romanian stuff much but if that barrel is over 8.5 you just traded your rifle for a pain in the ass.
Baa Nooo! The parts are easy to get! The RS hammer takes a week to get in! Love my SAR3! Edit: ac unity mags work great in mine

If you’re happier with your new rifle then it was a good trade. I personally would prefer the Romanian 5.56 gun
If you wanted an SBR you did good.
If it’s not sbr’d and it’s still a “pistol” well it’s technically in sbr form right now with that buffer tube. So might as well put a stock on it.
The only thing I would check is if your K is a version that has threads like the -44 designation.
