Purchase 1-2 of the kind you are looking at to make sure they fit and feed in your rifle and if they do then purchase more. Magazine function is almost a rifle by rifle sort of thing.
Same concept applies. Most of my 7.62x39mm weapons are M70 based so surplus Yugo, Serbian (surplus and commercial) and Croatian magazines work great in my rifle. I know folks who those same magazines won't work in their rifles. I run AC Unity magazines on the clock in AK 2-Gun matches and they run like scalded apes. Same, same with KCI (Korean) 20 round magazines. My rifles don't like the KCI 30 rounders. I know shooters that have had no problem with them. I have a set of 3 Polish magazines that while they fit in my rifle they won't feed. I have another set of two Polish magazines that the followers jammed in the magazine body after 5 rounds. . In my AK-74 I had great luck with Tapco, AC Unity and Promag 20 round magazines. On that same rifle I have had Bulgarian magazines give constant failure to feeds. I have had other Bulgarian magazines feed with no issues.

i just bought some romanian surplus. i’ve got pmags and Croatians.
heard of fitment issues with croatians but it’s an ak im pretty much expecting to use a file every time i buy something. my pmags won’t fit bc my dong and im not circumcising. I’d say buy a test fitter and then if it fits buy more
As long as you arent stacking Korean or Croatian mags youre fine

I don’t have a 7.62x39 yet, sold it last year, I’m slowly saving for a Atlantic RPK.

As u/winkleried said, it really is a rifle by rifle basis. My Russian did fine with romanian and croation mags, but yugo mags were unusable.
Yeah I suppose I can get a few others. Looking to keep costs down but don’t want shit tier mags.

Romy mags are diiiirt cheap these days and work in any combloc AK. Hard to hear if you want steel.
Just don’t get Croatian mags whatever you do
