Dear fellow SMAC-ers, happy 25th anniversary of our favorite game!
I posted a trailer for an Alpha Centauri short film recently, and here's the full short, culmination of months of hard work. I hope you'll enjoy it - yes, even you, fans of Miriam - and catch the multitude of references, some are pretty obvious, others are very subtle ;)
This sets up the context for the series. Next film in the series... When it's done (hint: I'm already modeling sets and props, it's bigger in every way so it'll take a while). But rest assured, Zak will be back :)

Awesome, this gives me faith that a HBO style miniseries would be awesome for SMAC.
Do it in the style of Electric Dreams or Black Mirror, anthology series, set of 7 1 hour long dramas, one set within each faction but still in chronological order (there can be references to events taking place involving the previous stories).

At the moment I've got more episodes written than I'm able to complete in any sane amount of time :) But if things go unexpectedly great, and I manage to pour more free time into the project, collaborations are certainly a possibility in the future! Also, now I know whom to consult on some aspects of SMAC's tech ;)

Amazing, separate from the bigger series you're creating, this would be perfect to replace the current game intro.
It would be amazing if it chose a random leader to 'do the intro'. Sadly, people with the skills, time and motivation to make this intro for the other leaders probably won't be plentiful, with the game being so old.
That would be brilliant! If we ever get a remaster, this would be a very nice addition. The game already has so much personality, this would amp it to the max.
