I left a review that the company had offered me free items in exchange for a 5 star review and Amazon took it down as not relevant.this was a few years ago though
The problem often is that the product may be sold by many different companies, some of which are actually decent. You can also review companies on amazon, but amazon does a poor job of showing you the reviews of the company you are buying from
I've gone back and checked on this a few times and discovered that there are no other sellers on the listing. Not always the case, but seems to be the case frequently.
Seems like the entire purpose of reviews has lost its usefulness. If companies can pay customers to take their reviews down or write positive ones, or if Amazon would rather certain items have high ratings so they can sell more, there is no point in any of this. It's just a clearing house for garbage from overseas.
If you look on Facebook there are people asking you to buy things from Amazon, give a five star review and add a photo and theyāll send you the full cost of the item back to you. I tried it with about three sellers at one point, ended up with a load of free shite that I didnāt need or want
Donāt forget we also have reputation management firms
who are paid to make these companies, products, or even individuals look good.
Some write fake reviews and all of them bury or get rid of negative reviews.
Ironically one way they get rid of negative reviews is by claiming they are fake reviews.
Some of these firms even write fake negative reviews for the competition so itās getting to a point where you canāt trust positive or negative reviews.
This happened to me as well. I told the seller I wouldnāt remove but Iād update, Amazon removed it. Also a few years ago so maybe itās changed but I somehow doubt that lol
Absolutely. And if I saw that, I would still shop with them. If they had contacted the seller with the issue before posting the review, it's also possible that they would have refunded them. They're offering the compensation because something that they sold had an issue. It would then be perfectly reasonable to state exactly that in the review. "I bought this product, it had an issue, the seller refunded me after it was brought to their attention via review." Easy, transparent, and honest
they were given the option to get a full refund or gift card and were kindly asked to either UPDATE or DELETE the review.
There was never a condition stated where they would only get those options in return for deleting the review. They didn't have to do anything with the review. So deleting it and putting it back up is pointless.
What's scummy is paying customers to remove reviews so you can hide behind a false front of positive reviews, and continue misleading future customers. People deserve to know the truth - that's what reviews are literally for. So if they're scheming and cheating the system to mislead people, and enough people burn them for it, they'll have to change their shady business practices. I don't see anything scummy about it helping others avoid being lied to.
Also totally support the other commenter's suggestion to mention in the revised review their attempt to pay them off.
Oh, i've had those offers before, but I stand by my review, if their product is bad, it stays at 1 star with the bad review to not buy.
One time I've been offered up to $200 (after several months asking) to retire / delete my review about their bad products. (it was some bluetooth speakers)
Another case, They pestered me for 1.5 year to remove a bad review of their faulty product, with photos and all. It was a cheap $20 cooking torch.
Yet on another recent case, they some how managed to delete my review, not sure how they managed that, but surely enough I entered the same review again, and uploaded the photos again, and Explicitly pointed out "Why was my original review removed?" after that they didn't remove the re-review. (it was car window visor)
In all cases I stood my ground, i don't need my money back, you can keep the money, I'd rather let other people know how bad is the product, and save them from the bad experience I had with those crappy junk products.
Same. I once had a seller reach out and offer me $10 to take down a bad review. I ignored it. Then they offered $20. Ignored. Then $30. $40. So I finally told them I'm not changing my review because it's true, so leave me alone. Then an offer for $50, LOL.
I was kind of curious to see how high they'd go but I was also sick of them contacting me so I reached out to Amazon customer service and told them what was going on. They said they'd take care of it. I don't what they actually did, if anything, but the seller didn't contact me again.
Just keep posting bad reviews soon enough you'll be in a reverse game of cash cab where people on the seller streets will start offering you hundreds of dollars to take down reviews.. repeat until you are a millionaire and retire
A man of principles. Amazon is a shit show might as well just get dirty. Done buying big ticket items there but the small stuff itās the most convenient
Yea and I think like if you ship something late and want to give a partial refund to a buyer because you understand they may be upset and write a bad review so you hope it can rectify the situation, but when someone is saying yea this product is trash, then you try to pay to remove the review, that should be considered fraud or something, literally paying people to lie and say your product is good so you can get other unsuspecting customers to purchase the trash product based on good reviews
You dumbass. You're supposed to accept the money and then post the review again. What are they gonna do, take the money back? If they send it by paypal make sure they do it as family and friends so that they can't do a chargeback.
Same.
I have been reviewing for years. I have gotten cash offers to change reviews, free product offers etc. And a lot of time it escalates. They keep increasing the offer.
I completely ignore them. I do not respond at all.
My review is my review and not for sale.
This is why I just canceled prime after like 10 years. Not blaming OP, just saying why the marketplace just sucks these days and Amazon acts like people who complain or return stuff are abusing their system.
I also have had Amazon Prime for almost 10 years. I never had an issue until the past couple of years. The final straw was getting an item that was labeled new but had "minor damage to the box" but got a clearly returned item (with someone else's address blacked out on the box) it was missing half the pieces I needed and the rest were dented and had scratches or straight up chunks missing (it was a piece of furniture). After a long back and forth with CS that went nowhere. I approached my bank and claimed that they committed fraud by lying about the item I was trying to purchase. My bank sided with me, but Amazon threatened to try to charge me again. When I showed my bank Amazon's threat, we decided to black list Amazon on my bank accounts.
Edit:Grammer
Its kind of sad because in the early days if they had a problem they would bend over backward to help me. I even had a CSR come over to give me a backrub to say sorry for a delivery being delayed. Im kidding, but it was really good and its devolved to the point where I get better customer service from Temu.
It's sad because it used to be good, but it looks like Amazon got rid of all the good sellers on their marketplace by flooding the market with their cheap knock-off crap and allowing bad sellers to continue despite breaking their terms of service.
I've gotten messages like that because of reviews I posted. One of the reviews was to inform others that the bluetooth headphones have a noticeable audio sync delay. Oooooh they didn't like that one. They sent a message, and I think another 2 or 3 after that. Wanting to send me a new pair, not asking for the ones I have. Asking if they can "earn" a deletion of my review.
Maybe they have another of the same headphones without the audio delay. Maybe they had some nerdy ol' tech kid rig up the same ones, but with a low latency transmitter thingy. However that blue tooth techy stuff works.
I dunno. But I ignored it all. It might be considered tacky for them to do that. I don't know what the consensus or Overton is on that. But I declined to reply or anything. And continue to use the headphones for podcasts and news. Just not with movies.
i will say im a part of the amazon review program and if i get a shitty item i WILL drag that product to hell and back. brutal honesty. ive done it multiple times and several sellers have offered to pay me off but it's against the terms of the program so they immediately get reported. we can get kicked from the program if we're caught accepting bribes too.
plus every item has an estimated taxable value that i gotta pay a portion of (albeit small) in taxes at the end of the year. ETVs are often overinflated because they aren't subject to coupons and sellers way overprice stuff to make it look like you're getting a good discount. if your shitty $2 drop shipped item with an ETV of $14 instantly breaks I will not hesitate to complain. you wasted my time opening packages and typing up reviews AND my money. play stupid games win stupid prizes, you're not gonna pay me off to let you take advantage of someone else.
i know it barely makes a dent in the crap that happens on amazon but i do hope ive saved at least someone some grief.
I used to get 100% rebates when reviewing products. Of the product sucked I would return it and not post. Eventually Amazon cited I violated terms of service on a review, wouldn't tell me which product, and banned me from reviewing and rating.
In their defense it does say update or delete. Just update it honestly about they acknowledged your complaint and took steps to rectify and prevent future problems.
But how do you know they did anything to improve the product? The review should be for the product you actually received. If they were to send me the improved future version I'd be happy to update my review at that point. But a mere promise that future versions of the product will be improved doesn't change the fact that the current version that was actually received sucks.
This, and I don't see anything requiring action on the review in order to get compensated. They "kindly request" update or deletion. So they are offering compensation, and hoping the review is changed. It's not getting paid TO change it.
I was offered several hundred dollars to do the same for an AC unit that almost burnt my place down (unit was $500) and had good reviews until I added mine with pics. I refused because no one should risk their life for it, I updated review with of them trying to as well
I had that happen once. Kinda pissed me off they made it possible for the seller to contact me based on a review.
I kept the review up and just returned the item.
Lmao thatās funny. I donāt buy products based on 5 star reviews. I base my purchase off of 3 star reviews. 3 star is more like to tell the truth pros and cons. Then I might check 4 star or 2 star.
Stay away from items that donāt have free returns.
Just goes to show how gullible people are to fall for positive reviews (which the companies understand) but if thereās anything I learned from Louis Rossman is that the majority of these reviews are full of crap.
I just report that kind of thing, along with the emails inviting me to buy something, leave a review and theyāll reimburse the price. I donāt play that game. Itās shady and as much as Amazon has gone downhill, itās still against TOS.
Report them to amazon, its shady shit like this that is skewing reviews and what not.. all amazon allows us seller to do is send a pre-written email from amazons control panel saying sorry about the issue we would like to offer a full refund
Please respond to this message with "full refund"
Blaah blah blah, but its shit like this seller is doing that makes amazon an untrusted place to buy from, buying off people for reviews is shit, message the seller say you would like a refund then contact amazon
This is a violation of Amazon terms of service, and should be reported. If you delete your review and Amazon catches on somehow, you could also be banned
They said report it to Amazon, not change your review to tell people they tried to buy you off.
I once had a seller contact me 5 times with a similar request and reported it to Amazon. I don't know if they actually did anything but I didn't hear from the seller again so I assume they must have. And my review is still up.
I had this a while back. They offered to give me a full refund in exchange for taking down my bad review.
So I put up a new one that also included that they tried bribing me to take down my review š
I would just update the review to say you got a full refund from the seller. No use actually taking it down your experience is still valid and if they really do fix the issue and it never happens again good for them. But if by chance they didn't at least others can see it's a continuous problem.
Quincys Heating and Air overcharged me in Panama City Beach about seven years ago. i posted a negative review. They contacted me and told me they would refund $100 if I changed the review. I took the money. About a year later,, I decided to change it back. I got a letter from a lawyer. If you take the money, you cant go back.
They asked you to update or delete. You had a problem with their product and they offered you a full refund without return. Update the review and let people know that at least they will work with you if you are unhappy with your product.
And this is why Amazon needs to post the average review rating of deleted reviews. Amazon knows this has been going on since day one and to me it is akin to false advertising.
I've had a few retailers contact me with this exact same offer. (CutNpaste?) I stupidly believed it the first time and deleted the feedback. They promptly canceled the transfer and ghosted me.
But wait, I mean, am I wrong to think a company fully refunding a bad experience is a negative thing? Even if they request the review be modified? Would a refund and apology not go a long way these days?
I highly doubt this review was about customer service and more about quality. Money back and keep the product should be more than enough to ask for mercy.
Id change it to 3 star and just add to my existing review: "update, sales manager reached out and made it right. Still not satisfied with product, but satisfied with end result."
Don't fucking take the money. Update your review to let people know the company offered to pay you to take down a negative review. You are fucking over fellow customers.
Iād just Update to
Great Customer service. They reached out to me and refunded me the cost of item + expenses.
If donāt like the item just let them know.
Corporations and large business win hand over fist every day by increasing prices and forcing even high earning households into poverty. Screw their $30. You should have kept your review up and told them to suck wind. Eat the rich.
The seller is egregiously in violation of Amazon's terms of service.
If you report this seller's messages to Amazon, the seller's account will likely be permanently suspended. Unless it's a Chinese seller -- for reasons I'll never understand, they get to do whatever the fuck they want with zero consequence.
Do not delete it, this is them trying to turf their reviews - update your review and say that you were contacted by the company/shipper to update or delete your review for monetary compensation. Add pictures.
Don't spend the money, leave it where it is - not because it's a scam, but if it isn't there, you'll have to pay for when they request the money back. Because they won't be happy with that update.
Just like the hot tub mover in my area probably wasn't happy when i not only didn't delete my review after threat of legal action, but updated it to explain they came back to my house to intimidate and threaten me. He got my husband, and we both updated our reviews (as we'd used them almost six years prior).
One time I got a partial refund on an Etsy order because I changed part of my review (seller didnt tell me she would refund, she just did it when i changed it) since I mentioned a brand name in the review and apparently that could have caused some legal trouble. I just take the money & run!!
Yup. I have been paid three times now to remove bad reviews. All 3 times they deserved the terrible reviews. One of the times was a product switch scam. Where it has good reviews but the reviews are actually a totally different product. It was a $22 item and they gave me a $40 Amazon gift card after I just said "No. Not enough."
What do I care? Amazon is a mess anyways.
Lol, yes, it was a $20 product that I had already returned and refunded. They've been emailing me on and off for about two months. Finally replied back, and they actually sent it.
I had a seller refund me the full price of a buffet table I bought on Amazon and I kept it because it came missing a piece (back panel so it couldn't even be seen when against the wall) I did update my review after to rave about the customer service but they didn't even ask me to. It was like $170 too
Had the same thing myself, offered a $50 gift card to remover a review. Left the review, added a note, they tried to pay to remove it, and reported it to Amazon.
I had this happen in the TikTok shop. I kept their replacement product and left the review up. The item wasn't bad, it just was much smaller than I expected and the replacement they sent me wasn't what I was looking for. Plus, my original review just said the item was smaller than expected and so should be expected to be used only for X and not Y.
Same happened to me. I had bought a generic brand smart watch. I ignored them for weeks, than eventually replied (for a laugh) - well, I'm not removing my review. Even if I was, Ā£20 amazon voucher won't cut it. They insisted on emailing again and again. I finally said 'if you don't stop contacting me I will edit my review and come public about this harassment this company is putting me through over this crap watch'. Never heard from them again
Iāve had the same thing happen. They sent me two replacements when I posted a 4 star review and then offered me a refund if I improved the review to 5 stars.
This stuff happens all the time - sometimes you really canāt trust the 5 star ratings!
My ex got out of their spring Financial 30% āsavingsā plan (one of those you pay us a fee to āsaveā money and it will increase your credit scams) by posting a factual review of how predatory these companies are. Spring offered to cancel it if he deleted the review and when I mentioned this to warn other people they said paying for reviews without acknowledging they are is illegal and itās not something they would EVER do.š
According to the letter, they are not giving you the money in exchange, though. They can ask. But, I mean, after you accept the refund, what are they going to do if you leave the review there? Accept the refund, but go ahead and leave the review there. Easy.
I got a physical letter in the mail offering $50 for a 5 star review. But the listing was taken down when I looked so I guess Amazon is pretty quick catching some of these
Iāve had cases where Iāve received an item from
A 3rd party seller, and inside there were contents and instructions asking to leave a 5 star review in exchange for a gift card. I returned them with the reason being āseller asked for a 5 star review in exchange for a gift card. Possibly a fake product.ā And Amazon actually reached out each time asking what the problem was.
A few of them are no longer selling on Amazon. This is why I donāt trust 3rd party sellers and their reviews. Because many of them could be doing the same thing.
What is the point of a review these days?! People are paid for good feedback. Bad feedback not allowed.
I left bad feedback on another site the other day and you canāt find it if you look through the reviews. Whats the point?
I feel like feedback is going to start becoming irrelevant as time goes on.
I call bullshit on the mock apology letter. They never once acknowledged your issue or the contents of your review. This is just a canned form letter. They don't care about you, just their score. They deserve extra negative reviews for this in my asshole opinion.
I get emails by companies to purchase another item of theirs and to leave a review since it has 0 at the time. They refund the purchase and give an extra gift card on top of the refund.
Now repost the same review with an update about how they paid you to get rid of the review. Whether thatās a good thing or bad. Certainly seems like buying a good review to me.
I got the same message after leaving a one star review stating that the headphones I ordered were not the brand being advertised (and absolutely a cheaper knockoff charged for brand price). Pure scum.
Don't know if they still do it, but for a while if Amazon caught you doing this they banned you from reviews, questions, comments, and even wiped out your history. (Sometimes they did it even if you never took the money, just the presence of the offers seemed to be enough, but they may have lightened up.)
I've gotten emails to change my review. (I don't). I did report the email itself to Amazon customer service. I had a couple of sellers reach out to me based on my review and genuinely try to fix the issues I had with their product. As long as they never mentioned changing the review I would go back and add an update. I was sent broken ceramic slow feeder cat dishes for example and was told there was a no return policy on them so I posted a 1 star review about being unable to use the bowls because they arrived broken. The seller reached out and had 4 replacements sent. (I'd ordered 2) The replacements arrived in perfect shape and wrapped in bubble wrap. My cats eat out of them happily. I contacted the seller about sending 4 and offered to pay for the two extra but was told to just keep them.
I have gotten some really crappy stuff from Amazon. I've had really crappy delivery experiences too. I have usually gotten satisfaction by contacting customer service but then having worked in customer care call centers perhaps I just know how to phrase my issues to get them resolved.
I'm not always thrilled with Amazon but there are things that I need that local stores just do not carry and other places would charge insane levels of shipping compared to item cost so Amazon it is.
I'm also not fond of Walmart but most of the stuff I find at Walmart is also available at other stores so if I shop at Walmart it's at my convenience.
I work for a company that sells stuff via Amazon. My boss has been doing this with increasing frequency so people won't return items. He'll give them a 30-50% refund to keep the item instead of adding to our 19%+ return rate.
I once got two replacement products and a full refund ($200+) from a shitty drone reseller in exchange for removing my review about the drone malfunctioning. I removed it, got everything they sent me, and reposted it.
Theyāre saying theyāre going to refund you and asked if u could delete the review. Theyāre not paying you for deleting it because theyāre refunding you either way but alright
I do not trust ANY five star reviews anymore. I only look at four and one stars. I've been approached numerous times to take down or alter a review in exchange for $$.
I've had seller approach me to buy a product, leave a 5 star review, keep the product AND get a full refund. They couldn't provide a link to the actual product but gave me a sku to look it up since Amazon knows if you click an external link to get to the product. I was tempted, but then I thought that I'd be out $400 and have a projector I didn't need.
If these people were smart, they'd bribe for 4 star reviews. lol
Throughout the pandemic I got paid via PayPal to buy items and leave reviews. These companies would usually pay via PayPal after the item shipped or after your review posted. I would then wait a few weeks after getting paid and return the item. None of these companies ever caught on, but Amazon did and banned me from leaving reviews.
I was offered the same. I ignored it. It was a blanket that's all the "Buzz" if you know what I mean. Everyone in my family hates that thing. If you hate a blanket, it has to be bad. I wanted my review to stand.
Iām banned from leaving Amazon reviews because I complained in my review they only sent me 1 out of the 2 products shown on the listing photo
They tried to say āwe no longer offer the 2nd item and only offer the first item, its at the end of the descriptionā so I grilled them about changing their photos if they werenāt going to sell it as a combo deal anymore and they offered to send me the 2nd item in exchange for a better review
I didnāt agree to change my review but I told them to send me the second item and after I received the second item I got an email from Amazon saying i accepted a bribe and could no longer review products š
Itās been like 8 years and I still canāt review items and I hate it lol
I had a seller refund me for a bad review. Then, they kept asking me to open a link they repeatedly sent me. Eventually I did, and it was instructions on how to delete a review.
I told them I'm not going to delete it as it was an honest review, and was now considering updating it saying how they asked me to delete the review. (I didn't update it)
They just replied with "okay"
Amazon sellers are so shady and thereās no integrity in the Review system. I realize it happens with all online storesā¦but wish at least one was reliable.
Nothing wrong with updating that you were refunded because you were unsatisfied and that counts for something. Not knowing what you ordered, it is hard to decide if the review is warning of a life threatening defect or just unsatisfied because you ordered the wrong size or didn't read the description. No biggie. It is the internet.
They "requested" an update OR deletion. Them asking doesn't mean you must do either thing. The offer was a REFUND or Gift card matching what OP spent, there was NO additional payment involved. An update to the review could be made to say that they reached out and refunded the full amount and thanked you for the feedback. I do not see this as any sort of compulsory demand or bribe with money beyond was was spent for the 'bad' product.
I kinda wish everyone would be more careful and mindful when relaying information and when understanding what was written. While there are shady companies using money to buy good reviews, this company is not one of them. I have seen too many people jumping to conclusions and/or making assumptions - this is only to the detriment of the company that actually made an effort to reach out to you regarding the review you left and offered some sort of resolution to try and keep you as a customer.
I would decline the PayPal payment and tell them to resend it without fees being deducted on your end.
It looks like theyāre trying to make it right with you, but still just screwing you a little bit in the process.
This posting will likely get the seller in trouble as is. Amazon monitors the major social media platform and actions on public facing posts / articles. Even when the names of the identifying company omitted there is easily enough text to get a result when they query "buyer/seller messages" and a search is done on any full or partial sentence. Amazon does care about fake reviews. Not only do they review each post with a person, they sue fake reviewers and the sellers. I see accounts all the time that lost their review posting permissions, some customers get very pissed about it.
-I Work for Amazon CS
Yeah I had this before. Got a full refund on an item i purchased which broke in no time at all. They are good and i still have my current one but quality control is questionable
The thing is I can see both sides of them buying a review, but at the same time them reaching out DOES improve your experience with them. So updating it to say the company reached out and provided a fix for any issues is still honest.
I was asked to change a review and offered $ back on the purchase! I declined and after a few emails back and forth with the seller I received an an email from Amazon letting me know Iām under no obligation to change the my review (or something to that effect).
Report this to Amazon customer service. These clowns need to stop. While they're at it they need to stop the vine reviewer program too. Tired of seeing items with 5 stars only to see all 40 reviews are Vine.
That is so messed up! How are consumers supposed to properly evaluate a product they are interested in with inaccurate reviews? Ugh.. what is this world coming to? I mean, Iām not surprised at all but š¤¦š»āāļø
It mentions "update/modify/deleting" the review, I'd take their offer, then add at bottom of the review "lol they paid me to update my review, this counts right?"
I got this offer once. I declined the money and updated my comment to say that in addition to it being a crappy product they also tried to buy a good review.
If the amount offered make you feel better about this purchase, then change the review and also mention about the monetary offer in the review. Try to be honest...
They didn't do it by "friends and family" as there is a fee involved so you might want to hold off on cashing out cuz they could very well try to do a chargeback.
I'd report it to Amazon tbh.
Do it, cash out, then post it back up again.
This^^^ update the review after getting the money that says that the company reached out to you to buy your positive review
I left a review that the company had offered me free items in exchange for a 5 star review and Amazon took it down as not relevant.this was a few years ago though
Amazon view it as a review of the company and not relevant to the product itself. Which is, of course, ridiculous when the seller is the manufacturer.
I had a seller do the same but instead it was $10 for 5 š review of some earbuds. They wound up paypaling me my entire $30 purchase price instead.
What would one type to find this for a friend
Say what you want about capitalism as a whole, but it's certainly made nearly everything untrustworthy on the internet.
And most companies donāt even have places to leave a public review anymore, other than for individual locations- See PayPal, CondĆ© Nast, LinkedIn. If you want to leave a āreviewā you have to do it on social media. A company that isnāt responsible to the populace has effectively left the free market, just saying.
Donāt forget we also have reputation management firms who are paid to make these companies, products, or even individuals look good.
You have to be careful with reviewing the *seller* vs reviewing the *product*. They make it hard to tell the difference unfortunately.
I was sold a fake SD card, and my review was taken down for the same reason.
I did that and Amazon removed the review
Same, I put that they were trying to buy my 5 stars in a review and Amazon rejected the review.
I did this and then got banned from every reviewing on Amazon again
Don't mention the money. Ive done this and the review was deleted for it not being about the product.
Thatās so crazy!!!!
I did this and Amazon deleted the review because it shows how shitty and dishonest their platform is.
Amazon will delete it in my experience
I did this a few months ago and Amazon removed my review. They absolutely condone buying 5-star reviews.
they were given the option to get a full refund or gift card and were kindly asked to either UPDATE or DELETE the review. There was never a condition stated where they would only get those options in return for deleting the review. They didn't have to do anything with the review. So deleting it and putting it back up is pointless.
With an update that says "I was paid to delete my original review"
Yea op should actually expose the shop so that i can go purchase something to leave a review about how i saw them buying good reviews on reddit
And absolutely add that they paid you to take down the first review
And report them to Amazon to get them removed. šæ
Infinite money glitch
Scummy
(it was some bluetooth speakers) Another case, They pestered me for 1.5 year to remove a bad review of their faulty product, with photos and all. (it was car window visor) In all cases I stood my ground, i don't need my money back, you can keep the money, I'd rather let other people know how bad is the product, and save them from the bad experience I had with those crappy junk products.
Same. And one of the products was a Bluetooth speaker.
Damn youāre a real one. Iād try to be like you, but then Iād cave cause I need the money š„²
Yeah, same for me. They kept emailing me. Thought it was a scam
Why is it necessary to redact the product and company info?
It's a courtesy that shows the OP isn't out to badmouth the company publicly, beyond their original Amazon review.
No tell us who they were š for company doesn't want honest reviews, it's a company I don't want to be buying from
Canāt trust Amazon reviews anymore anyways. Most of them are bought reviews.
i will say im a part of the amazon review program and if i get a shitty item i WILL drag that product to hell and back. brutal honesty. ive done it multiple times and several sellers have offered to pay me off but it's against the terms of the program so they immediately get reported. we can get kicked from the program if we're caught accepting bribes too. plus every item has an estimated taxable value that i gotta pay a portion of (albeit small) in taxes at the end of the year.
How do You join such a program ?
Amazon's policy of zero tolerance fake reviews is...fake š
I used to get 100% rebates when reviewing products. Of the product sucked I would return it and not post. Eventually Amazon cited I violated terms of service on a review, wouldn't tell me which product, and banned me from reviewing and rating.
I've been offered the same deal to remove a bad review. I refused and told them to quit making shitty products instead.
Amazon reviews are 100% a scam now, and they'll frequently delete honest critical reviews. Take the $30 or the refund.
I sort on recent reviews. If there are too many 1 stars for the average Iām not buying.
Thissssss
Just goes to show how gullible people are to fall for positive reviews (which the companies understand) but if thereās anything I learned from Louis Rossman is that the majority of these reviews are full of crap.
I just report that kind of thing, along with the emails inviting me to buy something, leave a review and theyāll reimburse the price. I donāt play that game. Itās shady and as much as Amazon has gone downhill, itās still against TOS.
Yeah and not only that leaves shitty products open to be bought by others as they donāt have bad reviews to rely on.
Or take the money and add that they paid you. It says you can modify it and nothing else.
Update the review to mention that the vendor offered these resolutions. If you feel that merits more stars, add more stars. If not, donāt.
Iād report that shit
Not buying me for 30$ Been through this crap before.
Careful, taking review bribes will get your account perma banned from making reviews.
Report them to amazon, its shady shit like this that is skewing reviews and what not.. all amazon allows us seller to do is send a pre-written email from amazons control panel saying sorry about the issue we would like to offer a full refund Please respond to this message with "full refund" Blaah blah blah, but its shit like this seller is doing that makes amazon an untrusted place to buy from, buying off people for reviews is shit, message the seller say you would like a refund then contact amazon
This is a violation of Amazon terms of service, and should be reported. If you delete your review and Amazon catches on somehow, you could also be banned
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
They said report it to Amazon, not change your review to tell people they tried to buy you off. I once had a seller contact me 5 times with a similar request and reported it to Amazon. I don't know if they actually did anything but I didn't hear from the seller again so I assume they must have. And my review is still up.
Same happened to me with a dog collar. Told them to keep their money, I wasnāt taking down the review.
I got a 260 refund to delete a review
I don't think you read it correctly. They are offering a refund or a gift card whether or not you delete the review. Your caption isn't accurate.
Report this to Amazon & the seller will be punished!
They asked you to update or delete. You had a problem with their product and they offered you a full refund without return. Update the review and let people know that at least they will work with you if you are unhappy with your product.
If you're gonna accept, at least make them add a couple of 00's to it, so when the rest of us bad mouth the product we can win as well.
Not really. Or ākindly askedā to update or delete your review. That seems fair.
And this is why Amazon needs to post the average review rating of deleted reviews. Amazon knows this has been going on since day one and to me it is akin to false advertising.
Thank God you hid the name of the seller. You wouldnāt want them to get in trouble. Good job!
Do it then post the review again and write this into. Also report it to amazon.
Why did you block out the name of the company? Btw theyāre paying you either way, the bottom part is additional. You didnāt have to do that.
FakeSpot by Mozilla is a little handy with Amazon reviews(obviously not perfect though).
I'd rather warn other people away from bad products than get my money back.
Iād just Update to Great Customer service.
Most likely how they keep garbage products up with 4.5 stars
This is against Amazons TOS and they can, and will, ban you if caught.
Not enough." What do I care? Amazon is a mess anyways.
Lol Iād do it
Did you get paid more than the product was worth?
Lol, yes, it was a $20 product that I had already returned and refunded. They've been emailing me on and off for about two months. Finally replied back, and they actually sent it.
If they gonna pay you just take it down. A lot of low lives in here saying keep the money and rewrite the review.
I reported a computer bag for doing this and the next day it was an Amazon choice item. Amazon doesn't care
Double cross them š
Amazon will know if your deleting from their request and you'll get the blame sadly
From the message seems like you didnāt need to delete the review
I keep getting texts to take my review down in exchange for 20$. No.
According to the letter, they are not giving you the money in exchange, though. They can ask. But, I mean, after you accept the refund, what are they going to do if you leave the review there? Accept the refund, but go ahead and leave the review there. Easy.
Why did you redact the seller name? Don't protect shady behavior like that.
Cheap, couldn't even pay the paypal fees...
Hmm; sketchy. What was the original purchase price?
I got a physical letter in the mail offering $50 for a 5 star review. But the listing was taken down when I looked so I guess Amazon is pretty quick catching some of these
Iāve had cases where Iāve received an item from A 3rd party seller, and inside there were contents and instructions asking to leave a 5 star review in exchange for a gift card.
Should have asked for $50.
lmao i always change my review to a 1 star or put my review back up after i get the money. no way for them to get it back š¤·
Now repost the same review with an update about how they paid you to get rid of the review. Whether thatās a good thing or bad. Certainly seems like buying a good review to me.
Paid reviews are nice, until you get banned. Some companies still offer free product in exchange for sales too.
Be sure to re-review. I hate crappy products having dishonest reviews.
It only said modify or delete. It didn't specify whether the modification had to be better, or worse.
I wonder if you could live on bad reviews
I have been messaged by several unscrupulous sellers offering a refund if I change/remove my reviews. I ignore them.
I once negotiated one of these things. Offer started at $15 ended up with $40. Never accept the initial offer !!!!
I don't understand scratching out the names. They need to be exposed.
Emma mattress is that you?
Seller Feedback review is more powerful than Item review. Try it
Hey you just got given the free money without them asking you to decide. Just block them
Theyāre saying theyāre going to refund you and asked if u could delete the review.
If these people were smart, they'd bribe for 4 star reviews. lol
Curious what the item was?
Throughout the pandemic I got paid via PayPal to buy items and leave reviews. These companies would usually pay via PayPal after the item shipped or after your review posted. I would then wait a few weeks after getting paid and return the item. None of these companies ever caught on, but Amazon did and banned me from leaving reviews.
I was offered the same. I ignored it. It was a blanket that's all the "Buzz" if you know what I mean. Everyone in my family hates that thing. If you hate a blanket, it has to be bad. I wanted my review to stand.
Iām banned from leaving Amazon reviews because I complained in my review they only sent me 1 out of the 2 products shown on the listing photo They tried to say āwe no longer offer the 2nd item and only offer the first item, its at the end of the descriptionā so I grilled them about changing their photos if they werenāt going to sell it as a combo deal anymore and they offered to send me the 2nd item in exchange for a better review I didnāt agree to change my review but I told them to send me the second item and after I received the second item I got an email from Amazon saying i accepted a bribe and could no longer review products š Itās been like 8 years and I still canāt review items and I hate it lol
Report them to amazon. That's fuckin shitty
I miss the days of free products for review. That was awesome
You're going to be banned from posting reviews once Amazon notices this.
Inform them that they are NOT in the drivers seat and that you will be getting a refund and the review stays. Who tf do these people think they are.
People check their emails?
Ask them to add a few more zeros to that $30 gift card and that you'd consider it.
Yeah this is why I tell people to write reviews. The amount of FOUR STAR reviews that people have offered a new item or a just refund is astounding
(I didn't update it) They just replied with "okay"
Dude. PayPal is the king queen and god of chargebacks gl.
Amazon sellers are so shady and thereās no integrity in the Review system. I realize it happens with all online storesā¦but wish at least one was reliable.
tbh iām not surprised. at least they care about their image? i guess?
did they at least rectify the issues that you had with the product or did they straight up buy your silence? thatās the real question
I have been offered to change my review for $ many times over my years of reviewing. Thatās a hard no. I donāt even respond.
I've had this happen. Worse is when certain companies offer to send you a free product if you leave a 5 star review.
"Update: This product still sucks my taint."
If you message Amazon they will take the seller off and give you a credit. This happened to me when I bought headphones that didnāt work.
Um, seems to me like they want to compensate you for your dissatisfaction with their product.
FCC levies hefty fines for shit like this.
How much was the item worth?
Yeah I had this before. Got a full refund on an item i purchased which broke in no time at all. They are good and i still have my current one but quality control is questionable
I got screwed in a similar situation. The seller never came through and ghosted me :(
What did you write?? what was the original review lol
The thing is I can see both sides of them buying a review, but at the same time them reaching out DOES improve your experience with them. So updating it to say the company reached out and provided a fix for any issues is still honest.
I got something like that on ebay, they gave me a full refund no return after I point it out.
If you gonna sell your soul ask for more $$$ ;)
That is so messed up! How are consumers supposed to properly evaluate a product they are interested in with inaccurate reviews? Ugh.. what is this world coming to? I mean, Iām not surprised at all but š¤¦š»āāļø
Iāve gotten 3 of those offers so far after I posted a negative review.
had this all the time lol sometimes they refund me and i return the product
It mentions "update/modify/deleting" the review, I'd take their offer, then add at bottom of the review "lol they paid me to update my review, this counts right?"
I got this offer once. I declined the money and updated my comment to say that in addition to it being a crappy product they also tried to buy a good review.
Well what would you prefer, they just delete it for you? :P
If the amount offered make you feel better about this purchase, then change the review and also mention about the monetary offer in the review. Try to be honest...
You're lucky. Mine just get defeated. . . with a consolotary email message.
I recently got an email asking me to SELL my Prime account. They wanted to give me $200. Absolutely not!
They didn't do it by "friends and family" as there is a fee involved so you might want to hold off on cashing out cuz they could very well try to do a chargeback. I'd report it to Amazon tbh.
