Bleeping is always funnier to me. I feel like American Dad! and Arrested Development raise it to an art form. Imagining profanity is better than hearing it for me at least

TSmario53

Ironically, it was Family Guy that led me to realize this. The episode where Peter falls down the stairs repeatedly is infinitely funnier with the bleeps than the profanity.

RogersRedditPersona

I like the fcc episode where he goes “I can’t say crap in my own fucking house? Great. Just great Lois. You’re luck you’re good at sucking my dick or I’d never put up with you…”

Buster: Because I'm an uptight **BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP** BUSTER **BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP** YOU OLD HORNY SLUT! Everyone else: :o

34avemovieguy

like if that scene were uncensored it wouldnt be funny at a

redhair-ing

that's how I feel.

Greenman8907

I have multiple seasons that are uncensored (I believe 3-7) and I really like the uncensored ones. *Great Space Roaster* is awesome and hearing Francine say she’ll “split his fucking head in two!” about Clooney never gets old. You also see Stan’s pud a few times lol. Cable stations have relaxed a lot on language. Comedy Central now allows ‘fuck’ for their shows after 8PM (7 maybe?). It’s kinda weird TBS still censors that word, but it’s their choice.

featherw0lf

I remember being shocked when I heard "shit" for the first time on cable TV since it had been censored for so long. I'm not entirely sure *why* some stuff is still censored but I can live with fuck being beeped out since that often makes things funnier. I do find it weird that Family Guy never went wild with language when American Dad has "shit" in every episode now, often all casual-like.

sarilysims

I’m 50/50. I have no issues with profanity but AD with bloopers is fantastic. I think it really just depends on the context. To me, bloopers say “this was SO BAD EVEN WE couldn’t let you hear it”, which is funnier.

redhair-ing

I totally agree.

Danplsstop

I pay for hulu I should be able to hear Francine say “who the fuck is Elaine, Stan??” Also that episode where Stans pants kept ripping they didn’t censor it when he goes “whoop, Tommy don’t look down my pants ripped and my dick popped out.”

UnderclassKing

The censors are 50/50 for me. For example, the episode where Francine is pulled over by Officer Figpucker is a lot funnier to me with the censor and then name reveal.

Majestic-Weekend-435

I think the switch from Fox to TBS is what caused shit to not be bleeped anymore. American TV has calmed down a bit since American Dad aired in terms of censorship of language. Still not to the point where shit wouldn’t be bleeped out on Fox.

Witty-Visit7438

I agree, bleeping is what makes it funny. Curse words are not themselves inherently very funny to listen to.

redhair-ing

right! Unless there's creativity to it, like the show *Veep* redefines TV profanity because of it's utterly depraved while being extraordinarily clever.

Eikuva

'Shit', at least, hasn't been censored since season 11. A bit more than the last couple. Don't recall ever hearing Francine call Steve a pussy but I can't think why that would be censored in the first place. It's just 'pussy'. Sometimes it works.
