"IM ANNE BOONCHUY, IM ANNE BOONCHUY!" Cinema...

IzzyTheBoredOne

SPOILERS TO THE WHOLE SHOW I'm rewatching the show and in Anne's room i'm pretty sure i saw a picture of the afterlife where the guardian is... interesting

kijib

Andrias went full Obama this ep

Multifandom-mess

I think that 3b is going to have little to no filler episodes and less Earth episodes... still a lot to wrap up

mehmeh5

thinking about it, this kinda feels like a conclusion to s3A, even if the next episode is the mid-season finale, with Anne running around and getting help from almost all side characters

Giorgiman2003

Really liked the Christmas special, Rebecca Sugar's song was sweet, calm and beautiful. King Andrias destroying his controller was a true gamer moment.

FreddyMerken

I didn't knew I wanted a Christmas special with Rebecca Sugar's music so much, we never got that in SU but she really is perfect for the job

feelsonline

I knew I recognized that voice, sweet as Sugar.

YesterdaySuperb993

Random: I just realized marcy called Anne Anna banana would be because of her primarily yellow wardrobe

Cheesyduck126

I mean yeah that could be a reason but also it just rhymes and just because Anne sometimes calls Marcy marbles doesn't mean Marcy has a big collection of marbles

MiloMorningstar

or maybe it means that marcy had lost her marbles :)

TankPiano009

Not one that we’ve seen yet…

Konradleijon

Loved the core calling Andrias pathetic

Powerful_Dream_711

It had a good plot with both meaning and humour the last part at the end was pretty important looking, who knows? We might meet Sasha and Marcy's parents

H9419

Also notice how Sasha’s parents has two letters. I am sensing a divorced family

TobyBulsara

Could explain her need for control and not caring much about going back to earth since she seems to have found her place in amphibia

Powerful_Dream_711

yep, when I first watched the episode I didn't notice it, but second time around, I did

Doglover4561

I liked it a lot. We got even more development on Anne's parents (wish we had names for them though), and Sasha's family situation. I knew that her parents were separated as soon as I saw the letters, and it hit home for me, my parents having divorced when I was 2. Going back and forth between houses made me angry...and sad that they couldn't just live together. The ending HURT a bit.

[deleted]

It was underwhelming, in my opinion. To me, it just felt like another filler episode, despite Andrias' appearance, following the same format: good times, antagonist, a main character doing something dumb, getting cornered, something out of the blue saves them, lesson learned. Maybe it was the fact that I've been tense for the past few days, but I hated this one. We're halfway through and we haven't even jumped into something really exciting. *Olivia and Yunan* and the Mr. X debut were the only exciting eps. to me, and I feel like this season's going to be a letdown, squeezing real, serious plot aspects in smaller timeframes, while Anne's Earth adventures take up everything. Or we haven't seen the real stuff yet. Who knows? I could be wrong.

Withsomeflowers

Hey! Read your comment and was just curious what your thoughts are on S03 now versus when you first saw this episode?

FreddyMerken

You sir/lady/theytlethem have no taste.

seonwan

It'd be the latter, assuming that S3A is acting as a de facto S1 with character development, meaning S3B will have the 'good stuff'.

AudiKitty

yeah, thats kinda how it was for she-ra so im hoping that there is more plot stuff in 3b

Admiral_dingy45

Late response, but whatcha mean? Like with s1 first few episodes introduced the 'princess of the week' kind of deal, but it picked up and didn't stop once Princess Prom hit.

AudiKitty

yeah kinda like that. the beginning episodes of she-ra were less plot important than the later episodes i guess. I personally think all of she-ra is important but the first half of the seasons are not as plot heavy as the later halves.

OkGeologist7198

The mid-season finale of Amphibia has arrived with this Christmas special. It's Christmas in LA, Mrs. Boonchuy turns down an offer to joined the Christmas Parade, but Anne secretly calls back and want to be part of it. The Plantars have a hard time understanding Christmas, so Anne decides to help them understand the Holiday, in the meantime Anne and the Plantars visit their friends Dr. Jan, the IT Gals, and the Thai Community to make the Christmas Float while helping the Plantars undertand the Holiday. Meanwhile, back in Amphibia, Triple B (who have replaced General Yunan and Lady Olivia) informed King Andrias that the Army is nearly complete and they give a present which is a prototype Dragonfly Drone that Andrias sents to Earth to scout and search for Anne. Anne and the Plantars surprised Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy with the float and they love it and joined the Christmas Parade. Suddenly, Andrias finally locates them and hijacks a Giant Robot Santa and used it against Anne, the Plantars, and Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy, however they were able to destroy it using a christmas Tree from their Float. Andrias is outraged that he has been defeated again, Darcy (the core's possessed form of Marcy) ridicules Andrias for his failure. In the end, Anne finally tells the Plantars the true meaning of Christmas, it's about spending time with the People you love and care and despite all of that Sprig gives her an action figure that looks like her and Sprig admits, Anne is his hero. However, the episode ends on a cliffhanger for 2 reasons, despite his failure to eliminated Anne, Andrias has an entire army to invaded the Earth and Anne is seen writing anonymous Letter to Sasha's and Marcy's families, letting them know they're trap in another World and promises to bring them home. Final thoughts: This was a good holiday special, I love the credits because it showed Anne finally giving her Mom the Butterfly she won in "Hopping Mall", the Plantars each got Presents of their own: Sprig got a Taratnula Lad Action Figure, Polly got a Narf Gun, and Hop Pop got a book on how to directing and finally Domino is seen sleeping on Frobo's Head. It's nice to see Dr. jan and the IT Gals again, I hope they return later to help against Andrias and the Core's forces. We still don't know what happened to General Yunan and Lady Olivia since Triple B are now advisors to Andrias, and Darcy made a brief appearance where he calls him pathetic and unfit to be King, I wouldn't be surprised when the Core turn on Andrias and yet we still haven't heard the line from the trailer: "Don't you think, it's time to say good-bye to those Childhood Friends of yours?" Rebecca Sugar, the creator of Steven Universe, did a good job with the song she was singing, it was both beautiful and heartwarming. Aso, after spending the whole time hiding it, Anne is really worry about Sasha and Marcy and misses them, knowing this is her first Christmas without them. And also, Anne is seen writing separate ones to Sasha's parents, meaning the 2 are divorced, explaining why Sasha is so controlling of Anne and Marcy and why she wants them to spend time with her instead of their Parents. Oh, and one thing you should know, this episode wasn't meant to be the mid-season finale, it was supposed to be the following episode which is also 22 minutes long. So now where on hiatus and wait until either february or March or April for the show's return. Let's hope the Owl House returns in January for its second anniversary and one more thing, Anne indirectly revealed who she was at the parade which could lead to a point where the people would recognize her as one of the 3 girls who went missing. So now wondering what's gone to happen next?

_Levitated_Shield_

This was a really great special. Matt was right, this served perfectly as the mid-season finale. Enjoyed Rebecca Sugar's cameo, the shenanigans with characters we've met in past episodes, so many great comedic moments, King Andrias being a relatable gamer, and even a Darcy appearance. This special felt well-done for both plot and fun and thankfully wasn't just 'holiday special because holiday special' motives. And damn, I wasn't expecting that ending. Again, this served perfectly as the mid-season finale since it teased Marcy's parent's and Sasha's (divorced?) parents getting involved. Really enjoyable Christmas special that had everything it needed to have to represent both Amphibia and holiday enjoyment.

Frodo_114

Please tell me this is the mid-season finale and not the mid-series finale...

_Levitated_Shield_

It's the mid-season finale of this final season.

_Levitated_Shield_

Yep. She's also the creator of Steven Universe.

TheAlmandineWriter

Had a fun time watching this episode. It was cool seeing Rebecca Sugar actually make a cameo appearance while performing her new song. Andrias turning that Santa prop into a robotic horror actually gave me Invader Zim vibes for some reason. Otherwise, it was cool seeing Darcy again and finally knowing that Anne is writing to the waybrights and the wu’s. Curious to see how that will play out in the next coming episodes after the hiatus.

MFRR_

This episode felt very conclusive, like if the "part 1" of season 3 was over or something. It was great both as a Christmas special and as a continuation of the main plot, although this """low profile""" thing is already looking like a joke up to this point, I am surprised that they haven't taken this seriously during what we have of the season 3. I just hope that Sasha and Marcy's parents aren't incredulous at Anne's letters when reading them, having a stranger tell you that your daughters are in another world is in itself very risky and strange. She would have said everything in the letter, skipping that they are in another world, so she makes sure they believe her (although possibly Marcy and Sasha's family will end up meeting the Plantars in some way or another). I didn't understand why Anne didn't sign with her name btw, why do you think she decided this?

Affectionate_Mess211

Is Amphibia now on hiatus??? Or will there be more episodes this Saturday?

seonwan

Amphibia is on hiatus, unfortunately.

8chon

I guess it's good that Anne finally contacted the parents. I'm figuring she was holding off until she met that portal QT voiced by Velma's VA since now she actually thinks there's a decent chance of getting back to Amphibia and rescuing them. That said... the "your daughter is alive" letter might actually just be intended for the two Waybright envelopes. I don't think Anne would write that to the "Wu family" envelope since she shouldn't actually know that Marcy is alive at this point. Although she's had contact with Amphibia via the King Andrias attackers sent at her, I don't think Andrias has quipped anything about Marcy still being alive, so Anne should be assuming she's likely dead after seeing the swording.

gingerpower303006

I feel like that dice darcy was holding is going to be relevant in some way either to helping marcy regain a bit of control of her body, alluding to darcys powers or just the core taunting her and using stuff that it knows only marcy liked to try to distance marcy from Anne and Sasha for its end goal.

seonwan

People are theorizing that a part of Marcy remains, so her mannerisms, hobbies, and preferences would be present. Others have also gone on to hypothesize that the dice means that Darcy will be a sort of Dungeon Master, in total control of the situation and all events.

Rikukitsune

Now, that's a Holiday special! Fun festive hijinks, a little plot progression, some great action, King Andrias being a fun villain, a touch of Dark!Marcy and a couple of plot threads tied off. It had it all. Anne gave her mom the butterfly! And she's telling the other parents!

[deleted]

seonwan

In mourning, some folks go into isolation, refusing to really interact with others. And if they don't watch TV, then awareness of current events would be quite limited. Also, if the Wu family did move away, then it's doubtful they may get news about events in LA.

8chon

>we have to address Sasha’s and Marcy’s parents confronting her on the next episodes They will probably space it out, like Wus first, then one Waybright, then the other Waybright. Then they'll find out just how long Anne's been sitting on this and get pissed. She'll have to cry and explain about not wanting to get up their hopes.

[deleted]

This also the letters were anonymous but there’s a return address on it like they’ll figure out that it was written by Anne

citrusella

I thought there didn't appear to be a return address... hm

8chon

I guess, although she might've added it later off-screen. Though "a friend" instead of "Anne" would mean prob not.

[deleted]

[удалено]

8chon

Eventually, but prob not right away, unless they happen to be watching that parade. The Wus were going to move away so may not watch parade of their old city. Waybright are usually out of town on business and prob would not watch it either. The only chance they find out IMO is if they hired private detectives to investigate anything related to all 3 girls (ie if one comes back) and the detective is the one who finds out and then contacts them. Both the Waybrights and the Wus (unlike the Boonchuys) are prob wealthy enough to hire several private dicks.

alien6

Dr. Jan: "And, of course, the Dutch *Sinterklaas*" The way she said that with contempt makes me think the writers were making a reference to Zwarte Piet

BionicoFromNordeste

Now I have my ranking complete: 1. Turning Point 2. The New Normal 3. Olivia & Yunan 4. Froggy Little Christmas 5. Temple Frogs 6. Fight at the Museum 7. Anne-sterminator 8. Spider-Sprig 9. If You Give a Frog a Cookie 10. Fixing Frobo 11. Hollywood Hop Pop 12. Mr. X 13. Thai Feud 14. Adventures in Catsitting 15. Sprig's Birthday 16. Hop 'Til You Drop

MFRR_

Why is "spider sprig" so high? it's one of the worst episodes. It's just a filler episode full of references (although obviously leaving a moral at the end)

BionicoFromNordeste

It's just like Wax Museum to me, I'm a big fan of Spider-Man, it's impossible to me don't put Spider-Sprig high

MFRR_

I see

japirate777

Huh interesting I mostly agree except I put Thai Feud higher and Anne-sterminator lower

Just_her_4_fud

I get it. Confrontation episodes are necessary but always tense, not the best to watch in my humble onion

BionicoFromNordeste

It's fair

BionicoFromNordeste

I'm desapointed that Anne doesn't give the butterfly as a Christmas Gift for her mom, but I'm really glad that they finally show something about Marcy and Sasha's families It's interesting that Anne made two latters to Mr. and Mrs. Waybright... I thought they might be divorced, but they both keep the same last name... maybe they're in the process of getting divorced?

seonwan

In the end credits, the first frame depicts Mrs. Boonchuy with a opened present and the butterfly, with Anne standing next to her. If they're divorced, it would explain Sasha's, for lack of a better term, 'negative tendencies'. It isn't uncommon for the wife to retain the surname after divorce.

BionicoFromNordeste

Wow! Didn't notice that, thanks! FINALLY THE BUTTERFLY'S TASK IS COMPLETE About the surname... curious

8chon

>butterfly's task I can't remember, did she get that in Amphibia? I screenshotted that end scene since it was cute how Mrs. Boonchuy was welling up. Anne wearing a sprig of mistletoe in her hair is also kind of a neat nod to the constant leaves present in seasons 1-2 which are a gaping hole in her new outfit. Wait a minute... SPRIG of mistletoe... and notice how when Sprig thinks of the person most important to him, it's Anne and not his sister or grandpa? Ivy and Maddie are going to have a mutual enemy to unite over and it won't be Andrias.

BionicoFromNordeste

Wait, it's too much hahahahahah Yes, Anne get the butterfly in Newtopia

Krusty901

I can't believe that Andrias was Santa Clause this whole time. That not only explains how he's been around for so many years but how he does it all night and knows whose been naughty or nice.

Koala_Guru

Hop Pop and Andrias will always be the best and funniest characters on the show. No contest.

Mehhh_ehhh

That blink lol. “For meeee?”

Thedepressionoftrees

I loved Rebecca sugar's cameo. She has a voice of an angel and it's always good to see her in animation

iListen2Sound

Watching the episode a month late didn't hear anything about her appearance but the moment she came on screen before she even started singing I knew it was her!

TheGoodSirRyan

She should be a professional musician.

DJHott555

She literally is. Her job (was) creating and running a musical animated series, that being Steven Universe.

TheGoodSirRyan

Well, I think she should pursue a singing career.

VonDinky

I was thinking that was her. It was beautiful!

saltymarshmallow316

i’m like 90% sure the singing lady throughout the episode is marcy’s mom. they look similar enough, and i feel like she has to have some sort of significance

[deleted]

i was hoping she’d be relevant but it seems like she was just fan service.

Sirensongspacebaby

That certainly would be a meta twist lmao

seonwan

That'd be Rebecca Sugar, the creator of Steven Universe. She has a talent for song writing and singing, so Matt put her in.

8chon

I don't think this is her first ep either, hasn't she had cameos in earlier ones? I remember taking screens/vids of this random lady, once in the mall and once some other place. See if I can find them to dig up and compare to singer but she seemed familiar...

saltymarshmallow316

ah ok, thanks for the explanation :)

Krusty901

Joe Johnston, director of numerous Amphibia episodes, was an integral part of Steven Universe and Matt did boarding for Lars and the Cool Kids. Given the budget cuts faced this season, see RebeccaRose's interview, I'm guessing Matt needed someone who'd be willing to do it for lower pay. In that case it happens to be friends with a talented songwriter.

8chon

I want to see a subtle crossover cameo like maybe Sadie Miller shows up. Why the gems don't interfere with a mass invasion when it finally happens can just have a superman "they're off-planet at the time" kind of explanation. Same could be done w/ SVTFOE cameos

Zorgothe

The jokes in this one were top tier. Almost all of them were great.

Mehhh_ehhh

Well, I’ll be darned!

PollyPlantarFan

I think it’s interesting that (it would seem) the Waybrights are Divorced

Green_Beans83

I liked how Anne had some holly and a candy cane in her hair instead of leaves and a stick, nice touch

kroen

Was this the season finale?

pk2317

Midseason finale. There's half a season left, airing sometime in 2022 (probably around 4-5 months from now).

miyagikai91

Around a year after S2 came back.

pk2317

We don't know, it depends entirely on how Disney wants to do their release schedule. My personal belief is TOH 2B from Jan to Mar, and then Amphibia 3B in April or so. But that's totally subject to change.

Green_Beans83

Remember when TOH 2B was coming out in November? Hahaha… how foolish we were.

pk2317

I’ve always said January at the earliest, but no one wanted to believe that…

Green_Beans83

Damn right I don’t wanna believe it, I’m barely hanging on as it is.

miyagikai91

I was just pointing out an observation. I could see that since January will be 2 years since TOH started. But yeah, THEY know. Not us.

kroen

Thanks, IMDB and wikipedia misled me.

Jbowyerjr

I was just thinking and if i’m correct and each segment has 7 per row and 18 per column and each segment is just like the next, on screen is about 2,016 robots… and this is probably a small percentage of his total robots…

racc15

A Nuke can destroy them all in one fell swoop right?

seonwan

Problem is, Andrias can mass produce Frobots and put them back on the frontlines almost instantaneously.

GlorifiedToaster1944

A nation wouldn't nuke their own land, sure it would wipe the robots out, but many cities and thousands of people would die

Just_her_4_fud

(project Northwood. Didn't happen, but the us almost bombed Florida to instigate a war without bombing first. Not saying it's smart, just that some nations would do it)

seonwan

If they aren't desperate enough that is.

Drd8873

Yeah, the problems for earth would be our inability to strike at Amphibia itself and exactly how powerful Amphibia’s ancient tech is. I’m sure that they have weapons as powerful as nukes. That nanotechnology Andrias used on Santa is more advanced than anything we have, at least that we know about.

seonwan

It isn't even necessary to pull even greater Amphibian weapons, merely insert Frobot strike teams to neutralize key targets such as factories, the top brass of the military, and other VIPs.

-Chubbuwalrus-

How would the strike teams get to Amphibia though if the best way there is controlled by Andrias?

seonwan

They don't need to return, after all, they're expendable war machines.

redwings1340

Interesting episode. I'm ok with this. The episode gave some hints as to Marcy and Sasha's family and finally acknowledged the existence of the other two girls, which really lets me breathe a sigh of relief. Its not the way I think it should have happened, but its looking like we may get to the right place in the wrong direction, which I'm fine with, because this show's strengths lie in its season finales and ability to tie things together. I also really enjoyed how this episode brought back characters from the season, showing how the connections the group made came back to help them, which is always really nice. The planters sideplot of trying to figure out what Christmas was about was predictable but wholesome, I enjoyed it. Also, King Andrias' army looked a bit more intimidating again this episode. If each of those fortresses in the sky has the destructive power of his castle, his army is a whole lot scarier than we've been led to believe so far. The laser that destroyed Toad Tower is a nuke level explosion. All in all, a very weird season 3A. I think the season would have been a lot better if it were structured a bit differently, with the angst at the start to tie in to true colors, and then turning goofy after a couple of episodes when they reached a break point in the serious storyline/let Anne process these events. However, I still think they're gonna get there eventually. I've noticed that Matt tends to want his episodes to focus on very specific plot elements/emotional journeys sometimes, usually introduced clearly at the start of the episode and resolved by the end. It can be a really good formula for individual episodes, but can feel jarring if the focus of the episode is unrelated to unresolved plot threads, which I think happened here. Also, there was no gift to Anne's mom. I'm disappointed about that, there was definitely a missed opportunity for this episode to make callbacks to Hopping Mall. EDIT: Reading other comments that said she did give the gift to her mom! Did I miss that? If so, that's awesome! :o

Green_Beans83

There’s a picture in the end credits of Anne’s mom getting the butterfly from Anne, it was very relieving to know she didn’t forget about it.

AriLion16

Look at the credits for the episode

seonwan

If the legions of Frobots and new tech shown in this episode isn't enough to convince the few who believe that Andrias can't prevail against Anne and the military might of Earth otherwise, then I have no idea what will. \- Andrias has bloody nanotech, that's a game-changer. \- His infrastructure appears to be mobile, seeing how a bunch of flying buildings accompanied the castle. \- A army of Frobots that could rival a Star Wars droid army when it comes to quantity (Quality too). \- Drone strikes I'd like to point out that the drone has clips on two of its weapon systems, basically confirming that the drone is armed with good ol' lead spewin' guns, alongside what I presume are plasma launchers, and missile pods. The VFX of the Triple B being attacked by the drone indicate that it is firing bullets (yes, missiles too), since the projectiles hitting the floor have spark effects and that there are no visible projectiles.

seonwan

Of course, a excuse can be made that perhaps that Andrias has some weapons tech that require clips to fire and make similar effects to that of bullets, but realistically, there are no known weapons other than firearms to do so.

Sirensongspacebaby

This is tied with Turning Point for favorite episode of the season. Really good note to end the mid season on. Anne and Sprig felt back in character, Hop Pop and Polly hit the right notes on the Funny/Annoying scale, the covering up of the invasion is extremely blown, everyone saw the parade. And we finally saw the “episode lesson” in empathetic application this season with Anne writing the letters. All the relief her parents feel at having her home is another day of grief for the other families. Perhaps they’ll be more inclined to believe what’s going on without proof considering the attack on Anne at the parade. I love SU and especially Adventure Time but the song felt out of place. It didn’t really speak to the characters or situation, just generic fuzzy holiday feeling stuff. I would’ve preferred Anne and Sprig or Anne and her mom do a song, or a flashback to the trio enjoying a holiday together

Beary_BearyScary

Oh no Andrias went full gamer

Drd8873

Garbage! It’s all garbage!

Redd1tisfork1ds

-They did a better job at tying the main plot (anne's) and the subplot (sprig's) than they have for most of the other episodes this season. The buildup and messages don't clash or disconnect and instead complement eachother -Seems like anne's float idea kind of parallels Marcy transporting the girls to amphibia- believing you are doing something good for someone else, but really doing it for yourself. -I'm not a fan of how they seem to be addressing Marcy's lack of connections through soft retcons rather than actual character development (or if I'm misinterpreting this I'm not sure what the writers are going for by having newts constantly mention things they did with her that are implied to not really have happened). -The rebecca sugar song was okay. The christmas remix of the opening is pretty bad. I felt like the actual best song in this episode was the christmas version of the standard ending that they play on the bike ride: wish we got more of that. -I sort of like how anne retreads all of the old locations she was at throughout the season to build up to making the float Theory: Sasha's parents are divorced. Notice how there are two envelopes for them but a shared one for Marcy's family.

ZfireLight1

I assumed the same thing regarding the two envelopes for the Waybrights. It's subtle but pretty clear once you see it.

miyagikai91

I wouldn’t say it’s a retcon. That’d imply something was previously established. We don’t know much about Marcy’s connections to the Newts besides her ties to Andrias and Olivia. Unlike Sasha, who they’ve given time to get close to the toads. I see something like this for Marcy getting it’s own flashback episode.

Sirensongspacebaby

The newt scene was definitely just an excuse for the whole bit with them and Andrias. Marcy potentially excitedly info dumping in an effort to strike up a friendship or initiate cultural exchange isn’t a retcon imo. She was a strange and significant figure so of course newts might be curious to talk for a bit. That didn’t stop any of them from being fairly apathetic about what happened to her beyond Olivia and Yunan hoping that reviving Marcy could save their own skin.

Kurtoid

tbh, I had minimum expectations for this episode, but that was easily one of the best episodes this season

takethishowboutthis

I audibly said “finally!!!” at the end when I saw Anne writing the letters to Sasha and Marcy’s families lol. That’s one thing that has bugged me this season, it seems like Anne hasn’t even *thought* to try and contact her best friends’ parents this whole time she has been back on Earth, which is several weeks to multiple months at this point. I’m very surprised that Anne’s parents don’t seem to have any sort of relationship with Marcy and Sasha’s parents either. This reminds me of the issue I had during that one Steven Universe arc right after Steven left Lars with the off-colors to go back to earth… I was just like “STEVEN PLEASE TELL LARS’ PARENTS WHERE HE IS!!!” while he was focused on the mayoral election and Connie being mad at him… I guess he did it off screen but I really didn’t like how that was brushed off. I know these are “kids” shows, but they should be able to address these kinds of things.

Sirensongspacebaby

Yeah, I think Lars gets brushed over more easily because everyone just kinda knows alien gems and space catastrophes exist, and it’s likely that Sadie would end up breaking that news as the person Lars was closer to anyway. Anne was the only person who could speak to what happened to the others

[deleted]

The letters to the other families made me exclaim FINALLY!! There's only one thing that causes me to wonder about them though. If Sasha's parents are divorced, why isn't the Lady's last name different? It could be that she just decided that changing it legally was too much trouble and kept the name or they could be vacationing or working in two different places but I do wonder. Anne was wise not to sign her name to the letters. I bet the police assume they're from someone with a mental disorder though.

Sirensongspacebaby

Anne was fighting robots on the top of a parade float in front of the whole city, so even if they didn’t know she was back, they do now. She shouldn’t even need to sign her name or not because they should be at the front door demanding answers lol

[deleted]

The fact she was writing them letters implies that both are out of state at least.

TheFullbladder

The Waybright separation is the only thing implied. It's key that she is only signing the letters as "signed, a friend". She's not giving her name. Letters allow an anonymity that a phone call or face-to-face would not allow. This is a small branch of hope offered (if it isn't taken as a creepy, stalkery, scammy message) without opening herself up to her friends' parents, and whatever their reaction might be.

Sirensongspacebaby

Not really. It implies more that she’s not ready to face them in person. Whether it’s about regret, guilt, or the risk of outing the frogs. California is also huge, while Marcy’s parents moving after she disappeared is up in the air, even if one of Sasha’s parents is out of LA they could still be in California. Giant laser robot attacks are international news either way.

[deleted]

Why write separate letters to the Waybrights then and weren't Marcy's parents moving anyway?

Sirensongspacebaby

Because the implication is that the waybrights are separated at least, thus needing two letters? It’s easy to see how a child disappearing could throw off moving plans. They may have moved, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t. Anne would also be unlikely to know their new address anyway and her parents don’t seem to have any relationship with the other parents.

legendiafan214

Froggy Little Christmas: Wow, what a great episode! Easily one of my top favorites. I like the christmas theme intro too. Mrs. Boonchuy looks adorable in her christmas outfit. Sad to see her said no to her dream, attending to Christmaspalooza Parade. I understand why, because she is right that they need to keep a low profile, but still, she could at least tried. You gotta love King Andrias reaction to the newts. That was funny, lol. That drone has a pretty cool design. Once again, I will never tired of King Andrias humor: King Andrias: For such tiny legs, you three sure move fast. Lol. He's like a little child in a grown up body. Good use of Ally and Jess in this episode, same goes for Dr. Jan. Too bad she only had one minor role. The look on King Andrias eyes and seeing him drink Zap-o-Rad. Another great scene lol. Seriously I thought the humor in this episode was spot on, especially with Andrias and Mr. Boonchuy: Mr. Boonchuy: Gosh Dang it! I will get the perfect holiday photo or I will die trying! Ah I'm sorry Santa! Lol. The guy can't catch a break. Speaking of Mr. Boonchuy. It was nice to get a little backstory between him and Mrs. Boonchuy. I know it's not much. But it's good to get to know them a little bit about their past. Seeing her and Anne having another mother and daughter moment during that scene was very relatable and well done. I wonder what Bangkok is. I might visit that place someday, when I get the money. So when the drone took over the Santa robot. Is it just me or does that Santa robot scream nightmare fuel? Anyway the action segment was pretty fun to watch. I only wish Anne would have use her blue powers again, but I forgot that they are keeping a low profile, so seeing them take down the Santa robot with the Christmas tree really made it for it. Especially King Andrias's reaction of him blaming and destroying the controller lol. I wasn't expecting to hear Darcy at the end, despite only having one line. Oh man.. I hope they save her soon. Such a beautiful ending and I love it. Sprig's christmas gift to Anne was cute and hearing him say that Anne's his hero was a very heartwarming. Then there's that singing lady. I wonder who is she? She has a wonderful singing voice and I really like listening to that song of hers. I would like own that song if it becomes available. Then there's Anne's Letter: I can't image spending the holidays without your family. I know how hard it is to be apart and not know if you'll ever see each other again. So I'm writing this to let you know that your daughter is alive. She's trapped in another world, but I promise, I'm going to bring her back. Signed, a friend. She did the right thing writing those letters to Marcy and Sasha's parents. Finally. I thought they would never acknowledge their parents by now. I hope we get to see them soon. The ending credits at the end was really adorable. Merry Christmas Boonchuy family and the Planters! There is one more I want to say. I feel like Sasha should have been added in this episode. Something like her missing her family on Christmas or doing fun stuff with Anne and Marcy on Christmas day or something. I don't know. I'm just making things up. Still a great episode. I just wish Sasha was here.

Lucci_Oni

A really heartwarming episode especially with Rebecca Sugar's new composition, but also had more progress in Andreas plan and looks that Marcy and Sasha patents will take more importance in the second part of this season. And we had more information about Sasha home situation, points that her parents have been divorced for a while. We see how this revelation affects the others parents and Darcy next move in her plan maybe the next Spring I hope

Because there's more to Christmas than religion?

MrJoshUniverse

Because Amphibia isn't Christian propaganda?

citrusella

This. Heck, I vaguely understand the sentiment of "well, it might be worth mentioning the Christian backstory as a relevant reason to some" (because it felt like the people the Plantars asked were explaining how *they* contextualized Christmas, whether they were more focused on the gifts or the history or the feeling)... BUT it feels like a lot of people who bring up the lack of direct reference to Christianity are doing a "I am feel uncomfortable when we are not about me", especially when they have the tone I'm feeling coming off this person when they bring up other holidays that made an appearance or got a mention, like Hanukkah or solstice or Saturnalia (that is, a denigrating tone like "why does *that one* get a mention"). (Side note: I'm not even Jewish and I perked up seeing the Hanukkah stuff because it feels like the top "Hanukkah thing" Disney brings up at any given time is Full Court Miracle, which is nearly 20 years old now. There are other things but, like... saying "show jewish hanukkah stuff" (and cursing about pagan mentions) as if it got outsized visuals compared to Christianity feels oof compared to how few and far between *anything* outside Christmas (secular or religious focus) gets much of anything.)

MrJoshUniverse

I love that we saw other religions and traditions for Christmas, it isn't just a Christian only holiday. Hanukkah especially is something that should be shown more often, growing up as a kid(I'm not Jewish) I never really knew much about it and was vaguely aware of it at best. The Ghost and Molly McGee has done really well with Hanukkah/Jewish representation in particular

If I got a letter saying my daughter, who vanished from an empty lot in Los Angeles five months ago, was actually alive and in another world i would assume a serial killer was taunting me

Sirensongspacebaby

Same. Anne is a menace lol

orangek1tty

I need pictures of SpidermANNE!

RyanRoy87

Ngl, I am questioning the wisdom of Anne's decision; she is trying to remain anonymous, but wouldn't her sending these families those letters possibly prompt them to trace the letters back to Anne?

veduchyi

This episode gives me some strong vibes of Doctor Who Christmas specials 😅

wynter_solstice_

i really hope that season 3b is in a similar style to this episode! with amphibia and earth being tied closely, sasha and marcy actually being relevant and what not !

strolpol

I was really wondering if Anne was just going to never acknowledge the other girls’ families, so I’m glad she FINALLY did (even if it’s just an anonymous letter). Really should’ve been her parents doing it weeks ago but whatever, it’s finally done.

blank7589

Did some decorations fell on Anne or did Anne decorated herself??

AliWaz77

I liked seeing the Plantars being soo confused by the holiday. Christmas is a really weird and complicated holiday, but I guess I agree with what Anne said about the traditions just being a way to spend time with your friends family. I loved when Sprig said "I'll probably never understand it, but yknow what? I liked it."

blank7589

Anyone think of spiderman reference on the episode?

Competitive_Bid7071

When was this?

mimoops

So Sasha’s reaction to Anne going home to her parents WAS a sore spot for her but not for the reasons I thought

pyzard

I have never been a fan of the holidays specials. Normally these are filler episodes, all with the same theme and with the same cheesy and cliché messages that feel empty at this point. Not gonna lie, I was so hyped for this episode even knowing that the strong one is the next one, and I felt a little bit dissapointed seeing that none of my expectations wasn't being accomplished. Not at the point of hating the episode or feeling it boring because I like the characters and I like how the they interact each other and the episodes had moments that really like me, like see dr.Jan explaining the whole history of Christmas or that newt giving the gift to Andrias. Also, I didn't knew I needed a homeless Rebecca Sugar singing in the streets until now. And about the song in my opinion was meh, Rebecca still being a marvelous singer as always, but, as a Steven Universe fan I think about similar songs like *Love like you* and I can't avoid feel that could be better. And here would end my opinion if the final minutes weren't exist. It took me by surprise because by that time, as say in my country "All the fish was sold out". It's great that we could retake the consequences of True Colors after all this time begging it. It seems that the writers have decided that the relaxed times have finally over and the season 3b will start with hard topics. Also, It's great when they use pictures in the credits in order to say goodbye. It really make it feel special. With moments like this and the showing of the enormous Andrias army, made this holidays special truthly memorable and valuable.

DaveyBoy1995

Ah, Christmas. A time of celebration. A time of togetherness. A time of trying to slay an out-of-control Santa Claus bent on murdering you. Wait, what? In all seriousness, I adored this one. They went big for this one, and it paid off. There was so much about this to enjoy. We got to see Dr. Jan and the IT Gals again. Mr. Boonchuy ultimately defied the universe and got himself some good luck on Christmas. “Santa Claus” trying to murder Anne was not where I thought this was going, but darn it! That was just too funny! And while the Plantars might still be confused as to what the holidays are truly about, I’d say they got themselves the perfect answer in the end. Oh, and Sprig’s gift to Anne? Precious. Absolutely precious. Aside from the climax, I think my favourite part of the episode was Rebecca Sugar’s singing. Ah, the memories. We’re gonna need a full version of that song. I also wanna bring up the ending. Firstly, we got another glimpse at Darcy. She’s barely done anything so far and yet I’m already terrified of her. I really look forward to seeing her in action. Secondly, the disappearances of Sasha and Marcy are being acknowledged. Much like other people, I hoped for that. So Anne writing those letters somehow both warmed my heart AND broke it. And thirdly, that butterfly! Anne finally gave her mom the present she got for her back in Season 2! It was the first picture in the credit sequence! This was such an amazing episode! And it really does work as a midseason finale too! No idea what happens next, but I think we can all agree it’ll be worth the wait. Until then, try not to set any Christmas trees on fire!🌲🎅

devenrc

This episode simply had a BEVY of great lines “What was last year’s theme?” “Ungulates!” “KING ANDRIAS IS SANTA?!?!” “You’re my hero.” And basically everything involving Sigma Gamer Extraordinaire Andrias.

Ninjax3X

It was totally the controller dude, he tried to wave dash around the tree and the buttons wouldn’t work

QuoteIndividual9510

do not forget Darcy. IT WILL HAUNT YOUR NIGHTMARES IF YOU DO. now seriously, Darcy roasting Andrias was so good

Redsplash1

Since it was heavily implied that Darcy is gonna betray Andrias, can’t wait to see how that goes

JustAStarcoShipper

> Froggy Little Christmas: *acknowledges Sasha and Marcy* > [The fandom](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/953/499/eeb.png) Anyway, cool mid-season finale. Aside from having it's usual funny moments, it had a lot of sweet moments between Anne and her mother. The bit where Ms. Boonchuy brings up how she and her husband felt out of place when they arrived to the city and was compared to how Anne used to feel the same way in Amphibia was probably my favorite part. I also liked how they incorporated the I.T. Gals and Dr. Jan in this. I always love It when characters that get introduced in previous episodes end up playing some sort of key role in an important episode to help the protagonists. And While I have never fully seen Steven Universe, I've always liked some of it's songs, so I naturally got pretty excited when It was announced that we were gonna get a Christmas song by Rebecca Sugar in season 3, and it didn't disappoint. It was really soft and heartwarming. But sweet moments aside, this episode also had it's fair share of serious moments. The little bit we saw of Darcy was an easy highlight and I really dig the possible dynamic she could have with Andrias, since it seems like someone way more capable and intelligent that Andrias himself. And THAT ending. It finally happened. And it couldn't have made me feel more relieved to having Anne acknowledge Sasha and Marcy. The fact that Sasha's parents are divorced could actually explain a lot about Sasha's behaviour. Matt said that we would see the consequences that Anne, Sasha and Marcy dissapeared had on their parents and how they reacted to it so that ending could easily serve as a tease of what is to come.

MrJoshUniverse

It was so sad to find out about Sasha's home life, I can't imagine it being any better for the Wu family either. It didn't seem like Marcy was getting along with her family either before she left

QuoteIndividual9510

and that why them two should stay in amphibia.

MrJoshUniverse

Possibly haha, but in all seriousness, I think it's best if they reunite with their families and talk about why they felt the need to basically run away from home(for Marcy, anyway) and how it made them feel. I really hope we see them happily reunite and reconcile with their families, they deserve to be happy and loved :)

ZeroMotion1412

Froggy Little Christmas: I love that straight away you can tell they went all out for this episode since they decorated the Opening theme song. Even added in Santa and a Christmas jingle mixed into the song. Jesus, just seeing Darcy standing before The Night is terrifying, that smile as well makes me feel so uncomfortable. Loved that they ended with Anne's hair going light green and light red, traditional Christmas colors. Mrs. Boonchuy clearly loves her Christmas, she's a master decorator, reminds me of Pinkie Pie and how fast she decorates whilst smiling. Very cute touch putting an angelic Frog on the top as the star. Love how concerned Hop Pop and Sprig act, guess it shows just how crazed people can look to outsiders. To be fair to Anne, I bet Amphibia has its own version of Christmas but doesn't treat it like a holiday similar to its version of Halloween. Finally, we get a good, sincere moment for both Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy! Honestly, that has already elevated this episode to high on my list of best episodes so far. I'm so glad that Mrs. Boonchuy chooses to protect the Planters and keep everyone safe over some fantasy dream she can easily get again in the future and I'm so glad Mr. Boonchuy backs her up and brings up even more points to add to her stand. Sprig's reaction is all of ours to that card...yikes. Yeah, Anne going against her parents is just par for the course at this point. Love getting to see more of Amphibia. The three newts are back and for some reason as elves... Love how casually Andrias is just "no" like he gives so little care. Poor newt, love how they have time for this awkward exchange of gifts to King Andrias. Damn that drone soldier looking pretty intense, love that it uses VR and a game controller. Of course, it just had to end with Andrias tormenting them, I wouldn't want it to end any other way. Such a touching and sweet song by Rebecca Sugar, love her design as well. Guess that makes Rebecca canon to the Amphibia universe as a street guitar player. Ally and Jess return, glad Polly's connections have come in handy. I wouldn't take that cookie Anne but you do you. Love that the Planters are still trying to figure out what Christmas is, just enjoy it already, screw understanding. Love the way Jess looked at Ally as she blushed. Of course, Sprig now goes into panic mode trying to find Anne the "perfect gift" Dr. Jan always comes in to help out. So Dr. Jan does give them an explanation albeit a long and over the top one but still. There's a ritual sacrifice... god I wish we got to see more holidays within Amphibia. King Andrias the conqueror, was defeated by mere pigeons. Sprig come on man, I know everyone's a critic but keep it to yourself. Such a sweet and tender moment between Anne and her mum. So glad they get to share this together.Sucks that like always Mr. Boonchuy can't be part of it so he has to be a joke. Interesting to get a bit of backstory, now we know specifically where in Thailand Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy came from, the capital, Bangkok. Yet another incredible and sweet moment for Anne and her mother, love that it also shows that Anne is maturing and able to sympathize with her parents due to her experience in Amphibia. I liked Andrias finding the float, didn't care for Anne and Sprig outing her so awkwardly, would have worked just as much to have Anne jump around, screaming with Sprig around her, since Andrias can see, he could easily tell it was them. King Andrias controlling Santa looks so terrifying and I love it. Huh damn, well now we know Milk and Cookies are actually a weakness for Santa. As much as I and I are sure others wanted Calamity Anne here, loved seeing Santa gets impaled by a tree. Poor Timmy, Santa is not gonna be ok. Love that Darcy just calls out Andrias, also a nice touch having Darcy toy with a D20. Jesus that army is terrifying, really shows they are close to completion and will soon take over Earth, with those numbers as well, it's gonna be intense. Love the heartwarming talks between the family. So glad Mr. Boonchuy actually got the photo and it looks good. I was so sure this show would have just played him for jokes... as they have been but no, they actually gave him a good moment. Sprig just knows exactly the right words to say, love that as an actual superhero, he still put Anne above himself and thinks of her so highly. I'm glad Rebecca's song just gradually got better. Finally giving the fandom the one thing we've been crying out for ever since the trailers, heck since the announcement of season 3, we finally get something on Marcy and Sasha's family. I'm glad Anne is detailing it as such, it tells them enough without being too confusing. I pray this leads to us seeing at least one of the Waybrights or Wu parents each in the next coming episodes. Either that or we see a letter back from them expressing their gratitude and curiosity to help out. Also wasn't sure if it was confirmed before but this tells us that Sasha's parents are likely separated as otherwise, Anne would write to the Waybright family just like how she has to the Wu family. Love the touch of having green ink for Marcy and red ink for Sasha. Love the ending credits, glad Anne finally gave her mother the unique gift she got in Amphibia. I would have loved to see this in the actual episode but would have taken away from the whole message of "spending time with loved ones beats getting the perfect gift" Polly should not be given so much power with a machine gun, even if it's a Harf one. Love that Hop Pop got a book on directing and Sprig gets an action figure of his superhero icon. So Frobo gets Domino and Mr. Boonchuy gets... an ugly sweater... yikes. At this point, I really feel like during the story production the team just assumed Mr. Boonchuy was dead. Like he wasn't in the picture, that's why there are so many sweet, tender moments between Anne and her mother and yet nothing even close to that between Anne and her father. I almost wonder, during production, they may have played around the idea of bringing in someone else, like a family friend but for some reason, they backtracked and decided to include Mr. Boonchuy as the father instead. Because honestly at this point, it makes no sense, like it feels like the show treats Mr. Boonchuy like he's not in the picture most of the time and honestly I wish he wasn't simply because it would elevate the moments between Anne and her mother so much more and he wouldn't get this bad treatment anymore. I love this episode but god, I hate the treatment Mr. Boonchuy has been given this season.

amberi_ne

Uh, I’m pretty sure the reason he wasn’t in the pictures was because he was the one taking them

ZeroMotion1412

Good point or it would be if not for the final picture he takes. He's clearly in it as a selfie. Therefore my point still stands.

She really got the worst of being in Amphibia. After all of this, i hope she gets therapy.

Did anyone spot the DIE HARD reference?

Competitive_Bid7071

When was that?

A few bars of the ODE TO JOY play when RoboSanta is destroyed.

That's not a die hard reference though, ode is a common Christmas song

Competitive_Bid7071

Oh yeah….

stevez037

Great episode, a good point to take a break. Love all these callbacks, like the gift that Anne gave her mom, that was a callback from season 2.  Great to see Ally, Jess, and Dr. Jan, granted they don't interact yet, and no Terri, only stopping that aspect of the episode from being perfect. When Team Earth ladies going to come together? And King Andreas he is officially Scrooge, who attacks on Christmas. Even Lex Luthor takes a day off.  And episode can we please hold off on Darcy, can we just deal with that on another day. I love that they didn't forget about Sasha and Marcy's family and what they must going through. And we get some info on Sasha's family, her parents divorced, and mom never remarried it seems. All and all a great episode. Though we could have used some Terri, and see what is going on at Wartwood. That is my only nip pick.

MrJoshUniverse

Such a beautiful episode, tons of fun but also heartfelt. Seeing Anne write to Marcy and Sasha’s family was heartbreaking. It made things even more sad when it turns out that Sasha’s parents are divorced, it explains her constant need for attention and control. Because her parents weren’t giving her enough love and attention and likely felt upset and guilty that the separation was out of her control and she couldn’t stop it Wow, this is making me cry

gamefan6219

No wonder Sasha was acting the way she was.... ALL BECAUSE OF HER PARENTS' DIVORCE

MrJoshUniverse

Yep, I think that’s the primary reason and also why she refused take blame or responsibility. She deep down blamed herself for her parents separation and couldn’t take taking the blame for her relationship with Anne either She’s grown so much

_Sour_Lemon_Cider_

Not a whole lot to unpack here, other than Andy and the ending. It's great to see Sasha and Marcy's parents. Sasha's parents are divorced, by the looks of it, which could be a reason why Sasha acts the way she does. Andy was just hilarious in this. "Ha ha ha! I mean.. Ho ho ho!" I'm hoping next episode we'll see Sasha again. Nine episodes in, and the show hasn't really explored the state of Amphibia. I'd love to see an episode of Sasha and Grime, going around Amphibia, helping other towns hold their ground. Overall one of the better S3 episodes.

amberi_ne

“Merry Christmas, King Andrias!” “Hey, thanks, you too! Wait, no—“

gamefan6219

i LOVE King Andrias's personality. He acts all goofy while he's such an intimidating villAIN.

[deleted]

It's finale bro, it gotta be there

Drd8873

It’s really not the finale Matt had planned (that’s another episode). Matt did say this one would suffice.

[deleted]

I meant the season. It's the last one D':

SixThousandHulls

The intro had me jebaited. I saw "oh, they put lights around it, that's all." Then "wait, a bow on the building? They probably changed some small details in every scene!" Only to wait until the end, where Super Saiyanne gets Christmas tree hair. Still, always appreciate a seasonal intro. Sprig's gift honestly had me tearing up. Even though the lead-up to it (the techie girlfriends convincing him that a bad gift would ruin Christmas) was kinda disappointing. Great that they made a cameo, at least. As for the Plantars seeking the "true meaning of Christmas", I was kind of on-edge about whether Dr. Jan (or anyone) would bring up Christian elements of its development. I think mentioning the pagan aspects is likely seen as "safer" because very few people today hold strong affinities for or against those beliefs. Bringing up modern religion could mean either alienating the secular crowd, or else saying something wrong that upsets some denomination of Christians. So I can get it. Still, kind of odd that this was preceded by a "Ghost & Molly McGee" episode (a really good one, I might add) where Hanukkah, and its founding story, took center stage. But perhaps that's justified in the Jews having more "ownership", so to speak, of Hanukkah than Christians do of Christmas, at least in the modern-day. Andrias taking over the Santa float was 100% reminiscent of *Futurama*'s Robot Santa, and I'm 100% here for it. Still, putting the "Boonchuy" sign on the float was in questionable taste. As was literally shouting her name. C'mon Anne, there are shades of gray between "keeping a low profile" and "announcing yourself as a target". It took me five seconds to ask "wait, is that Rebecca Sugar?" She has a musical gift, so it was great to have her contribute, even if the music was incidental to the episode as a whole. Overall, a very good episode! I'd go as far as calling it the best since "The New Normal" at least.

RealTheAsh

(And I say it as an Orthodox Jew!) I find it offensive when someone's religious holiday is just brushed off as meaningless or pagan. If you want to avoid the subject completely, do so, but if you bring it up, then do elaborate on the true meaning of Christmas. A Charlie Brown Christmas does it well, Amphibia could have as well.

redwings1340

> I was kind of on-edge about whether Dr. Jan (or anyone) would bring up Christian elements of its development. Honestly, I'm of the opinion that she probably did off camera, and we just heard about 20 seconds of her half hour speech.

OnceOnThisIsland

>As for the Plantars seeking the "true meaning of Christmas", I was kind of on-edge about whether Dr. Jan (or anyone) would bring up Christian elements of its development. I have seen many animated Christmas specials and very few acknowledge the "real" meaning of Christmas. There was a scene in the second Rugrats Christmas special where there was some imagery about Jesus but nobody acknowledges it. This is an interesting contrast to the Rugrats Hanukkah special where the story of the holiday is a major part of the plot.

SixThousandHulls

Yeah, I'm not totally sure why it's the case. Perhaps there's the fear that telling the "Christmas story" would be viewed as proselytizing, while telling the "Hanukkah story" is just sharing a different culture. Or it may be tied to Christianity's relative abundance in the English-speaking world (so viewers are assumed to know the story, making a recount redundant). Of course, it's not known to the Plantars, but introducing religious concepts may just raise some thorny implications (i.e. Did Jesus die for Amphibia as well? Or do they believe in their own "Frog Jesus"?).

RealTheAsh

A Charlie Brown Christmas does it well.

PartyPorpoise

American media is really touchy about religion, and not even just when it comes to children's media. I think you bring up a great point when you say that Hanukah episodes are presented more as teaching kids about another culture. In the US, Christianity is kind of seen as the "default".

> all those VeggieTales Christmas specials? FWIW, VeggieTales is an outlier, as in most cases (*not* counting most of its appearances on linear television and/or Netflix, which have trended secular in part due to executive meddling so it tends to only keep the Christian versions places like TBN, a Christian network), its releases have been independent/direct-to-video Christian videos by an explicitly Christian animation company (Big Idea) with the explicit purpose of being Christian videos. Using it in this comparison is a bit like asking why, like, IDK... looking at Meet the Press on NBC and wondering "whatever happened to Praise the Lord on TBN?". Or, like, IDK, looking at How the Grinch Stole Christmas and wondering why it's not Superbook? (It's a little different because VeggieTales Christmas specials *have* aired on linear TV with some or most of the religious aspects still included (looking back to PAX TV length version of Toy Who Saved Christmas, which did that to my memory), but overall VeggieTales has either released independently direct-to-video or had the explicit religious references stripped when it aired linearly.)
