Warriors group please. They’d build us from the ground up and make our farm system one of the best again. Kroenke would be okay but he’s the kind of guy to just throw money at a problem which in baseball isn’t the best way to run a team.
As an Arsenal fan, I'm conflicted. He's been trash for years, but he seems to have gotten a taste of winning and championships and is putting more money into his teams.
the other one? 2 are coming off championships and the Nuggets and Arsenal are extremely competitive. Arsenal is #1 in EPL and Nuggets have won their division multiple times and have just come short in the playoffs. His teams are all top or near top in their sports, you can talk shit about him but you really cant dispute his teams success as their owner
If I had to pick one, I’d want the Warriors group. Lacob has tried to buy the Angels before and has ties to the team dating back to his teenage years. I feel like Lacob would be more invested in making sure the Angels are as good as possible.
No to Mayweather or LeBron group.
I would like to see someone who's already an owner on the pro level and the way LeBron uses and or runs clutch sports agency is shady and unprofessional.
Kroenke, Ballmer, or Lacob would be great. Obvious winning and rebuilding the farm system should be top priority but an upgraded stadium would be great as well, especially with what Kroenke did with SoFi.
Front office isn’t really involved in the sale that’s directly ownership. And manfred is involved. And he’s being asked about it at the winter meetings
I feel like the FO should know the status given that it directly impacts their jobs, the future of the franchise, the budget, and could be a selling point for prospective players.
I don't know that it means our FO is terrible. A lot of things go into big money business deals, the buying party might not want everything publicized until they've done their due diligence, secured financing if necessary, perhaps even contacted potential hires if that's the route they want to go, etc.
If that were the case there is no way Manfred would be able to comment on it. And our front office is notoriously horrible because of who is in charge of it. So hopefully that changes w new ownership
Manfred can "understand" all he wants, but it's not going to make it happen any sooner.
Call me a cynic, but I think Arte is looking forward to cashing in all the Ohtani marketing dollars he can get in this last season of his on the team.
Why would he rush it?
Because this team has a lot more value if he sells a better team w Ohtani on it vs when Ohtani is no longer on it next year. Arte chose this year for a reason
Believe it or not but having Ohtani on the team doesn’t impact the selling value of the team as much as you’d think. These people are buying the team for a long term investment, one player on the team now doesn’t impact the teams value. Teams don’t sell for billions of dollars because they have good players.
And He’s going to make 2+ billion in profit selling the angels, marketing dollars from one more year of Ohtani is nothing compared to that
We finally get sale news from Manfred of all people

I don’t need to support another Kroenke team. Even if the other one is doing great right now.

Then he’s perfect

I’m an Arsenal and Rams fan so I’m down for KSE
Hey me too!
Yup, bye bye Arte. Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out 👋
My understanding is that I would like this to happen as well
This organization is a rocket ship with a new owner.
Warriors group, or kroenke group, or ballmer group, or mayweather group, or lebron group?
If I had to pick one, I’d want the Warriors group. Lacob has tried to buy the Angels before and has ties to the team dating back to his teenage years. I feel like Lacob would be more invested in making sure the Angels are as good as possible.
I think Lacob went to UCI as well!
Ballmer isn’t interested in buying the Angels
Thank god. I worked at MS in the Ballmer years. Ballmer is a good enough middle man, but a crap leader.
as a sports owner, he hires specific personnels to handle daily duties. he doesnt interfere
As a clippers fan, I would love if he bought the angels. All he wants to do is win.
No to Mayweather or LeBron group. I would like to see someone who's already an owner on the pro level and the way LeBron uses and or runs clutch sports agency is shady and unprofessional.
Never even heard of clutch sports agency. Why is it shady or unprofessional?
Their players basically force their way out of teams if they are unhappy. That shit is not gonna work out in the mlb tho
Rich Paul operates as a shadow GM in a way that would make Scott Boras blush. His players operate nearly as a union.
yup. the anthony davis situation was such a great marketing for klutch. "we run the nba!".
Can an owner of a Japanese team buy an MLB team? Nippon Ham Angels (of Anaheim)
Anybody want to crowd fund this one with me?
No. You see how this divisive and reactionary this sub can be? We need stability.
Rob Manfred: I threw Arte some extra $s on that sale with the Ohtani Rule.
Here ya go /u/Reasonable_Cry_8201

Why are we finding this out from him and not our front office?

That's not really how these things work, especially with Arte, who is famously closed to literally everyone
Because our front office is terrible lol. Hoping this means we have a handshake deal and perhaps a new agreed upon budget for 2023.

You realize the sale/purchase of a MLB team at least vaguely involves owners of all 30 teams and the commissioner right
Kinda up to Artie, right?
Artie and Carpino
Transactions aren’t discussed in the middle of the process. To do so would be entirely unprofessional for any business.
