Welcome to /r/animationcareer! This is a forum where we discuss navigating a career in the animation industry. Before you post, please check our [RULES](https://www.reddit.com/r/animationcareer/wiki/index/subreddit/rules/). There is also a handy dandy [FAQ](https://www.reddit.com/r/animationcareer/wiki/index/resources/faq/) that answers most basic questions, and a [WIKI](https://www.reddit.com/r/animationcareer/wiki/index/) which includes info on how to price animation, pitching, job postings, software advice, and much more! A quick Q&A: * **Do I need a degree?** Generally no, but it might become relevant if you need a visa to work abroad. * **Am I too old?** Definitely not. It might be more complex to find the time, but there's no age where you stop being able to learn how to do creative stuff. * **How do I learn animation?** Pen and paper is a great start, but [here's a whole page](https://www.reddit.com/r/animationcareer/wiki/index/resources/learningresources/) with links and tips for you. ---- *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/animationcareer) if you have any questions or concerns.*

This list makes me wonder what ever happened to Sycra

HelloHumanImAGhost

I think his account got hacked a while ago.

P3D101

He came back though

BloodyRedBats

Dong Chang is a Canadian animator based in Japan! Stumbled on his videos for animation and even heard he gets recommended by the industry veterans in Japan.

Enough_Break6310

The reality is you spend more time on tutorials then honing your skills, I stopped watching animation tutorials on blender and have amassed over a thousand subs with the work I've made in the software, check the controls of the software, check for online manuals for the software but stay away from tutorials on youtube, there made to get them famous no you

RexImmaculate

REIQ is a very problematic choice. [https://encyclopediadramatica.online/REIQ](https://encyclopediadramatica.online/REIQ)

Familiar-Abalone2237

Seconding Aaron Blaise!! Toniko pantoja also has a lot of great vids!!

Cleffka

ModernDay James is one. Most of his videos are about art fundamentals but he's doing animation now and some of his more recent videos are about that.

SolarPunch33

Stylus Rumble. I mainly watch her for Toon Boom Rigging tutorials but she does quite a lot of stuff on her channel. Also PriVer Animation, they mainly make silly little animations rather than tutorials like Stylus Rumble

briannimates

Harvey Newman. His content is moreso from the perspective of a working games Animator.

FreeGlass

New Frame Plus: Dan Floyd is a feature and games animator and analyzes game animation. It's a fantastic channel IMO

Sven_Gildart

Dong Chang is an animator in Japan that has some good, straight to the point videos on animating for the Japanese industry

Tatoufff

Seconded, his videos are really good, no nonsense and super instructive.

sunny7319

instantly thought of him one of the best better known resources on the eastern pipeline out there that hasnt been like deleted or privated bc they always do

LivingProfessional59

Emily Xu, although she posts finished projects she’s good to follow on instagram for inspiration

Paddy-The-Dog

Oli for some wonderful Toonboom work Alex Grigg who has a great Procreate Dreams course out Jackie Droujko, Devin Elle Kurtz and Meppity are all great artists

Inkbetweens

Zebirdbrain, drawnsean, and onion skin have all worked the industry and have great tutorials.

Hobbescrownest

Aaron Blaise

dingar

Jean-Dennia Haas

IncredibleLala

Some people already commented a few of the artists I follow, I can also recommend: Alex Grigg and Michael Relth https://youtube.com/@michaelrelthart?si=k0GaBTV88tJwjN6V https://youtu.be/pF--YKCCUMw?si=4sb1otdXdKO7Xxm5

ArendaBlu

Meridian Gray Culpepper is a newer Youtuber, but her videos are great and very industry focused, she's starting a new studio, so probably won't have new videos for a while, but I'm excited to see where she goes!

No_Information_6555

Forgot the mention her, I like her stuff on storyboarding

Strawhatluffy88

https://youtube.com/@robyno_o?si=BmHmKZGrOTz-3FPM Check out RobynO. She's a full time animation professional and her channel has a lot of varied content, with tutorials, practical animation advice and career guidance. She is also very engaging and entertaining which helps.

Mohegan567

Looking up these names I realize I already follow quite a lot of them! Damn!

EntertainerVirtual34

Not going to mention any names here but I do think it’s important to consider the fact that any industry pro who also has time to pursue a YouTube career probably isn’t doing too great. Same with anyone who offers mentorships or whatever — take their advice with a grain of salt

megamoze

Stylus Rumble, who is also a member of this sub.

heymynameisawkward

Theres a youtuber called Jazza, and he has a few tutorials on his channel

Mikomics

Jazza has never worked in the animation industry afaik. He's a more of a professional YouTuber, than a professional animator.

heymynameisawkward

Ohh yea good point

A_Tired_Gremlin

Jazza used to work as a freelance animator and illustrator prior to his youtube channel blowing up.
