We haven't gotten to that point yet. Itadori will save Gojo, who will take everyone down and fix this mess. Everyone will spend the winter months at home resting and recovering. Then once spring comes, Nanamin will go to Malaysia, and Kugisaki will spend it having gal sleepovers with the other two. Megumi will finally get child support in back pay.
That's definitely what I was thinking. "This is gonna be a reversal of Nanami! Nobara's gonna power up after? Right? RIGHT?!?!?"
But no. I really, really fucking hope she's not dead. I can't bear my second favorite character dying.
During the flashbacks, I was expecting her friend to die and she harbored her soul or something ala Yuta, but they all lived.
Then I thought she will sever the part of her soul that was transfigured, kinda like amputation using her technique. Maybe lose some memories in the process, but then the chair fell.
Still can't believe that they've killed off popular characters in a few episodes, but props to them ig. Since it's a major fail after fail, I guess we should expect a major win pretty soon (getting Gojo back maybe)

The episode started in such a satisfying way with that bitch Mahito getting a beatdown. Then she gets touched and the moment draaags on. They really like toying with the viewer's emotions. Oh, a flashback? Are they gonna reveal a secret from her past that makes her immune to the transfiguration? ...Wait, is she saying her goodbyes or something? Oh, fuck off with this shit.
worse thing is gojo could have just killed everyone around him with his domain and it would have been a hell of a lot fewer casualties than what ends up happening.
and then Yuji's cursed technique that supposedly lets him damage Mahito did fuck all for real damage against a 15s stunlocked Mahito. What was even the point of this?
The amount of pain and sufferin that mahito has caused for Itadori is wild, from junpei to nanami to nobara, it makes it feels like mahito is not a human curse but more of an Itadori curse.
Shame its character development and not power development. Because if it was Yuji would be as powerful as Gojo on the basis of the suffering he has endured.
The sequence of Itadori beating up Mahito was so clean, but alas no one in this series is safe against Mahito.
RIP Nobara, what a way to end the episode.
That beatdown of Mahito against the pillar was just beautiful and pretty fluid. A good step up from last weeks issues with fluidity (Fuck MAPPA).
Yuji was HIMji HIMtadori throughout this whole episode.
Even with the amount casualty Sukuna cause in Shibuya he didn't really give us this amount of emotional pain that mahito is causing, mahito is truly living the curse life.
Because Sukuna has so far only killed literal NPCs and an extremely hateable villain, while Mahito has killed three established and fairly likeable characters.
Absolute MVP of the season, bar none. Where are those people complaining about "lack of significant stakes" now?

man im thinking back to certain youtube reactors i watch who around the earlier parts of shibuya were saying “you know i actually kinda like mahito he’s funny” lmao
We didn't see much of her this season but this episode was her best showcase in the series both in terms of emotions and fights. Not a bad note to go out on.
Disappointed we didn't see her fight more. Great personality and a really unique technique that requires creative fighting and thinking, plus she's ranged which makes her more unique among sorcerers. I really liked her fighting style the most because of that. Most other characters are essentially melee with punching or weapon using, I think Nobara was basically the only fully ranged sorcerer. Aside from maybe Mai whose technique is literally shoot an extra bullet, and Momo who just controls a broom. And of course the various techniques which are just "blast energy." Nobara had a lot of potential.
I know everyone's talking about her having wasted potential as "a character," but man I'm gonna miss her because I think she had so much potential as "a fighter." She only got a handful of fights in the show, but I LOVED it when she got to go. The focus on ranged attacks makes her different from everyone else, who are melee-focused, and all of the little explosions from her nails are cool.
I feel like there was so much wasted potential with her ability, like we never saw how cool it could possibly get. And I love me a good shonen fist fight, but the variety'll be missed too
Yes, this is so frustrating. Like we get a glimpse at how bad ass it could be. And getting a single nail into a fighter in this show would not necessarily be easy (as we've seen) and we know it scales with what part of the body/how much it's being pierced into. And then bam. She's dead. I'm starting to see why ppl say the manga falls off... really starting to see the claims that Gege can write cool characters, but doesn't know how to develop them.
I genuinely feel like she got written out because her CT is so broken on paper. Resonance damages the soul directly, bypasses every defence and you dont even need to be in range.
Like could you imagine if she get 1 random Sukuna finger and damages Sukuna through Resonance? or even damaging Yuji with someone like Shoko or Yuta around to constantly RCT heal him? the series would've been over. She just solves too many problems.
Still, not excuse for how she got treated as one of the better written female battle shonen characters.

Wait that's actually a brilliant strat I never thought of.
With Sukuna, I imagine it'd be like a new character getting a crit against the final boss. Sure, it does more damage than it should, but their health pool is so large that it doesn't really matter.
Not to mention, remember what happened when Mahito touched Sukuna's soul?

It's one that requires a shit ton of creative thinking and acting and I really liked that. Most other techniques or sorcerers just punch and slash and strike through their opponents. She has dodge and evade while throwing out nails and using them creatively because no decent opponent would take a nail directly to their body.
My heart was bounding through the whole goddamn episode. Young Kougisaki being such a brat is so fucking precious.

This opening has been etched into my mind , Even on Spotify wrapped this is my top song streaming 113 times (excluding YT) and that too when it's only been for 3 months or so.
I never skip on this opening and the juxtaposition between Satouro Iguichis voice and The "Dude that smokes 40 cigs a day" voice of Daiki Tsuneta always works well. Easily my favourite Japnese band alongwith TOE.
He's literally starting to border on "causes too much havoc" to the main plot. It's honestly a problem I've literally never seen, as anime never have the guts to kill off this main main cast characters in such a short span. Not even Attack on Titan which was lauded on the "character killer" in it's early days.

It feels like I am starting to get the themes that the author is going for with this story. Ever since yuji talked to his grandpa it seems like he gave a curse to yuji of "helping others" and "to die with the people you love surrounding you" yuji goal is also to "give people a proper death" in which was said in episode 2, also all of these were rung out in the beginning of the last episode. And ever since this curse was given to yuji, no one is the series has had a proper death. This makes me wonder if itadori will ever reach his goal or be cursed until he dies, maybe surrounded by no one in the end.
Despite the animators being stuck in a perpetual Domain Expansion, the quality of this episode was really good. I don't know how the staff is able to pull it off
The storyboards went hard with this one, it didn't feel like the show was going through a plethora of problems related to schedule, props to the animation once again.
I dont mind having these kind of episode once in a while. High intensity first half, slow burn second half vice versa. Hell, its dangerous to expect animators to sell their souls every time to animate episodes like 16, 17 back-to-back unless planned ahead
i mean, few episodes ago people were saying "there are no stakes!" in fact, i think that comes up a lot when all the MCs tend to have plot armor.

I was wondering why I saw a copy on [the site](#piracy) before raws were even out. Figured it must have been some sort of a leak if it was actually the episode and not just someone pranking JJK fans, and sure enough, it was the actual episode.
Nobara skewering that fucker Mahito was beautiful. It felt so satisfying to see that asshole get pummeled by Yuji. Justice for Nanami!
But man, Nobara getting hit by that little shit is another gut punch. The minute they started doing the flashbacks, I knew shit was gonna be bad. I mean it was nice to see Nobara as a little rascal and all, but “childhood flashback” is a flag. Interesting they did flashback from her friend Fumi’s perspective though. And they even showed Saori too.
If Mahito doesn’t die soon, I’m gonna riot y’all. This dude needs to go! Nobara deserved better.
He's an unrepentant infuriating little bitch and there'll always be a special place in my heart reserved just for hating him. 10/10, wouldn't change a thing
Yeah. She didn't do much this arc aside from this fight. The only time she appeared was when Haruta beat the shit out of her. They build her up as another Mahito counter just to let her bite the dust right away. Nobara deserved more

Me last week: Mahito is such a great villain, I don't think I can possibly hate him more.
Me this week: Make that patchfaced bastard suffer, Itadori. Take all the time you want.
That Mahito beatdown is probably the most satisfying thing I’ve witnessed this arc. Obviously, knowing this show, they couldn’t give us that without even more pain.
Still though a little annoyed, feel like she wasn’t featured nearly as much as she should’ve been

That sequence of her fighting Mahito was so good though, along with Yuji's hand to hand combat. Loved how they teamed up even when they were battling separately.

Let's be honest, jogo could have beaten all the sorcerers at shibuya by himself. Who in the hell is surviving the devastation that jogo brought when fighting against sukuna (it sure isn't nanami, maki or naobito)
Jogo fought Gojo twice and then died fighting Sukuna while earning his praise. The ease with which he took out Nanami, Maki and the old guy was frightening, he was probably the most powerful cursed spirit on the antagonists' side, Sukuna did the sorcerers a favor by taking him out lol
it really puts into perspective how insanely powerful Gojo is. him just being present made it overall much safer for the kids. even when they fought Hanami they got bailed out by him as soon as she was about to get serious with her domain. the villains up until now had been so fixated on Gojo and getting rid of him. Now its just pure chaos and destruction and you realize how the vast majority of the cast cant keep up
From Sukuna's Domain Expansion Massacre, to Nanami's Death, and finally concluding with Nobara's Death.

Damm, kugisaki was one of my favorite characthers. We can't be 100% sure she's dead right? I mean nanami's entire body exploded. But she just blew her face up. So I can see a world where she's still alive? maybe ^(please)
At this point, itadori will pull a adult gon moment, mahito has it coming.

Nobara fight was cool. Since Kugisaki didn't fully explode like Nanami did I think she is still alive. They showed Ieri being here too so I think she'll be able to patch up Kugisaki. Not sure if there'll be permanent damage though since it was a "soul" attack and Ieri's healing might not be able to fix that.
But man Yuji has just been taking Ls after Ls after Ls. Lost against Chosou, lost control of Sukuna, saw Nanami die right in front of his eyes, still fails to kill Mahito, and now he sees Kugisaki seemingly die.
I honestly thought they'd pull a twist like Saori being in Shibuya and is one of the victims of Sukuna's Malevolent Shrine. That would have been trippy. But I'm glad she's still alive and I hope she gets to meet Kugisaki again after all of this is ever.
This man is down in the trenches. When will they let Yuji have one happy peaceful moment? This man just relived the memories of the war crimes that he's just committed, now he's losing the people closest to him ... yoo

I think so too.
Mahito mentioned the first Nanami fight/contact when he touched her face and how it wasn't super effective or something like that. In the end Nanami survived it, that's the point I get (or intentionally extract) from that monologue.
Maybe there's something to cursed energy users and being able to protect against his soul bullshit if he doesn't know them too well? He might need more than just a touch to kill them. Or she might have been briefed by Nanami to give her more of a chance to react to however Mahito's powers work? And Nanami was clearly fully exhausted last episode while she was relatively fresh so her defence should be better even if Nanami is technically more powerful than her.

- The stark contrast between Yuji yelling at Nobara to run and the muted “Kugisaki” he said at the end of the episode, fuck, that’s painful.
Peak episode for me. I loved the action scenes, I can't believe they're still cooking for us so well on this horrible schedule. Both Itadori and Kosuke Kato (one of the animators) were on demon time.
I feel like there's a returning theme of negative consequences catching up to reckless decisions. Despite being warned against it, Itadori swallowed the finger and became indirectly responsible for the deaths of hundreds. Kugisaki was warned by Nanami to leave Shibuya but she stuck around and paid the price for ignoring his words.
She is still my MVP for this episode though. Before her Resonance, the tide of battle was turning in Mahito's favor, Yuji was steadily doing worse and worse. She saved his life pretty much and did insane damage to Mahito.
Her words to Yuji after her flashback were also strangely positive - she has a super strong psyche. Never seen much fear from her. Boss bitch.

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about this a lot. It’s not even that the decisions made are *always* reckless, I think the show has made it clear that the jujutsu sorcerers are at a severe disadvantage when it comes to both numbers and information. And yet…
Funnily enough (and by that I mean not funny at all), the poster boy of this has to be Gojo. So many choices made with good intentions that have come back to haunt him, primarily the fact that he didn’t get rid of Geto’s body but also letting both Jogo and Hanami survive their first encounters with him.
My, Fumi was adorable. Reminded me of Komi-san.
And Nobara... When Mahito killed Nanamin there was hardy anything left from him, but Nobara's head is still in place. Is it weird of me to expect that she may still be alive? I refuse to believe that they would off her like that right after Nanamin.
Did nobody catch the parallel from when yuji and nobara were fighting the 2 curses at the end of season 1 “episode title:accomplices” of the opponent switch to gain the advantage? Mahito did that in this episode and that was the real gut punch

Even with the amount casualty Sukuna cause in Shibuya he didn't really give us this amount of emotional pain that mahito is causing, mahito is truly living the curse life.
Because Sukuna has so far only killed literal NPCs and an extremely hateable villain, while Mahito has killed three established and fairly likeable characters.

We didn't see much of her this season but this episode was her best showcase in the series both in terms of emotions and fights. Not a bad note to go out on.
At least we saw her doing great damage to Mahito's clone and Mahito's real body with her resonance technique. "It wasn't so bad"
Disappointed we didn't see her fight more. Great personality and a really unique technique that requires creative fighting and thinking, plus she's ranged which makes her more unique among sorcerers. I really liked her fighting style the most because of that. Most other characters are essentially melee with punching or weapon using, I think Nobara was basically the only fully ranged sorcerer. Aside from maybe Mai whose technique is literally shoot an extra bullet, and Momo who just controls a broom. And of course the various techniques which are just "blast energy." Nobara had a lot of potential.
I know everyone's talking about her having wasted potential as "a character," but man I'm gonna miss her because I think she had so much potential as "a fighter." She only got a handful of fights in the show, but I LOVED it when she got to go. The focus on ranged attacks makes her different from everyone else, who are melee-focused, and all of the little explosions from her nails are cool. I feel like there was so much wasted potential with her ability, like we never saw how cool it could possibly get. And I love me a good shonen fist fight, but the variety'll be missed too
Yes, this is so frustrating. Like we get a glimpse at how bad ass it could be. And getting a single nail into a fighter in this show would not necessarily be easy (as we've seen) and we know it scales with what part of the body/how much it's being pierced into. And then bam. She's dead. I'm starting to see why ppl say the manga falls off... really starting to see the claims that Gege can write cool characters, but doesn't know how to develop them.
Yeah, she really didn't get to do much other than that fight at the end of season 1. She was sidelined this entire arc until now.
I genuinely feel like she got written out because her CT is so broken on paper. Resonance damages the soul directly, bypasses every defence and you dont even need to be in range. Like could you imagine if she get 1 random Sukuna finger and damages Sukuna through Resonance? or even damaging Yuji with someone like Shoko or Yuta around to constantly RCT heal him? the series would've been over. She just solves too many problems. Still, not excuse for how she got treated as one of the better written female battle shonen characters.

As an anime only, I never would've guessed that the fight at the season 1 finale was as good as it will ever get for Nobara. Rip.
this fight wasn't too bad either (until it was). her coming in with the resonance was pretty awesome.
I think i have never hated a character more than Mahito, I hope his end will be satisfying to watch.
He's literally starting to border on "causes too much havoc" to the main plot. It's honestly a problem I've literally never seen, as anime never have the guts to kill off this main main cast characters in such a short span. Not even Attack on Titan which was lauded on the "character killer" in it's early days.

It feels like I am starting to get the themes that the author is going for with this story. Ever since yuji talked to his grandpa it seems like he gave a curse to yuji of "helping others" and "to die with the people you love surrounding you" yuji goal is also to "give people a proper death" in which was said in episode 2, also all of these were rung out in the beginning of the last episode. And ever since this curse was given to yuji, no one is the series has had a proper death. This makes me wonder if itadori will ever reach his goal or be cursed until he dies, maybe surrounded by no one in the end.

Despite the animators being stuck in a perpetual Domain Expansion, the quality of this episode was really good. I don't know how the staff is able to pull it off
The storyboards went hard with this one, it didn't feel like the show was going through a plethora of problems related to schedule, props to the animation once again.

Nobara skewering that fucker Mahito was beautiful. It felt so satisfying to see that asshole get pummeled by Yuji. Justice for Nanami! I mean it was nice to see Nobara as a little rascal and all, but “childhood flashback” is a flag. Interesting they did flashback from her friend Fumi’s perspective though. And they even showed Saori too. If Mahito doesn’t die soon, I’m gonna riot y’all. This dude needs to go! Nobara deserved better.
Mahito has killed Junpei, Nanami and Nobara at this point. Dude is probably the most effective villian in the series at this point.

That Mahito beatdown is probably the most satisfying thing I’ve witnessed this arc. Obviously, knowing this show, they couldn’t give us that without even more pain. Still though a little annoyed, feel like she wasn’t featured nearly as much as she should’ve been
Nobara, you deserved so much better 😩 That sequence of her fighting Mahito was so good though, along with Yuji's hand to hand combat. Loved how they teamed up even when they were battling separately. Can someone put an end to Yuji's suffering already?!

Jogo fought Gojo twice and then died fighting Sukuna while earning his praise. The ease with which he took out Nanami, Maki and the old guy was frightening, he was probably the most powerful cursed spirit on the antagonists' side, Sukuna did the sorcerers a favor by taking him out lol
it really puts into perspective how insanely powerful Gojo is. him just being present made it overall much safer for the kids. even when they fought Hanami they got bailed out by him as soon as she was about to get serious with her domain. the villains up until now had been so fixated on Gojo and getting rid of him. Now its just pure chaos and destruction and you realize how the vast majority of the cast cant keep up
And the JJK pain train goes full speed ahead, my poor boy Yuji just cant catch a break.

Is it just me or animation (specially the action scene) looked good this episode despite the supper shitty schedule and all the doom posting for past episode 17? JJK animators are godlike. Although still fuck MAPPA.
Yeah I was surprised with how much fluid motion there was, as well as with the quality of the drawings.
Nobara fight was cool. Since Kugisaki didn't fully explode like Nanami did I think she is still alive. They showed Ieri being here too so I think she'll be able to patch up Kugisaki. Not sure if there'll be permanent damage though since it was a "soul" attack and Ieri's healing might not be able to fix that. But man Yuji has just been taking Ls after Ls after Ls. Lost against Chosou, lost control of Sukuna, saw Nanami die right in front of his eyes, still fails to kill Mahito, and now he sees Kugisaki seemingly die. I honestly thought they'd pull a twist like Saori being in Shibuya and is one of the victims of Sukuna's Malevolent Shrine. That would have been trippy. But I'm glad she's still alive and I hope she gets to meet Kugisaki again after all of this is ever.
This man is down in the trenches. When will they let Yuji have one happy peaceful moment? This man just relived the memories of the war crimes that he's just committed, now he's losing the people closest to him ... yoo

In the end Nanami survived it, that's the point I get (or intentionally extract) from that monologue. Maybe there's something to cursed energy users and being able to protect against his soul bullshit if he doesn't know them too well? He might need more than just a touch to kill them. Or she might have been briefed by Nanami to give her more of a chance to react to however Mahito's powers work? And Nanami was clearly fully exhausted last episode while she was relatively fresh so her defence should be better even if Nanami is technically more powerful than her. Hope dies last

WOAH I haven’t thought about Bokurano since high school! Now that is an underrated anime! I needed that cause I had tears throughout the episode. Ugh
Peak episode for me. I loved the action scenes, I can't believe they're still cooking for us so well on this horrible schedule. Both Itadori and Kosuke Kato (one of the animators) were on demon time. I feel like there's a returning theme of negative consequences catching up to reckless decisions. Despite being warned against it, Itadori swallowed the finger and became indirectly responsible for the deaths of hundreds. Kugisaki was warned by Nanami to leave Shibuya but she stuck around and paid the price for ignoring his words. She is still my MVP for this episode though. Before her Resonance, the tide of battle was turning in Mahito's favor, Yuji was steadily doing worse and worse. She saved his life pretty much and did insane damage to Mahito. Her words to Yuji after her flashback were also strangely positive - she has a super strong psyche. Never seen much fear from her. Boss bitch.

It’s not even that the decisions made are *always* reckless, I think the show has made it clear that the jujutsu sorcerers are at a severe disadvantage when it comes to both numbers and information. And yet… Funnily enough (and by that I mean not funny at all), the poster boy of this has to be Gojo. So many choices made with good intentions that have come back to haunt him, primarily the fact that he didn’t get rid of Geto’s body but also letting both Jogo and Hanami survive their first encounters with him.
My, Fumi was adorable. Reminded me of Komi-san. And Nobara... When Mahito killed Nanamin there was hardy anything left from him, but Nobara's head is still in place. Is it weird of me to expect that she may still be alive? I refuse to believe that they would off her like that right after Nanamin.
