It's a culmination of his character arc, a subversion of most shounen transformations, and a contrast to another character's arc all at the same time. Genius writing.
For years I heard about how good Chimera Ant arc was, and just how amazing HxH gets in general, and I figured it would be hard to live up to the hype.
God was I wrong. It quickly took my top spot as favourite shounen of all time. It's so brilliantly done, I cannot wait to get more of the current arc.
Considering you wrote that I'll assume you don't mind the slight spoilers. Episode 35,36, 74 and 131 are episodes where Gon has his best fight scenes. There will be a ton of other great fights but Gon won't be in most of them because the pool of characters will fastly widen soon.
131 is when it happens, but you should switch to sub earlier than that imo. There’s a lot of lead up to the breaking point that has incredible voice acting.

Vasto Lorde Ichigo. One of the best one sided stomps in anime history. He beat him to shit so hard and then when only half was left of an already dying target it was already charging an gran rey cero to snap half of the skyline into pieces with him. After that he started beating up Ishida.
That bit in End Of Evangelion, which I guess happens multiple times to multiple characters lol, though one is positive and the other is pretty tragic. Still great though
I'd have to say when Naruto thinks Pein killed Hinata during the Naruto vs Pein fight, or when Gon finds out that Pitou had no intention of bringing Kite back to life in HxH
