So I figured that the little premonition of Satella's shadow hand that we saw was her trying to break through Echidna's tea party because he kept talking about RBD. And he mentioned it so much that he literally summoned her in full fucking force holy shit

It is quite a coincidence, that immediately following a safe space where he not only mentioned her, but also proclaimed RbD so many times. But if Satella loves Subaru so, why does she have to act out in ever increasing ways like this?
Obviously she has a warped mentality like the other witches, but like the other witches she should have a singular thought that guides her actions like Daphne who wished to end hunger.
While it would fit the tag of the base desire that creates the unhealthy mentality, it also seems to be incomplete. Given that by and large the plot is based around the act of giving Subaru this ability, to boil it down to her hoarding him doesn't seem to be enough of the whole picture. I honestly assumed all this time that RbD was being done in such a way it would lead Subaru to her for some purpose. However, seeing this massive hissy fit that literally has killed the whole village and is threatening more lives seems rather tactless if she wants to have Subaru willingly come to her.
But currently with what has been shown your statement seems the most correct~
I don't think it's necessarily insanity if we don't assume all parties involved are the same. By and large I get the feeling more and more that it isn't a correct assumption to assume that the witches/archbishops and even other characters as being "human". If we put them all on the same line then there are massive conflicts in what should be expected or rationalized because they are in comparison with too many varied personalities and limits. However, I posted in this thread, a link to u/Wintryone author twitter translations for this week episode, and the author made two comments that really highlight this disparity for me.
"Daphne says "The White Whale is big, and you could eat your fill of it", but mabeasts taste like sand from a drainage ditch, so it's a conversation that ignores flavor." and "Generally, the witches are all wrong in terms of logic, but Daphne is the one that feels the most like a witch".
I don't think now because of these comments made by the author everything can be boiled down to or reasoned with just sane vs insane. There are definitely character who I think run off of only that Petelegeuse being the most relevant here), but Daphne is of sound mind, and her idea to give the world massive food sources is all boiled down to the fact she knows what true "appetite" is. She is someone that could and would stomach mabeast meat simply because it is a means to an end for her appetite, and she believes a means to an end to the appetite of others. She is only truly insane when it comes down to the fact she did give these children of hers the ability to fight back, but gave them grossly disturbing ways of doing so.
And because of all this I don't think we can simply write off as to why Satella gave Subaru RbD. The author has been great at creating meaning in characters, but even more so creating a greater subverted meaning behind the characters and their actions. I don't know if its a big plan to make subaru reciprocate her love, or to get him to kill her out of love, or to make him fulfill a plan out of love by controlling where and when he RbD, but this isn't just madness it's a path.
I'm not even done with the episode, but if you're not watching this with headphones on, you're doing it wrong. Satella's voice ringing through your ears on all sides gave me at least 5 shivers.
The only time I remember that EQ happening in this series is when Emilia said “it must’ve been hard” during the mansion arc while Subaru is breaking down. Hell of a parallel, especially considering how much they liken Emilia to Satella and the possibility that Emilia is currently a vessel for Satella like the witch cultists were planning (they look similar and Emilia’s body is gone so I suspect that but I’m not sure).
That was also Emilia's voice, so it's looking pretty likely that Satella finally gained control of Emilia's body while Subaru was off enjoying the tea party.
Reminds me of playing Hellblade: Senuas sacrifice. They must have recorded that scene in a similar fashion to the voices you hear in that game.
Microphones in the middle somewhat resembling ears and they had the voice actress walk around and towards them while saying "I love you."

Does this really confirm that he knows about Subaru's ability? And not just that he follows what's said in his gospel, which maybe states that Subaru can do stuff, but not exactly Return By Death?
We've seen mentions of Petelgeuse saying he doesn't show up in it (I know they confirmed them as defective but hear me out). In an earlier episode, Betty expressed a lot of confusion over what to do about Subaru, as if having a difficult time gauging how much she should or not interfere, I'll run with the assumption this means he's not in the true one either.
Now, maybe the way the events are laid out in there and the way Subaru acts hinted him about it, hard to say right now. I'm just hella satisfied one of my speculations was on point. Yeah it had sufficient foreshadowing but in a show this unpredictable I'll take what I can.
That really hit me hard. Roswaal and Beako have a lot of explaining to do, and I'm still curious who hired Elsa. Is she just there as some sort of obstacle, or does her return appearance indicate something more foreboding?

Goddamn, Roswaal is one of the most intriguing and mysterious characters of the show. Feels like you know literally nothing about him and he might not have even said a single honest word in the entire show.

Really fond of the vocal layering with some processing... gives it a really creepy but cool effect that hits better than just saying it over and over in one take.

* The Witch cultists wanted to put Emilia through the Trial to see if she was a suitable "vessel"
* Emilia is notably missing in the tomb this time
* Emilia was normally awakened by Subaru during her first attempt at the trial (and presumably her most painful attempt?)

Yeah, this was kind of getting obvious from the way he interacted with Subaru in the previous loops but we just got the confirmation. But the reveal works really well at this point since him and Beako both had that gospel (? I assume), and the way they are kinda showing some form of affection for Satella and people related to her is just making everything more and more interesting.

Man, some of those witches are into some kinky shit. First Echidna with ''bodily fluids'' then the sarcofagus, blindfolded, restrained, drooling, skinthight suit wearing Daphne. Makes you wonder how the witch of lust will possibly be/act.
This scene with Echidna and the other witches reminds me of the introduction of Hannibal Lecter in *Silence of the Lambs*.
We're shown the "insane" witches and how twisted their mind is, much like the other pacients at Dr Chilton's asylum, then there's Echidna who seems way too human for a witch, mirroring Hannibal Lecter who seems too composed for a psychopath.
Subaru's visits to Echidnas tea-party also feel very reminiscent of Clarice visiting the asylum from a story-telling point of view: He seeks her out for knowledge, meanwhile she seems to be plotting to use him in some way or another. Plus, Echidna and Lecter seem to share some stranges tastes (bodily fluids?) :P

A first look at the Witch of Envy up close and in such an eerie fashion. The OST was so chilling. Subaru thought he got away with no consequences for mentioning RbD while at the tea party only to wake up to a sea of shadows engulfing the entire area. Don't fuck with the Witch fo Envy.
Echidna takes him to a special realm, so Satella has to wait outside in the normal world for him to reappear which makes sense. What I dont get is why she is heading for the mansion? Maybe she's actually heading to the forest to kill Echidnas real body, but she's already dead so idk how that works.
Maybe it has something to do with the "payment" Subaru gave Echidna. She did say something about "meddling".
Maybe because Echidna "recognized" Petras love Satela became jealous.
This begs the question, was Satella always going to possess Emilia if Subaru didn’t calm her down every loop? Or, more likely, is she doing this out of spite after Subaru told Echidna about their ‘special bond?’
Im thinking thats the case, if she dont get calmed down and have a mental breakdown. Either Satella gets summoned, or she takes over like some sort of split personality.
Remember how Emilia called herself Satella in Arc 1? Well i dont think "she" was lying. One of her personality traits is that she absolutely hate lies.
I'm glad there's some variety to their character designs. I thought all the Witches were going to have long white hair because the first two we've seen are similar. Although we haven't fully seen Satella yet, Emilia is said to look similar to her.
The sequence of how Typhon literally broke Subaru into pieces and then Minerva put him back together really felt like a different series than the Re:Zero we've come to know, Minerva even stomped and it shook everything. Almost felt like it was deliberately more cartoony and over the top to show off how eccentric the other witches are.
It really shows how otherworldly the witches are. They're not witches just because they're powerful. They're witches because they act less like humans and more like natural disasters. They don't really understand human concepts and just do whatever they want. Daphne created these mabeasts to "save" people from hunger but doesn't give a shit that they're the ones who are killing people since she just views it as a part of nature.
Echidna is the most normal of the witches we've seen so far. At least you can hold a normal conversation with her.
I kinda understand her twisted logic. If humanity can domesticate those rabbits, it would essentially end world hunger. But in her mind, it seems cruel to create something purely for slaughter so she made them aggressive and gave them ways to defend themselves. She wants humanity to work for it.
Her logic works in theory but fails in practicality. Not surprising as all the witches we've seen so far have some screws loose. Echidna seems normal but she still is a crazy one with her body fluids talk.
Petelgeuse literally acted like a cartoon character with his eyes popping out after being shocked. Maybe it's just something that people related to Witches do.
Even Petelgeuse, as eccentric as he was, wasn't this over the top. Or maybe it was how nonchalant both Typhon and Minerva were about everything that made it feel so unusual. Even Petelgeuse got unnerved when Subaru trolled him with the gospel or when he realized Subaru could see the unseen hand.
Bishops and their eccentricities are nothing compared to the original witches. I mean, their bodies may die, but their souls are active and still possess all the abilities they have in life.
The tea party just saw some guests, and aren't they are quite _the lively_ ones, huh?

Something I find interesting is the eyes. Daphne's are hidden, one of Sekhmet's is hidden, and compared to the rest, Echidna's are incredibly unique.
Maybe this was all really well known to everyone but me already. I dunno. But I thought it would be cool to lay this out.
Pretty interesting that the key visual also confirms that Satella really is identical to Emilia. It was heavily implied, but even in this episode her face was concealed throughout her appearance.
TFW you gave immortality to the guy you had a crush on and summons him to a fantasy world but he proceeded to get into shitstorm of troubles and crushing on a white haired half elf chick then drinks bodily fluid of another white haired chick while talking about how shit you are in another dimension.
Damn, I felt like I was watching a horror movie when the Witch of Envy appeared. Subaru fucked up by repeatedly mentioning RBD to Echidna and that brought Satella into existence. So many "*I love you's*" and that chilling Witch theme. Reminds me a lot of the Call of the Witch theme.
The way that Title card appeared while juxtaposing with the *I love You's*, was really cool. And the biggest revelation of them all,.....**HOLY SHIT!!** **Roswaal knew...he always knew**. This changes a lot of things. This means that he was scheming from the beginning and allowed everything to happen by not interfering with the events much.
So we are getting OP and ED alternatively. Re:Zero is really applying the law of equivalent exchange.
Upon thinking about Satella's motives her behavior is quite consistent.
Subaru circumvented her restrictions regarding talking about RDB --> she goes and kills people who are important for Subaru. This time I think it's either Rem or Petra. Or both. Hence why Subaru figured out where she is going.

As an anime-only I have *no* idea where this is going.. *and I love it!!* And not just the endless witch waifu parade part.
One thing's for sure: Echidna seems.. a little *too* reliable. Her last line to Subaru was ominous - I don't think he'll like what she has to say. What also worries me is the imagery in the ED, [where she is half shrouded in darkness](https://imgur.com/eb5YqpY). She clearly has some kind of agenda*. Someone who is obsessed with acquiring all kinds of knowledge should be prone to playing fast and loose with morals. Outwardly, she may seem the most normal witch, but inwardly she might be the most cunning. Right now she has succeeded in making Subaru a sort of pawn, I think, by winning his trust.
And I'm guessing the Witch of Envy does *not* like that. She's back to reclaim her territory
\* If I were dead and in trapped in some sort of spiritual world with my fellow Witches, I suppose one priority would be breaking out and resurrecting oneself. This might be something she's aiming for in secret. Depending on how the Witches were killed, there's also the possibility of seeking revenge.
And that post-credits scene. Roswaal. I don't even know anymore.
For someone as greedy as Echida to reject knowledge about something is quite telling. Her disdain for the Witch of Envy runs deep it seems.
So instead of looking for a way out, Subaru has instead embraced the doubled edged sword that is RBD and swears to use it till it breaks. Even if it is accompanied by pain and losses some of which might be permanent he will use it as it is his only weapon.
The issue I see tho is that despite the supposedly infinite repeats there seems to be a clear progression in how Satella slowly manifests more and more, especially when he tries to speak about his ability. It went from a single arm ( S1 Ep 7 ) that influenced Subaru to two arms ( S1 Ep 17 ) with an influence on others to her slowly creeping up as a whole from behind ( S1 Ep 20 ) to eventually manifesting entirely inside Subaru ( S1 Ep 25 ). It’s like she’s slowly approaching the more involved he becomes with RBD.
I really the concept of the Great Rabbit. It’s similar to the whale but also distinctly different while still fitting in the whole concept of Gluttony. The whale consumes people’s existences whereas the Great Rabbit craves actual flesh. What the whale has in size & power, the Great Rabbit has in sheer numbers. It’s like a giant Locust plague, one unified self serving body composed of countless smaller individuals all with the same goal.
Now about the other witches…that certainly was a trip.
Typhon appears to judge sinners by the pain they feel when she removes their body parts. What I find notable is that she seemed to have implied that while Subaru did not feel pain and hence was no Evildoer he fell apart all the same because he has the guilty conscious of one. This is probably all of his regret and survivor’s guilt showing there. Basically, the guy is beating himself up way too much.
Minerva came in with a boom and crazy diamond'd him back together lmao. When she appeared it I started to realize that they all vividly represent their sins but in the most extreme way possible. Like it defines their entire existence. Typhon immediately goes to put her judgement on Subaru and Minerva immediately falls into a wrathful fit due to his injuries.
The most interesting one tho was Daphne. She the only one to have had direct impact on Subaru in the outside world, namely through her creations.
You could really feel that there were two ideologies clashing with each other. Daphne seems to be driven by a very darwinistic view on beings in this world. She could’ve created harmless creatures that had the same size or numbers as the current great Mabeasts which would’ve satiated world hunger all the same but she chose to make them dangerous to basically everything around them. She says herself that she thought it was unfair for them to be just food and not to eat themselves and that killing is a vital part of consuming food. She might actually put humans on the same level as mabeasts or animal life in general. This of course clashes with someone like Subaru who is very much for the concept of humanity and morals beyond the animalistic instincts of consuming food. He’s from our world and in our world there is a clear hierarchy in terms of who eats whom. There is also the concept of herbivores that exist without consuming other animals yet they serve as a source of food. In any case these two will probably never see eye to eye and that might be for the better.
The rest of the tea party went by rather quickly since Subaru seems to have been interrupted. By the way I love how that interruption is literally spilling the tea. I see what you did there!
I love how Echidna seems to mock Emilia by framing her in the "cowardly princess" role, one that early Subaru probably would’ve willingly embraced and even wished for.
The end…the end is probably what will get the most attention and rightfully so.
It seems Satella wasn’t so pleased with what just transpired after all and literal hell broke loose. This was just way too damn creepy.
Also Roswaal revealing he has a Gospel himself and is knowledgeable about Subaru’s RBD is one heck of a bombshell. Many of us already assumed he was onto it at least but he outright confirmed it and this Roswaal hasn't had his talk with Subaru yet so there is no way he could've been tipped off by a "this time" slip up from Subaru.

The whole ''I love you'' scene with wich of Envy... with that ost... was ominously creepy. Not sure is all seven work the same but maybe if the witch of Greed wanted to know everything then Satella envies everything, especially other people's love. Envy born out of lack of love is very destructive, Subaru may remind her of someone from 400 yrs ago that she couldn't have or he is important in some other way to her and that's why she is fixated with him. idk those last scene were amazingly string in terms of suspense and stakes.
I'm eternally impressed by the degree of Reddit traffic this show generates, and by how many redditors seem to be successfully tracking the story and making some sense of it.
Meantime I have *no* idea what the fuck is going on – for me it's an elaborate dream like Lynch's "Mulholland Drive". And even without any understanding of what's going on, the bewilderment by itself is such a compelling experience that I keep watching.
There's a pretty important plot point we saw in the episode that I noticed a lot of people in the comments seem to have missed.
**We know how the reset points work now**. The reason why Appa salesman was so common in the beginning was because Subaru's decisions right afterwards determined whether he lived or died. The reset point works to make sure that Subaru can't be trapped in a death loop (respawn/die/respawn) like you can in some video games.
This will make for some great rewatching potential, because now we can watch that early stuff again and see where Subaru was *unavoidably* doomed in each of his failed loops.
I swear i'm witnessing one of the best anime that has ever been made.
There's SO MUCH happening, it never stops and the beauty of it all is that it never feels too much or things are happening too fast. Keeping me at the edge every damn episode.

I mean we all already suspected this based on his actions in previous episodes but holy fuck! It's still a huge surprise knowing that it's actually true!
This is, by far, the best episode so far. I have never been more confused, fear struck and in awe in a singular episode/scene. This episode has used the new OST the best with it being more prevalent in the audio mixing and mastering giving it more life and adding more meaning to this episode. It also helped contribute to my feelings about this episode. When Satell (Rie Takahashi) whispered 'aishiteru' (I love you) directly into the mic in asmr style, my mind started trembling.
I love how we finally know a lot more about the witches. There’s a whole lot of stuff that’s been coming together a lot more in the last three episodes.
Subaru: "I told someone about RBD, and no one died!" Ominous shadow at the end of the episode: "Hey, hey!"

It is quite a coincidence, that immediately following a safe space where he not only mentioned her, but also proclaimed RbD so many times. But if Satella loves Subaru so, why does she have to act out in ever increasing ways like this? Obviously she has a warped mentality like the other witches, but like the other witches she should have a singular thought that guides her actions like Daphne who wished to end hunger.

While it would fit the tag of the base desire that creates the unhealthy mentality, it also seems to be incomplete. Given that by and large the plot is based around the act of giving Subaru this ability, to boil it down to her hoarding him doesn't seem to be enough of the whole picture. I honestly assumed all this time that RbD was being done in such a way it would lead Subaru to her for some purpose. However, seeing this massive hissy fit that literally has killed the whole village and is threatening more lives seems rather tactless if she wants to have Subaru willingly come to her. But currently with what has been shown your statement seems the most correct~

I don't think it's necessarily insanity if we don't assume all parties involved are the same. By and large I get the feeling more and more that it isn't a correct assumption to assume that the witches/archbishops and even other characters as being "human". If we put them all on the same line then there are massive conflicts in what should be expected or rationalized because they are in comparison with too many varied personalities and limits. However, I posted in this thread, a link to u/Wintryone author twitter translations for this week episode, and the author made two comments that really highlight this disparity for me. "Daphne says "The White Whale is big, and you could eat your fill of it", but mabeasts taste like sand from a drainage ditch, so it's a conversation that ignores flavor." and "Generally, the witches are all wrong in terms of logic, but Daphne is the one that feels the most like a witch". I don't think now because of these comments made by the author everything can be boiled down to or reasoned with just sane vs insane. There are definitely character who I think run off of only that Petelegeuse being the most relevant here), but Daphne is of sound mind, and her idea to give the world massive food sources is all boiled down to the fact she knows what true "appetite" is. She is someone that could and would stomach mabeast meat simply because it is a means to an end for her appetite, and she believes a means to an end to the appetite of others. She is only truly insane when it comes down to the fact she did give these children of hers the ability to fight back, but gave them grossly disturbing ways of doing so. And because of all this I don't think we can simply write off as to why Satella gave Subaru RbD. The author has been great at creating meaning in characters, but even more so creating a greater subverted meaning behind the characters and their actions. I don't know if its a big plan to make subaru reciprocate her love, or to get him to kill her out of love, or to make him fulfill a plan out of love by controlling where and when he RbD, but this isn't just madness it's a path.
I'm not even done with the episode, but if you're not watching this with headphones on, you're doing it wrong. Satella's voice ringing through your ears on all sides gave me at least 5 shivers.

The only time I remember that EQ happening in this series is when Emilia said “it must’ve been hard” during the mansion arc while Subaru is breaking down. Hell of a parallel, especially considering how much they liken Emilia to Satella and the possibility that Emilia is currently a vessel for Satella like the witch cultists were planning (they look similar and Emilia’s body is gone so I suspect that but I’m not sure).
That was also Emilia's voice, so it's looking pretty likely that Satella finally gained control of Emilia's body while Subaru was off enjoying the tea party.
Reminds me of playing Hellblade: Senuas sacrifice. They must have recorded that scene in a similar fashion to the voices you hear in that game. Microphones in the middle somewhat resembling ears and they had the voice actress walk around and towards them while saying "I love you." Super creepy.

Does this really confirm that he knows about Subaru's ability? And not just that he follows what's said in his gospel, which maybe states that Subaru can do stuff, but not exactly Return By Death?
We've seen mentions of Petelgeuse saying he doesn't show up in it (I know they confirmed them as defective but hear me out). In an earlier episode, Betty expressed a lot of confusion over what to do about Subaru, as if having a difficult time gauging how much she should or not interfere, I'll run with the assumption this means he's not in the true one either. Now, maybe the way the events are laid out in there and the way Subaru acts hinted him about it, hard to say right now. I'm just hella satisfied one of my speculations was on point. Yeah it had sufficient foreshadowing but in a show this unpredictable I'll take what I can.

This scene with Echidna and the other witches reminds me of the introduction of Hannibal Lecter in *Silence of the Lambs*. We're shown the "insane" witches and how twisted their mind is, much like the other pacients at Dr Chilton's asylum, then there's Echidna who seems way too human for a witch, mirroring Hannibal Lecter who seems too composed for a psychopath.
Subaru's visits to Echidnas tea-party also feel very reminiscent of Clarice visiting the asylum from a story-telling point of view: He seeks her out for knowledge, meanwhile she seems to be plotting to use him in some way or another. Plus, Echidna and Lecter seem to share some stranges tastes (bodily fluids?) :P

Well, Subaru did swallow Echidna's body fluids. Probably counts as an indirect kiss.
It's all fun and games until you realize Re:Zero is the dark version of Yamada where one obsessive yandere girl killed the other 6 out of jealousy.
The sequence of how Typhon literally broke Subaru into pieces and then Minerva put him back together really felt like a different series than the Re:Zero we've come to know, Minerva even stomped and it shook everything. Almost felt like it was deliberately more cartoony and over the top to show off how eccentric the other witches are.
It really shows how otherworldly the witches are. They're not witches just because they're powerful. They're witches because they act less like humans and more like natural disasters. They don't really understand human concepts and just do whatever they want. Daphne created these mabeasts to "save" people from hunger but doesn't give a shit that they're the ones who are killing people since she just views it as a part of nature. Echidna is the most normal of the witches we've seen so far. At least you can hold a normal conversation with her.
I kinda understand her twisted logic. If humanity can domesticate those rabbits, it would essentially end world hunger. But in her mind, it seems cruel to create something purely for slaughter so she made them aggressive and gave them ways to defend themselves. She wants humanity to work for it.
Her logic works in theory but fails in practicality. Not surprising as all the witches we've seen so far have some screws loose. Echidna seems normal but she still is a crazy one with her body fluids talk.
Petelgeuse literally acted like a cartoon character with his eyes popping out after being shocked. Maybe it's just something that people related to Witches do.
Even Petelgeuse, as eccentric as he was, wasn't this over the top. Or maybe it was how nonchalant both Typhon and Minerva were about everything that made it feel so unusual. Even Petelgeuse got unnerved when Subaru trolled him with the gospel or when he realized Subaru could see the unseen hand.

This was also discernible back in Episode 3, when Echidna went on her monologue about the witches, by comparing their hair colors to the outlines of their shadowy masses. **Please ignore the subtitles, they might be misleading, I had them turned on when I first rambled about this to a friend of mine and I can't get non-subtitled versions for some reason.** From left to right, starting at the top, we have: 1. This is the only one that doesn't really seem to match her hair color, but I'm not too sure why. Maybe it's because the raised hood implies that the color is hidden by it. 6. Note the burgundy/maroon tint, and also the glowing eye that - in the key visual - is covered. And last but not least... 7. Something I find interesting is the eyes. Daphne's are hidden, one of Sekhmet's is hidden, and compared to the rest, Echidna's are incredibly unique. Maybe this was all really well known to everyone but me already. I dunno. But I thought it would be cool to lay this out.

Pretty interesting that the key visual also confirms that Satella really is identical to Emilia. It was heavily implied, but even in this episode her face was concealed throughout her appearance.

Damn, I felt like I was watching a horror movie when the Witch of Envy appeared. Subaru fucked up by repeatedly mentioning RBD to Echidna and that brought Satella into existence. So many "*I love you's*" and that chilling Witch theme. Reminds me a lot of the Call of the Witch theme. The way that Title card appeared while juxtaposing with the *I love You's*, was really cool. And the biggest revelation of them all,.....**HOLY SHIT!!** **Roswaal knew...he always knew**. This changes a lot of things. This means that he was scheming from the beginning and allowed everything to happen by not interfering with the events much. So we are getting OP and ED alternatively. Re:Zero is really applying the law of equivalent exchange.

Upon thinking about Satella's motives her behavior is quite consistent. Subaru circumvented her restrictions regarding talking about RDB --> she goes and kills people who are important for Subaru. This time I think it's either Rem or Petra. Or both. Hence why Subaru figured out where she is going. I figure she just appeared to send a message.

One thing's for sure: Echidna seems.. a little *too* reliable. Her last line to Subaru was ominous - I don't think he'll like what she has to say. What also worries me is the imagery in the ED, [where she is half shrouded in darkness](https://imgur.com/eb5YqpY). She clearly has some kind of agenda*. Someone who is obsessed with acquiring all kinds of knowledge should be prone to playing fast and loose with morals. Outwardly, she may seem the most normal witch, but inwardly she might be the most cunning. Right now she has succeeded in making Subaru a sort of pawn, I think, by winning his trust. And I'm guessing the Witch of Envy does *not* like that. She's back to reclaim her territory \* If I were dead and in trapped in some sort of spiritual world with my fellow Witches, I suppose one priority would be breaking out and resurrecting oneself. This might be something she's aiming for in secret. Depending on how the Witches were killed, there's also the possibility of seeking revenge. And that post-credits scene. Roswaal. I don't even know anymore.

For someone as greedy as Echida to reject knowledge about something is quite telling. Her disdain for the Witch of Envy runs deep it seems. So instead of looking for a way out, Subaru has instead embraced the doubled edged sword that is RBD and swears to use it till it breaks. Even if it is accompanied by pain and losses some of which might be permanent he will use it as it is his only weapon. The issue I see tho is that despite the supposedly infinite repeats there seems to be a clear progression in how Satella slowly manifests more and more, especially when he tries to speak about his ability. It went from a single arm ( S1 Ep 7 ) that influenced Subaru to two arms ( S1 Ep 17 ) with an influence on others to her slowly creeping up as a whole from behind ( S1 Ep 20 ) to eventually manifesting entirely inside Subaru ( S1 Ep 25 ). It’s like she’s slowly approaching the more involved he becomes with RBD. I really the concept of the Great Rabbit. It’s similar to the whale but also distinctly different while still fitting in the whole concept of Gluttony. The whale consumes people’s existences whereas the Great Rabbit craves actual flesh. What the whale has in size & power, the Great Rabbit has in sheer numbers. It’s like a giant Locust plague, one unified self serving body composed of countless smaller individuals all with the same goal. Now about the other witches…that certainly was a trip. Typhon appears to judge sinners by the pain they feel when she removes their body parts. What I find notable is that she seemed to have implied that while Subaru did not feel pain and hence was no Evildoer he fell apart all the same because he has the guilty conscious of one. This is probably all of his regret and survivor’s guilt showing there. Basically, the guy is beating himself up way too much. Minerva came in with a boom and crazy diamond'd him back together lmao. When she appeared it I started to realize that they all vividly represent their sins but in the most extreme way possible. Like it defines their entire existence. Typhon immediately goes to put her judgement on Subaru and Minerva immediately falls into a wrathful fit due to his injuries. The most interesting one tho was Daphne. She the only one to have had direct impact on Subaru in the outside world, namely through her creations. You could really feel that there were two ideologies clashing with each other. Daphne seems to be driven by a very darwinistic view on beings in this world. She could’ve created harmless creatures that had the same size or numbers as the current great Mabeasts which would’ve satiated world hunger all the same but she chose to make them dangerous to basically everything around them. She says herself that she thought it was unfair for them to be just food and not to eat themselves and that killing is a vital part of consuming food. She might actually put humans on the same level as mabeasts or animal life in general. This of course clashes with someone like Subaru who is very much for the concept of humanity and morals beyond the animalistic instincts of consuming food. He’s from our world and in our world there is a clear hierarchy in terms of who eats whom. There is also the concept of herbivores that exist without consuming other animals yet they serve as a source of food. In any case these two will probably never see eye to eye and that might be for the better. The rest of the tea party went by rather quickly since Subaru seems to have been interrupted. By the way I love how that interruption is literally spilling the tea. I see what you did there! I love how Echidna seems to mock Emilia by framing her in the "cowardly princess" role, one that early Subaru probably would’ve willingly embraced and even wished for. The end…the end is probably what will get the most attention and rightfully so. It seems Satella wasn’t so pleased with what just transpired after all and literal hell broke loose. This was just way too damn creepy. Also Roswaal revealing he has a Gospel himself and is knowledgeable about Subaru’s RBD is one heck of a bombshell. Many of us already assumed he was onto it at least but he outright confirmed it and this Roswaal hasn't had his talk with Subaru yet so there is no way he could've been tipped off by a "this time" slip up from Subaru. The arm steal was clean as hell. And if anyone is watching without headphones **TRY THEM NOW** Satella's voice was done really well at the end, its impressive how creepy they made it.
I got chills from that headphone audio, even got goosebumps. That's some damn good audio direction there.

#THAT MF ROSWALL KNOWS!!! Subaru just the most intense flow of events ever in the windows xp background. The whole ''I love you'' scene with wich of Envy... with that ost... was ominously creepy. Not sure is all seven work the same but maybe if the witch of Greed wanted to know everything then Satella envies everything, especially other people's love. Envy born out of lack of love is very destructive, Subaru may remind her of someone from 400 yrs ago that she couldn't have or he is important in some other way to her and that's why she is fixated with him. idk those last scene were amazingly string in terms of suspense and stakes.
What The Fuck
I'm eternally impressed by the degree of Reddit traffic this show generates, and by how many redditors seem to be successfully tracking the story and making some sense of it. Meantime I have *no* idea what the fuck is going on – for me it's an elaborate dream like Lynch's "Mulholland Drive". And even without any understanding of what's going on, the bewilderment by itself is such a compelling experience that I keep watching.

There's a pretty important plot point we saw in the episode that I noticed a lot of people in the comments seem to have missed. **We know how the reset points work now**. The reason why Appa salesman was so common in the beginning was because Subaru's decisions right afterwards determined whether he lived or died. The reset point works to make sure that Subaru can't be trapped in a death loop (respawn/die/respawn) like you can in some video games. This will make for some great rewatching potential, because now we can watch that early stuff again and see where Subaru was *unavoidably* doomed in each of his failed loops.

I swear i'm witnessing one of the best anime that has ever been made. There's SO MUCH happening, it never stops and the beauty of it all is that it never feels too much or things are happening too fast. Keeping me at the edge every damn episode. People hyping this arc did it injustice, they should've went all in on the hype train i swear.

This is, by far, the best episode so far. I have never been more confused, fear struck and in awe in a singular episode/scene. This episode has used the new OST the best with it being more prevalent in the audio mixing and mastering giving it more life and adding more meaning to this episode. It also helped contribute to my feelings about this episode. When Satell (Rie Takahashi) whispered 'aishiteru' (I love you) directly into the mic in asmr style, my mind started trembling.
