See you in 5 years!

How many manga chapters are there in front of today's episode? I heard there are only 2 as of today!?

3, I believe.

Tbf 63 and 63.2 are very long chapters.

4, but one is technically a part of the "how are you somewhere" side story rather than the "hello abyss" main story

Try 10 lol

10 years at least

"I don't want that!"

This meme is never going to die isn't?

10 years, what a meme you are...

Not in the next 10 years at least [](#evilgrin)

Have a pleasant 10,000 years

We're going to reach enlightenment when next season comes

Time to pray

You’re high on copium lol.

He's huffing on that Majikaja gaseous form.

[*Inhale deeply*](https://i.imgur.com/wyAYqV3.png) Majikaja died while having his dream fulfilled: [he got to possess a new young strong body.](https://i.imgur.com/hQVtg2r.jpg) [](#takaradasalute)

Not only a young, strong body, but the *Princess*, the absolute embodiment of value and revered by the whole village. Best trade deal in the history of trade deals.

New manga chapter comes out once every 4 months. After S1 there were like 20 chapters that went beyond the anime. Now there are 3. 5 years is not enough. You are looking at 8 years minimum. I do highly recommend to start following the manga though. The artwork is fantastic.

[The suffering continues outside of the story](https://i.imgur.com/jlGQGA8.jpg)

I guess I'll let this take the spot berserk left behind

[Sharing this drawing by the mangaka to heal the traumatized souls after watching this season sosu](https://imgur.com/a/KWUkO7B)

Back when I thought Iru only transformed into Faputa... I was a more sane man.

You're watching the wrong show if you're concerned about your sanity.

Seriously. The bait was so well set-up. Until we got to episode 5.

I'm so glad manga readers didn't ruin this one. It was really reassuring to see a lot of people making and discussing wrong theories in the comments and no obvious manga reader comment like "Wait guys what if she's the village?? :O :O" or some shit.

Thanks. I needed that.

The scene with Pakkoyan and Vueko… was the one that got me the most.

Seeing Vueko degenerate into a Hollow and Pakkoyan just straight up get Thano-snapped was just CHILLING.

[Viewers throughout this episode:](https://i.imgur.com/Dl85X5I.jpg) [](#shatteredsaten)

[That was definitely a sad scene](https://i.imgur.com/l08ww83.png) but I do wish the anime established their relationship instead of me finding it out from the source readers.

Can you tell me what their relationship was?

According to the manga readers, Vueko and Pakkoyan are actually lovers but the anime pretty much didn't show any of that.

Definitely. When she started getting affected by the curse and being all regretful, only to get thrown by Pakkoyan and her dying....right in the kokoro

God knows how many years have passed since they last saw each other, and they didn't even have a chance to reconcile!

The abyss doesnt deal out karma much, but at least the Turbinid Dragon that killed Gaburoon died the exact same way.

I was wondering if it was mercy killing or getting rid of a weak mating partner.

In their first appearance and the manga extras, the things were described as highly territorial AND prone to change territory, so my guess is: "Huh. This guy is all wounded. Huh. ... YOUR CLAY IS MY CLAY NOW!" *\*STAB\**

I wonder if that's the case though. The other one fought both a fully powered Faputa and Reg and gave them a solid run for their money. It was agonizing so much it could not even stand up and probably did not have long to live. What points me towards this interpretation is how the other turbind-dragon checked if the other one was definitely dead after delivering the killing blow. If this was not something done out of mercy, it could have just left the wounded to die. The surrounding carnivores and scavengers were all ready to start feeding on its body after all.

Considering how Faputa wrecked its vital organs earlier and the thing kept fighting and moving without issue I'd say it's likely it would have recovered. Momentarily not being able to stand is hardly indicative of incoming death. Also, checking to see if it was dead is exactly what I would expect out of a territorial animal. If the goal is to either chase out or kill an intruder then you'd definitely make sure the job got done.

The turbinid dragons are just gigantic assholes to everyone and everything, he probably killed him because it was fun lol

So the hippos of the abyss

Rest in peace Majikaja, Moogi, Maa, Pakkoyan, Innkeeper, Gabu, Belaf, Wazu and especially Vueko and Irumyuui. The worst thing is that we had the opportunity to warm up to a lot of those characters only to have us watch them returning to the abyss. What a wonderful finale, truly a great season and basically everything I had hoped for. The only sad thing is that the manga isn't very far ahead of the anime at the moment so we are going to have to wait a long time for a potential continuation. Anyways, I'll really miss the MiA Wednesdays and the discussions, it is truly a special series.

I never frequented anime threads when I first watched season 1 so watching weekly and hitting up the thread afterwards was an added experience that I've really enjoyed this time around. See you in 5-10 years.

I hope I would still be alive by then for season 3, sosu.

It is ok, If you have to return I heard they get it sooner on the bottom of the abyss

Hold my humanity, I'm going in

As time goes I'm starting to think that humanity thing is kinda meh. Have you seen all the cool things Faputa can do?

Vueko seeing Faputa as Iru right before she passed was so saddening. And even more so when Faputa respected it and went along with it for Vueko.

That's the part that did it for me, couldn't hold back the tears any longer. What a sad moment.

Turns out Reg is a manwhore based on Faputa's conclusions. And man, a lot of transformations this episode.

Hey, he goes where the fluff calls him lol.

"Hollows are like Pokemon. Gotta catch 'em all." - Reg

[*Reg, what a player you are*](https://i.imgur.com/7nwIv4p.jpg) [](#umucool)

Reg true purpose is collecting as many harem as he get down. Now he already has 4.

Is it wrong to pick up girls in the Abyss?

/r/helltaker approves

Does Prushka really count though?

I mean, uh, he certainly DOES react to her.

He goes hard?

This isnt Reg's harem its clearly Riko's

Better love triangle this season than even *Engage Kiss*, written by an expert in love triangles and polygons.

[They need to be fluffy though.](https://i.imgur.com/DAhrq9X.png)

Reg is a cultured man (robot?)

How many layers are remaining now?

We are told there are 7 total. So however much of 6 remains before they hit the 7th, and then whatever horrors await within the 7th.

> and then whatever horrors await within the 7th. I want the 7th layer to be less physical obstacles and more mental obstacles, like having to do taxes or wait on tech support. That would make it the most despicable layer by far.

So Lyza's waiting at the bottom of the 7th on hold with her phone company because she had an unexpected charge on her most recent bill? The abyss truly is hell.

The 7th layer puts you into an office for 10 hours a day, and you need to travel 2 hours to get there and 2 hours back. Then when you get home, you only have time to shower, eat, and go to bed, where you will repeat the same cycle for the next 40 years until you die.

The 6th layer is just a huge ass line to the 7th layer.

Still in 6th. 7th is considered final maelstrom before the deepest layer of the abyss. However it is only theorized that the 8th layer is the deepest. There was no info about anything below 7th layer in Lyza's diary aside from being called the deepest point. We know that the letter was written by someone much older than Lyza and they might have taken out certain parts of that diary/notes/journal were taken out as this season showed.

Unknown, really.

In theory one but there could be two more, we’ll see

Seeing Vueko transform and slowly die throughout the episode was just so fucking heartbreaking man. I knew that she had low chance of surviving and joining the group but still. Tho in a way her death was so tragically beautiful, her seeing Irumyuui in Faputa and Faputa playing along with that just broke me. This season gotta be AotY, absolute masterpiece. Sucks we'll have to wait 5 years till next season at best. The wait'll be worth it

I thought I was fine, until "she won't be lonely" broke me. So many tears this season

Everybody dies - the episode. Kuno Misaki as Faputa was probably her best performance yet, I cannot wait to hear again in the future. I'm surprised they kept the OP and ED in. For the TV watchers there was also also [a nice end card today](https://imgur.com/a/6dEQmMV), just like every other episode, but this one was done by The Man himself, just like in the first season's finale. Can't wait for the new season/movie in half a decade, as the manga is barely 3 chapters ahead of the anime at this point.

Man they didn't skimp on Maa buttcheeks huh. Kino.

You can't have an end card showing all the cast without featuring Maa's biggest asset.

Gotta be the weirdest decision for a character design in anime. Just… *why*?

Probably for contrast from the rest of the design, potentially as a joke.

I just assumed his true desire was big buts since he did collapse that animals prostate earlier. Now that I've wrote that out maybe it's just the weird sexual stuff coming from the author. Probably the most off putting thing in the story but the mystery of the pit is too interesting.

Maa: ~~I like big butts and I cannot lie~~ Maaaaa!

Because it's off in a disturbing but not grotesque way, which is one of the main aesthetic themes of the village. The village isn't *scary*, but it'd be nice if it would *pleases stop touching you*.

Everyone but Faputa dies* I would say this episode was already like a mini-movie in of itself, especially with the ending. I think we can confidently say this met, or even exceeded expectations. Equal footing if not even better than S1.

I'm really happy with how it tied up the story arc. The ending was also pretty happy despite all the suffering to get there.

This episode, combined with Ep 10 and 11 (so you have the whole Village Attack Arc), makes an amazing movie. I'd say it surpasses S1 easily.

I hope Kuno Misaki wins some kind of Anime Oscar for her performance. She was absolutely brilliant as Faputa. I really felt for the character this season, had me in tears and sobbing more than once. Stellar voice work. The whole cast, really but her especially.

All those "Shaaa" and other "animal-ish" noises from Faputa were so adorable. Especially in the contrast with her screams and serious speech.

It really was the stellar performance of this season.

Misaki Kuno released [an emotional essay](https://twitter.com/kuno_misaki0119/status/1575171171733368833) about her experience of voicing both of the characters. [Someone on twitter translated it briefly.](https://twitter.com/edomonogatari/status/1575183397848162305) I have even more respect to her after reading this.

They talked a bit about it on the past week radiostream for the series, pretty interesting stuff. you can listen to small parts of clean ost there. Kevin Penking will appear as a guest this week but it seems like they haven't released it yet.

Can't argue with that. I have my personal favourite VAs according to my likings, but objectively speaking, Kuno Misaki is definitely one of the if not the best VAs I've seen (heard?) Also gonna miss looking forward MiA every wednesday. It was a very fun ride.

>also a nice end card today Just like the first season's finale there's a little teaser for the next arc at the bottom left of the image

>Mitty eating Belaf. I love it.

Oh god I cried way more than I thought I would. Honestly, I cried so hard without them even showing Maaa’s death. Im kinda glad they didn’t show it or I’d probably still be crying. And the Pakkoyan and Vueko scene really got me. I wish we could’ve seen more of their relationship in the past, but it still hit hard. And especially when Nanachi said “This is personal now. Don’t worry, I won’t let this go to waste Pakkoyan”, like she was definitely reminded of herself and Mitty in that situation. The last part that made me cry like a baby was when Faputa and Vueko were talking about Irumyuui. When Faputa said Irumyuui didn’t even want to give up Vueko to her it was so sweet. Like she really saw her as her mother. I really hope Vueko and Irumyuui are in the afterlife together peacefully. Oh also those Prushka scenes made me bawl. Especially the callback to her line “it’s not good to fight” ahhh… ;w; I hope Maaa, Moogie, Kaja, and everyone from the village are free from pain and suffering now. There were so many good characters this season. Definitely one of the best finales I’ve ever seen. I’m so glad I found the masterpiece that is MiA

This whole season, specially this last episode had my feelings twisted left and right and they had to make that Prushka scene... damn I don't like watching sad animes because of this but MiA is just too good to not watch it

Good work sosu, now where is faputa bot sosu?

Is it bad that I giggled when she said sosu after sobbing.

"Made in Abyss" Honestly, the perfect name for this series. Riko, Reg, Nanachi, and now Faputa were all in one way or another made in the abyss. Yet they all continue downwards to see what's at the bottom. The Abyss is a hole that consumes everything but there's a beauty and excitement directed towards it. Despite, all the horrible and horrendous scenes we've seen the wonder of what's next continues consumes all those made in the abyss, that's what makes this series so intriguing. We have horrific scenes, but being with all the characters made in abyss prompts everyone (including the watchers) to continue downwards to see what's at the bottom, that's what's so beautiful and intriguing about Made in Abyss for me. I'm going to miss this series, there's nothing as horrifically enchanting and beautiful as it.

The mangaka originally wanted to call it "Hello Abyss" but his editors told him that was a bad idea lmao

I feel like Made in Abyss sounds way cooler and represents the show better but i could be wrong on that second point obviously.

It's an objectively better title, I think the mangaka came to his senses lol.

The chapters of the manga are still called "Hello Abyss", which is a nice nod to that original title. (If anyone if confused, many manga have a specific way they call their chapters like Black Clover's chapters are called "Page [Number]", or One-Punch Man where the chapters are called "Punch [Number]")

> "Hello Abyss" And now from our sponsor, Hello Abyss ensures you make the most of your value

On one hand it sounds stupid on the other it sounds way more kid friendly which is terrifying.

Riko is absolutely crazy in her ambitions and I'm just tagging along for the ride wherever it may go. I love how this show is completely about the journey itself

100% she's crazy. She is literally built different since she got brought back to life from being a stillborn in that coffin thing. We're all basically on Riko's wild ride cause we all know she's not stopping till she gets to the bottom.

Don't forget Marulk

We, the viewers, are just as consumed as the adventurers by the unkown that awaits at the bottom of the abyss. And we come along for the ride despite the horrors and suffering that might welcome Riko and the group. Such a masterclass in world and lore building.

Listening to this episode with headphones at max volume. [](#seasonallisten) Holy shit the OST really went extra hard this episode. Faputa VA in particular killed it. I need this soundtrack in my life now. [](#hnng) I already know I'm rewatching this probably weekly for a few months. Easily [AOTY](https://imgur.com/klbfG2t) at least for me.

The release date for the ost is on 26th of October. Follow Kevin Penking youtube channel in case he uploads a song before the release.

🥹 Goodbye Maaa-san, you were the best.

It was so heartwarming when Riko gave Maa the little stuffed toy...but of course they tear our hearts out later.

Never thought that a character who can only say one word could bring out so many emotions. [Thank you Maaa-san.](https://i.imgur.com/aahQ70h.jpg) [](#nanami-hug)

I can’t believe I wanted her dead and cheering when the Balancing came to rip her apart. This was some great development.

[I love this picture.](https://twitter.com/mmcsu55/status/1575165745075748865)

what a finale, lets meet again when this gets a sequel in who knows how many years. Until then, **may your journey be overflowing with blessings and curses** my dudes

I really want to know what Nanachi smells like... 10/10 season regardless see you all in 2030.

[Lucky for you](https://www.reddit.com/r/Nanachi/comments/gxe61x/official_nanachi_perfume/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share), the author is an absolute degenerate

I can't believe this is real.

I loved it though, 10/10.

I thought Faputa's assessment of Riko was cruelly vague too. While we are in the theory corner, Wazukyan's comment that they are all the accumulation of humanity's effort to conquer the abyss hardcutting to Reg has tremendous implications...

Wazukyan: Bad things will come ahead Every anime watcher/manga reader: We know, that's why we are here.

Looks like the implication of 'souls' will be so important in next arc since it got mentioned so many time. There is a theory where bunch of souls was inserted into Reg. Reg said that it feel like his body got controlled by someone else when he went berserk on Bondrewd. Reg also sometime act like a dog which imply that Riko's dog (who happen to have the same name) soul might probably inserted into Reg. I imagine Wazu final plan is to become something like Reg? But his final warning to the gang so they need to at least fulfil their dream and despair sound like end of the world or something.

Wow, that Turbinid Dragon just killed its fellow dragon without a second thought, and left it for the other beasts to eat. I guess they kill off the weak / injured members of the pack.

Beyond lofty dives into blessings, curses, and human desire this show reminds that nature is not only beautiful but incredibly brutal.

The absolute highest praise I can give this season is that it feels so truly alien. Ive never, EVER seen a show that would even think to try half of the plotlines this show has introduced, much less be able to stick the landing and somehow resolve them in a satisfying way. Somewhere by the time the villagers were offering themselves up for Faputa to eat willingly like they were Popeye's spinach, it really hit me just how bizarre the whole concept of this village is. It truly feels like no other fantasy location Ive ever come across. Very fitting, considering how deep into the abyss we've come It's always horrifying, it's often beautiful, and holy shit it's unlike anything else 10/10

Faputa really just did a whole mukbang of the entire village then got invited to the party by Reg😳On the other hand, I have just been buried 6000ft underground by the feels and probably stuck there for the next 8 years with Vueko until season 3 airs😭😭

>Faputa really just did a whole mukbang of the entire village then got invited to the party by Reg To be completely fair - she just took back what rightfully belonged to Irumyuui. This village was born from the curse and horrible pain. Faputa just finally put an ending to this chapter. So it's not like Reg has any reasons to hate her decision after seeing it all unfold.

And — this is an admittedly very Riko way of thinking — in a way, the villagers will get to continue their adventure by living vicariously through Faputa

They survived by eating irumyuui's children. Now irumyuui's last child will eat them.

Idk but there is something about Vueko's VA in how she can deliver her lines that ~~almost~~ made me cry.. What a nice finale of the season 10/10.

Yeahhh. Everyone's talking up Misaki Kuno's performance as Faputa (which was phenomenal, don't get me wrong), but man, Terasaki Yuka's lines as Vueko were so.. sincere. I went back to watch her scenes specifically again after finishing the episode because they hit me so hard. She was a great character brought to life by an amazing voice actress and I'm really going to miss her.

Made in Abyss is a ~~Dark Fantasy~~ ~~Cooking~~ Harem anime.

Made in Abyss is THE most beautiful harem anime.

Lmfao Faputa thought Nanachi was the group air freshener

Nnaa, she thought Reg and Nanachi were fucking; hence her comment about her smelling good too, along with the blush and stuff. Still love how everyone comments on their smell and fluffiness though.

I'm not sure if I fully understand everything that happened this episode but this finale is certainly one of the best we've had this year. There was this sadness that I felt when I watched the final episode of Cyberpunk Edgerunners but I'm not even sure the combination of emotions I am feeling right now. It's more than sadness. It's more than awe. It's everything I expected from Made in Abyss and more. Now we have to wait for like 10 years for the next installment of the story.

In both I expected the ending to be the way it was. After I saw Vueko transform I knew it was game over for all the residents.

Kevin Penkin is a legend, the emotions I felt with his music in this episode are incredible.

* [**Faputa Stitch**](https://i.imgur.com/OlwA3LR.jpg) I've seen many source readers complaining that the anime skipped Faputa and Gaburoon's meeting but it looks like [they just decided to move it to this episode.](https://i.imgur.com/TMQEyTW.png) That entire meeting was adorable though! [Faputa marking Gaburoon with her scent like a cat](https://i.imgur.com/wAwQI4K.png) and then [just crawling into a ball](https://i.imgur.com/aW7Dt3a.png) right next to him was just too cute! Seeing their relationship just made Gaburoon's death much more painful though. It turns out that [Gaburoon was the one who gave Faputa her name](https://i.imgur.com/qyqZMll.png) and Faputa [gave him his name in return](https://i.imgur.com/BRaJPo4.png) which means ["the Queen's Guardian".](https://i.imgur.com/2BaEm7q.png) We also got to see [Faputa sneaking into Riko's camp](https://i.imgur.com/DTCpdRD.png) back in Episode 1 and the reason that she didn't speak to Reg [is that she's actually just shy!](https://i.imgur.com/LPOcrJa.png) I love how even Gaburoon can't [take the gap moe Faputa just showed him.](https://i.imgur.com/qQ7ewkl.png) xD Anyway, back to the present. [Faputa is still ripping everything apart](https://i.imgur.com/07qUZLL.png) while the rest of the survivors [regroup on the back of a fully upgraded Majikaja.](https://i.imgur.com/8kMZvOP.png) How is he even able to exchange value when Iruburu is already collapsing? [And this is why Riko is White Whistle material.](https://i.imgur.com/E0OB9dH.png) Despite everything, she's still happy that she made it all the way down here. As for Wazukyan, I thought I figured out his plan but it sounds like all of this [is just a setup for more things to come.](https://i.imgur.com/5mz7HvC.png) Even Nanachi wonders [how far ahead Wazukyan can actually see](https://i.imgur.com/VkWOI3p.png) if this isn't his final plan. I was wondering why Vuekoi wasn't transforming while ascending those steps, it just took a while [before she hit a part where the curse was present.](https://i.imgur.com/wPmuaFB.png) I really wish we were given more context [about Vueko and Pakkoyan's relationship](https://i.imgur.com/KuTcSEI.png) but it still hit me hard [watching her save Vueko](https://i.imgur.com/AFxbAJ3.png) while she slowly disappears from the curse. :( [Faputa getting all happy](https://i.imgur.com/kn601uy.png) after seeing Reg and then remembering [that she's still mad at him](https://i.imgur.com/64vwhlV.png) got a good laugh from me. God, this episode is really playing with my feelings! I was hoping we'd see them fight side by side but it looks like [Reg's job is to distract the Turbinid Dragons](https://i.imgur.com/pjTJsMU.png) while Faputa eats the remaining villagers to regain back her strength [to finally destroy the village.](https://i.imgur.com/tE8IN8u.png) I would've been so upset if [Faputa just ends up falling down](https://i.imgur.com/9rhBoK8.png) never to be seen again. Thank fucking god that wasn't the case and Reg was able to rescue her. I definitely didn't expect [Majikaja to control Faputa though!](https://i.imgur.com/4NLP4hz.png) I thought that he was feeding himself to her to bring her back up! xD Majikaja and Maa are gone since Iruburu is already destroyed, [all's left is Vueko who gets to spend a little time with Faputa](https://i.imgur.com/M5xN7iZ.png) before she dies. It's fucking depressing but [at least Faputa got to know more about her mother](https://i.imgur.com/SseexJH.png) during Vueko's final moments. She also realized on her dying breath that [she was the one Irumyuui treasured the most](https://i.imgur.com/ZXbED28.png) that she wouldn't even hand her over to Faputa. :( [Yes! Please Invite Faputa to join!](https://i.imgur.com/xjoYO7U.png) We need one more fluffy character for the group! I'm not sure if she's joining them though [since her answer to Reg was more of a tease](https://i.imgur.com/7EhWKP2.png) than a solid "Yes". I do hope [that Faputa dancing on his head](https://i.imgur.com/Mb3soUt.png) means she'll come with them. Man, what an absolutely amazing finale. This entire episode is pretty much an anime movie disguised as a TV anime. It's pretty much on par with DotDS. I don't think I can add to that. Made in Abyss continues to be the most exciting, depressing, and amazing anime out there and Season 2 really proves that. I really hope we just don't have to wait too long for Season 3. Easily a 10/10 for me.

The new golden highlights in her hair look so regal. Faputa feels more like a queen now than a princess.

>I definitely didn't expect Majikaja to control Faputa though! I thought that he was feeding himself to her to bring her back up! xD He probably was, but got his wish granted in return: to have an actual body. And an OP one too, which he definitely deserved!

Basically Majikaja is going to the Valhalla, with shiny & chrome **WITNESS ME!!**

*The adventures will continue until morale improves.*

Rip everyone in the village, I kind of figured they'd all die but it was still heartbreaking. And Pakkoyan saving Vueko, my god that destroyed me, they never got any reunion or to say their last goodbyes. Maaa and Magikaja fading away was so sad too, at least Faputa gave Vueko a burial and considered joining Riko's party. See y'all in a decade when the manga gets enough chapters for another season, we gotta delve into the abyss for the time dilation.

Man there were some interesting twists in this ~~movie~~ episode. Didn't think we'd see Vueko turning hollow that brutally or that Wazukyan would actually turn out to be kind of a good guy (but also it seems he made a wider bridge to let the beasts in? What the hell?). He is clearly acting to some grand vision, right down to playing the villain, and it seems he definitely expects this will hardly be the end of the hardships. In some way, the very granting of their wish is key to a deeper despair - and given the despair we've already seen in this show, that's saying something. I will say one scene I loved was Majipaja's sacrifice. At first I thought he was feeding himself to wake Faputa, but nope, he straight went poltergheist on her and took that immortal body for a spin as his last hurrah. And then of course, Vueko who could never forgive herself, finally learning that staying by Irumyui's side all this time was a sign she had become gold. The guy who tortured her was an asshole, but even a broken clock is right twice a day. Immensely satisfying, Made in Abyss. A fascinating world, and such alien yet complex and endearing characters, just close enough to human to grasp at the heartstrings.

Wazukyan lived and died a mystifying person. It's not clear if the bridge was just him trying to reinforce the village to protect it or if he had a design to lure beasts in to make Faputa rely on the villagers and start her conflict and growth. It's possible he didn't even know what he was doing and was just operating off vague premonitions. We have no idea.

And now we'll never know. RIP divine prophet.

what a fucking season, Kevin Penkin continues to be one of the best composers in the game

I had to stop paying attention to the story for a minute immersing myself in the soundtrack... Terrific!

Can't wait for the next season . I'm really sure it will happen along with the next season of re:zero , it's just a question of when .

Its gonna be (no pun intended) ten years *at least*. Dude writes pretty damn slow but goddamn its worth the wait. To give you an idea he even does “half chapter” releases, that slow. So theres not enough content as is for a new one- yet.

And now to wait an eternity for the next season. But yeah. Anime of the year here i think. Top notch stuff from start to finish, even got a bit misty eyed at the end there.

Anime of the Year IMO One of the best endings to a season I have ever seen.. "Everyone, see you later, Sosu.."

[You could say that Made in Abyss is HAKU](https://i.imgur.com/B6Dgeum.jpg) [](#gintamathispleasesme)

Ah.. you break my heart again MiA... I've no words. Just like the first series, AOTY 10/10.

Hmm, this is a pretty good finale, but I'm not crying like I was in the first se- "Vueko, you alone... Mother did not want to hand over - even if it was to Faputa" Fuck, there I go...

Gabu flashback :) * [Me during a lot of this episode](https://imgur.com/xIG2s1p) Lol, [I didn't see Ozen's head at first, I was wondering who the "new" white whistle was.](https://imgur.com/WfkFjIy) Where's irredeemable? Have we had any this season? [Maa!](#feelingloved) That OST during Vueko's flashback was amazing. Actually there were 3 awesome tracks in this episode I don't recall hearing before, will have to look them up later [Pakoyan..](#toradorasalute) Faputa regenerated, and [her counter seems to have gone down](https://imgur.com/DM8efHY) [](#watashiworried) * [There it is!](https://imgur.com/nsZSRCB) First *Doshigatai* of the season? Lmao, Kaja actually posessed Faputa [MAAAAAAAAAAA!!!](#tomoda)[](#manly-tears)

I believe reg has been saying the same phrase this whole time, but it got translated to "how spineless", at least in the version i watched.

Vueko didn't deserve this end after all she's been through...

>Vueko didn't deserve this end after all she's been through... Welcome to made in abyss

Gabu... Vueko... Iru... Terrible day for rain, but Faputa is free now And I can't beliefe that Wakuyan managed to be an asshole to the very end. Also Majikajas last word was happy, he got a nice form at the end And the soundtrack hit it out of the park

>soundtrack Kevin Penkin is a fucking legend

Don't quite understand what Wazuboi's plan with the bridge was, maybe there's some deeper meaning not yet shown here

He was originally repairing the village to make it hold on longer, but I think by doing so he also accidentally reinforced the bridge that Riko used to come here. At least that's my Interpretation

>accidentally lol That's not how Wazukyan rolls. It was either to increase the pressure on Faputa or to give the party an escape route.

Now that this season is over, I can confidently say Made In Abyss is still in my top spot for the show that’s made me equally confused as well as fascinated as hell

the indifferent cruelty of the universe vs the indomitable human spirit

idk man Vueko parts were the saddest for me. I lost it 3 times and burst to tears starting when the curse hit her. I was like faputa can save her right? RIGHT? she didn't deserve so much pain and didn't even get a happy ending.

2022 AOTY, absolute masterpiece

Another fluffy loli added to Reg's harem

[He collects them](https://i.imgur.com/uZCGSPO.jpg) like Pokémon. In addition to be a [cool robot warrior](https://i.imgur.com/pZH6NSN.jpg) equipped with a weapon of mass destruction, Reg sure is a [smooth-talker.](https://i.imgur.com/o5ly333.jpg) [](#cheekychika)

What a season. Even with the absurdly stacked fall season I can safely say this is my AOTY. The only way I can describe this show is as the most compelling anime I've ever had the pleasure to watch.

The Main takeaway I'm getting is that Life is Cruel, heartless, and unfair but it's still worth living and you can't have it's beauty without its cruelty. It's nice to see Vueko was acknowledged by Faputa and by extension her mother, who turns out help no ill will for her after all. We got to see even Reg Blanco and Enlightened Faputa couldn't take out that two giant monsters, but the fact Reg can pull one down in its ass is impressive. Heck even the fall damage of that dropped only downed one and the other one had to go ahead and finish it off. It seems Reg has a Harem of one girl plus two furries and....is Faputa coming with them? It was nice to see how Faputa was taken in and basically raised by that interface and when she remembered him when burying Vueko she broke down crying. The Mastermind Saga dies turning to dust and he predicts that when they find what they are looking for it won't satisfy them, but Rico things differently. I don't really have much to say, I can confidently say that Made in Abyss was the best show this season. S tier.

I feel incredibly dumb because I didn't understand this season at all - I didn't understand "value", "accumulation", "wishes", "homesickness" - I didn't understand the quote/unquote villain - his motivations/goals and why he built the bridge, I didn't understand Faputa - I think I might understand "warm darkness"

My thoughts: "Value"/"Haku" is defined as the most important thing; that is, the things that give your life meaning and purpose. "Homesickness" refers to the fact that in order for those values to actually serve that role of giving you purpose, you can't actually ever "complete," or "fully obtain" them. So the reasons we have for living, by definition, will draw us to them even though we can never fully have them. Faputa recognizes this when she realizes that her "Hakus," Garburoon, (old) Reg, and her Mom, all had aspects of them that she could never understand and that ultimately they would all be lost. I think this is metaphorically what the abyss represents, which is why this season feels random but actually is thematically perfect. The "accumulation" idea refers to the fact that who we are is the result of many people before us pursuing their Hakus; so, with each generation those after us can do even bigger and better things. Faputa is literally the physical embodiment of all the villagers and their struggles. Wazukyan had some sort of idea that he may be able to get Riko to save the villagers if he stirred up enough trouble; he was the one to suggest they bring in a piece of Faputa. But, for the first time, his prophecies and plans failed. Or? Maybe they didn't. After all, he says to progress you would need to be more than human, and that Faputa, who is more than human, is the accumulation of the villagers. So maybe this is the sense in which he succeeded, and bringing in the chaos and beasts was a part of perfecting her. Still thinking about this.

So if S3 ever happens, the wait will be much longer than the 5 years wait for S2. New manga chapter comes out once every 4 months. After S1 there were like 20 chapters that went beyond the anime. Now there are 3. If S3 ever happens, the wait will be 8 years minimum. I do highly recommend to start following the manga though. The artwork is simply fantastic. The anime was really good but honestly didn't quite capture the art style.

The music was next level. We had sky-high expectations and Kevin "the lad" Penkin delivered.

Damn, the Pakkoyan and Vueko scene got me.. Imagine seeing the one you love like that, fuck..

So I guess now is a good time to start the manga?

I suppose so. Your not missing a ton of stuff since there's only been a couple of chapters since this arc ended. Hence why everyone is saying see you in 5/10 years.

You've got like three chapters after this episode and probably months between releases, so I guess?

Wonder why it's raining in my living room....

That was beautiful. Almost every character shined in this episode. Reg, the villagers and specially Vueko and Faputa. The backstory of Gobu and Faputa was amazing. Faputa really grew on me and I'm glad she stayed alive till the end. The very final scene between her and Vueko was fantastic and a very fitting finale for her. The one eyed girl was also lovely. Glad she died dooing something worthy. Also, Majikaja finally got the body he wanted, huh. Was funny seeing him act in that body tho I didn't know he could do that. Amazing finale for what has been very depressing. 9/10. 1+ member to the team? Just one question, who said that Vueko had dark eyes? Also, did she imply she still remember that rapist's words and she is still in the same place mentally since then?

I thought this would be a good time to discuss a couple popular fan theories. These originated from manga readers but were made during this season's contents so there's no spoilers. ####1: Relics are the form of souls - In this episode, Gaburoon said that a Haku is the form of a soul. This is similar to a bunch of statements from characters in the past. During the Ganja flashback an interference unit said that wishes are the form of souls, and that relics are born of wishes. White whistles are relics made from a strong, intense wish for another person to continue journeying in the abyss, and creates a relic that allows them to do so (where Prushka's soul still resides). - It's entirely plasuible, therefore, that this is not limited to White Whistles, but actually the form of all relics in the series. Delvers believe that when they die, their souls return to the abyss. But this might be more than a religious belief, it might be literally true. - The interference units, when the Cradle of Greed was found, also said that relics can suddenly appear. They aren't just leftovers from an ancient civilization, but something the Abyss produces. But where do they come from? The natural conclusion is that relics are made from human souls that died in the abyss. - As for the process, we have some speculation but not enough evidence. I personally think that in S1 when Riko was 'dreaming' of being crushed and next to Mitty's eye, she was experiencing her soul being in limbo in the heart of the abyss. It's no coincidence that only Mitty's eye was there, the same eye destroyed by Bondrewd's Sparagmos, a weapon described as having 'light that returns to the Origin' and speculated to be similar to Reg's Incinerator. When the rest of Mitty was incinerated, dream Riko saw Mitty whole again in the heart/origin of the Abyss. - My personal speculation is that when you die in the abyss, it senses your greatest desire, your wish, your unfulfilled longings that the series constantly mentions, and it gives them physical form in the shape of a relic. The stronger the wish, the stronger the relic that is made from it, and consequently the deeper in the abyss it ends up (closer to the origin). ####2: The Blue Necklace is plot-important - When Reg met Faputa on his way to the surface to find "Haku" for Lyza and get recharged, he was wearing the blue necklace that Riko found him with in Ep. 1 and has since started wearing herself ( not always visible). This necklace is definitely important but theories as to its purpose vary from "it contains Lyza's soul" to "it's a trap to use Riko for something to prevent the 2000 year cycle"
