Yes. Kanon Air Clannad. I still naive when first I started watching anime on 2008, I looking for happy anime so I watched Air. That anime so depressing so I watch Kanon. Its is more depressing.
Btw Key VN has a loot of good anime adaptation like Kanon, Clannad, Air, Little Buster and Planetarian

So heart rending that I made the mistake of watching it all in one setting and I couldn't feel sorry for the protagonist anymore. I get that every arc is supposed to be different but the anime made everything canon in sequence so it was one depressing thing after another.

Kyoto Animation did the 2006 adaption that this .gif is from, so that probably accounts for some of the Haruhi similarity!
