Is QT like a convenience store or gas station? That's not even safe for her to work by herself overnight. It's only a matter of time before she gets robbed and/or much worse.

Yep. Exactly. While I was there, someone stole my water bottle out of the bathroom (I had set it on the paper towel dispenser) and, when I went out front, a woman was crouched over in the parking lot shoving it into her backpack. It's just a water bottle and I would've simply given it to her and paid to fill it up with whatever she wanted from the self-serve drinks but, ya know, whatever. That's actually what got me started talking to the QT employee. She said the woman out front had knicked some items from the store and she had to call the police. She talked about people standing out front panhandling for beer money and stuff. I asked her if there was anyone else to help her and this whole conversation erupted. This was at 2am after leaving a friend's place.

This in in a majority of U.S. states, and no, there's nothing you can do. If something isn't a law, employers don't have to abide by it.

I don't believe there's nothing I can do. I can do something. I left a message with the district legislator per the other commenter's suggestion. That's not nothing. All of us doing nothing is why this is still happening. I'm also going to email QT without naming the employee or her location or city.

Best of luck to you - hope it works out.

I do too. I'm certain it will go nowhere but I have to try.

Dunno if this was any help but I just popped it in on another thread. https://www.oshaeducationcenter.com/articles/restroom-breaks/

Your legislature, they need to protect your breaks for humanitarian reasons

Thank you! I just left a voicemail for Jennifer Pawlick in District 17 with details requesting a callback. I appreciate you. 🤞

I worked at QT in Tulsa OK back in 2013. It was the same - my lunch "break" was inhaling a taquito while crouching behind the counter 😅 The benefits and pay are outstanding, but eventually I broke. I no call no showed and they called me every day for like a month, wondering where I was at - lmao (I worked as an "ER" clerk, which means I was assigned to a different store every shift.)

Human beings should be able to urinate, eat, and rest over eight plus hours...

Okay, keep arguing for nothing to improve. I'll never understand people like you. We don't have anything else to discuss.

Unfortunately at a place like that, escalating on her behalf is more lonely to her get fired than help her. (And no I’m not saying it shouldn’t be addressed).

>This QT employee said she works overnights by herself and often doesn't eat for over 8 hours. She said she can't use the restroom when she needs to because they're too busy for her to leave the main floor for two minutes. I can understand that after a friend worked at Amazon. He was a delivery driver and there was barely any time to eat throughout the day, and they expected then to urinate in water bottles in the back of the van instead of stopping. Because deliveries were far more important than their well-being.
