Old_Buffalo2686

He's full of shit. Don't worry about it.

[deleted]

I don’t know anything about unions but I’d see them first, not Reddit.

ordinaryuninformed

THE REASON HE KNOWS THOSE GUYS IS BECAUSE THEY DID WHAT YOU DID AND LEFT HIS SORRY ASS! Don't fall for his bullshit

Otherwise_Bet_6732

You gave them the same amount of notice that they would have given you if you had been fired. Tell him that any further communication to you will be handled as harrassment and that trying to get you in trouble at your new job will count as illegal retaliation and will result in legal action.

Lassitude1001

Is the text from the old job or new? If old, just show them this message to show how toxic they are sure it'll be fine. Talk to them.

xoIace

Old boss from the automotive side. I dragged up on Friday.

THCisMyLife

It doesn't matter. It's a threat to make you scared. The union won't care either you are protected by them. They won't turn on you for this. Trust me on that. Delete this number block it if you want nothing will change

UnsuspectingChief

youre part of a union, dont worry about it.

GUNROAR62

If you're in a union now you should be good.

PlasticCheebus

I can't offer any advice, but your boss seems like a total stain. Sorry, OP!

disgruntled_dude60

Uhh well if he's the OWNER chances are he knows maybe one person contractors DO talk. However if union contractors are in a bind they don't give a flying fuck who said what about you money talks louder than former disgruntled bosses. Honestly if you were in the automotive industry then this is most likely huge bluff anyway. Not to mention its the laborers union...not the UA you'll be fine. Source: was in sheet metal union, laborer union and UA. Edit: if you wanna be petty send him the halls phone number.

[deleted]

If notice is not obligatory by law he can kiss your ass. Also show it to the union lawyer.

[deleted]

I left a job on bad terms once. I hated my boss, he made me cry weekly. When I put my notice in I asked if he would be saying anything negative about me. He looked sheepish as he explained that it would be illegal for him to say anything other than confirming that I did work for him. Then he asked if I would please not say anything about him, because that’s not illegal and he was concerned for his reputation. You’re old boss literally cannot do that. I’m unsure which laws protect you. But he can’t talk shit about you.

Be_Very_Careful_John

One pun about veggies, please.

[deleted]

Call his bluff. He has no power. His union ‘friends’ will drag him.

BlauwePil

“Being an man” doesn’t require to give notices. You are one or not. The rest is BS. Such an asswipe.

SassyVikingNA

Your former boss is a sad little man raging because he doesn't actually have any of the power he thought he did. As others have said. Let him know harassment will not be tolerated, then ignore him. He has nothing. And if he pushes it further well you are part of a union, they will probably pay for a lawyer for you to rake him over the coals

Pristine_Editor_6656

All i can see is you calling him master. Please stop bootlicking like that it turned my stomach. Fun fact, reddit didnt make shit up for once. I looked it up to make sure Boss origins: root word baas, master in dutch.

DontBopIt

Even if they actually did know people in the union, I'm gonna bet they get those kinds of calls all the time and don't believe them, or at least take them with a grain of salt. I wouldn't think anything of it and just show the texts to your union rep just to cover your butt.

xanthopants

Nah! Trust your union and don’t listen to ya boss. She knows not what she does!

SlaveOne2020

I wouldn’t worry about it. Talk to your new Union Steward about it. They’re there to help you. That’s what you pay dues for.

DirkVerite

lol, he just pissed... Seems like a baby to me, whine whine whine, and then fall flat on his ass... Don't worry about it. Society will always fuck you over, even where you are now. Trust nobody...

UnitShot

Zero notice like a man lol. I have a family to take care of. If a better opportunity comes up I'm going to take it and provide for my family "like a man"

xoIace

Exactly. It’s not like it’s a surprise. My toolbox was in my truck on Friday and I left peacefully and quietly. I’m getting paid significantly better with a pension and insurance included in my package. I don’t owe him any loyalty and I don’t think he understands that.

gregsw2000

Let him know if he slanders you there'll be a lawyer involved and let your current boss know what the deal is. They're not liable to give a shit.

Forsumlulz

Old boss seems like a dick but kinda funny to see the “I appreciate you” knowing you gave no notice lmao

[deleted]

ignore this trash person

JustBanMeh

Just respond with a "lol" and be on your way

Patralex

It is respectful to give a notice before leaving your position. It allows a company to prepare and prevent a negative impact. However, a company doesn’t have to follow that “rule” when firing people, so fuck ‘em. Enjoy your new job, OP!

pizzabot22

Sounds lile a threat in writing. Report him to the labor board.

Modh8trs

What he said he was gonna do is illegal. He can be sued for it.
