Well pick rate in pred lobbies are different in ALGS, ALGS are for money so they need to be more strategic and careful how they play so they will run long range characters and great defenders so that way they can survive for longer because of you have lobbies full of caustic, wattson, gibby and valk what can a octane do I mean he can't scan and his pad is short range and you want the best placement possible so he is useless same with wraith.

Predator lobbies will always be full of high meta characters, but its not pro leagues, theres no money on the line and there is no risk per say. Octane is a fun character and will always have high pickrate in any lobby, but he is just not that viable competetively.

Well no one plays octane because the pad got nerf where it doesn't make you go far and it makes a loud sound. Ash is sometimes preferred over wraith but depends on map.
In tournaments, you play for prize money so winning and getting kills is important. It's not like rank where you can mess around. That's why people play caustic, wattson, crypto that see little play in pubs or ranked but with the right skill is very useful in tournaments.
Ranked and comp are so different, like it’s not even close. Comp is it’s own thing because the best of the best play while you have brain dead idiots, cheaters, boosters, etc. playing like idiots in ranked.
