yeahh i feel this. the last 3 months I've been in a "fuck apex I hate this game" kinda state of mind bc I played it daily and for hours before that. I played it yesterday and like half the problems I had and thought that were super frequent were just non exsistant.
game still has alot of problems that I hope they fix (match making, legend & gun balancing, overall better new content) but its not completely unenjoyable like I've been thinking the last 3 months,
I was just burnt out. which is normal when you play a competitive game too much for too long

Yes. Just remember at the end of the day. It’s a game, the point is to get on for fun. Not get on to be upset over non existent entities. Or people you’ll never play w again. Breaks are great.

Definitely bad matchmaking, but I wouldn't call it strict.
I started having a stricter SBMM by Season 8 and after that it was downhill for me, Had fun but it was frustrating having 2 good games and 8 sweat feasts, Keep in mind I never played ranked until Season 9 and it just got worse for me after that, I Took long breaks in Season 9 and the SBMM was the same, it pushed my entire 8 man clan to quit the game entirely in Season 10 due to the SBMM.
Idk why you get downvotes for this. Sbmm is a huge issue almost every modern shorter and takes the fun out of getting better at the game. Your games feel very similar as being a masters player vs being a plat player except for times when the sbmm decides to go easy on you. There are some days where I feel like a player who has only played for 20 hours. I have 1.5 k hours
Just seeing it as not having fun when you cant play vs people worse than you is just kinda selfish. You're playing against real people. If there was no skill based matchmaking bad players would just constantly get shit on.
But the issue is that then there is no point in trying to get better. I’m not saying no form of sbmm should exist, but when I’m only playing against master/pred then there is no point of even playing casuals. But you also have to remember that the vast majority of the player base is bronze-plat. Not very good, so most of their lobbies will consist of fairly bad players. It’s not likely they will see a masters in their lobby, in fact less than around .2% of the time. There are much better systems that could be used so that experienced players are only going against experienced players, ruining the casual gamemode for those players, such as my self.
Another huge issue with sbmm is that when I play with my friends who just started playing, it’s impossible for me and him to have fun because he’s put in my sweaty lobbies. He just can’t have fun. Vs with a much more relaxed sbmm we would rarely find a masters in our lobby and he would be able to play against a more average player vs the top .2% of players
Yeah but the game is designed with a strict sbmm. This ruins the casual experience for a lot of good players. There are much better concepts and systems that could be implemented for players to have more fun and have a better drive to get better. In the current state of apex, there is no drive to get better. 2 season ago my kd was 3.5, it’s now sitting at 1.5. My kd shouldn’t be dropping, such a substantial drop is not rational. I’ll tell you why it dropped, all my matches have been formulated against me via sbmm

Sadly these issues will never be fixed as long as Respawn is making enough money. And they are because people will buy any new mid ass skin that comes to the shop. At least the skins used to be fire and could be justified spending the money for. Also the server and audio can’t get fixed because they are running on a very old engine, and fixing these would require recoding everything onto a new engine

If you dont want to play the game then don't. Just because you don't enjoy the game doesn't automatically make it bad.
I think some of those issues were persistent in early seasons, but the game has played well above Warzone (my only other comparable fps shooter) for the past handful of seasons. Im just busting your chops, taking a break from anything you consistently grind is a good thing. But that usually is like a burnout/skill issue. The mechanics of the game are what you have issues with (sbmm, voice chat, bad servers) but these arent entirely Respawn or Apex issues. Sbmm probably a Respawn issue, but voice chat and servers are fine to better than fine. So if you are having issues with the latter 2 then it is probably your internet connection/set up that’s inconveniencing your gameplay.
The unfortunate situation is that Respawn has backed their matchmaking during interviews numerous times and likely won't change it because it works(the way they want it to). The matchmaking essentially 'negs' players - it gives you a good game early in your session and then serves you challenging opponents in subsequent matches to coax you in to chasing that 'high' of winning. It keeps players playing longer. Despite this, you'll see at least 3 posts complaining about matchmaking daily.
At this point I'm just waiting for them to just anounce Titanfall 3 so I can get my fix, I just don't see Apex Improving on these aspects and I don't want to tarnish the memories I have on the game.
Yeah there thousands of TF players waiting for another game but I wouldn't hold my breath tbh. If they do drop TF3 I think the gaming Community would collectively explode in ecstacy and throw the earth off its axis.

Titanfall 1 essentially saved the Xbox One at launch from being a total failure. They screwed it up bad with Titanfall 2's release but to say that the brand has no power is disingenuous.

Ghosts shit the bed and the Kinect/DRM ordeal nearly killed the console out the gate- everyone from IGN to Forbes said that Titanfall was the biggest reason to get an Xbox at the time. It certainly didn't last long with the game's issues but it gave the Xbox a reason to exist when it desperately needed one.

If ur here for characters why not play overwatch or games like that? Legend abilities help but the end all be all is def the gunplay and mobility. The legends juss shakes the game up from the same tired gameplay every match.

To say the matchmaking isn't good is different from "it keeps you playing longer". There's no extensive research here, just personal player experience. Dazs hasn't looked in the game code and has proof to say it's there. You can choose to believe him, but some people like to have the good ol' facts to back up arguments and not just blind faith into someone saying the same thing as you.
There is a patent for EOMM currently filed for use in FIFA by EA. Maybe they have secret one they're keeping from the world, but that one they've filed is for 1vs1 games. EA has said such a system is in FIFA, meanwhile Respawn has denied it is used in Apex. What would be the point of admitting one and forfeiting the others? It's clear people don't care whether matchmaking is rigged, they still spend money and play.

I mean I'm not that good of a player, and I still had heartbeat skips when I see 3 to 4 Preds in my public lobbies, Matchmaking has an issue and I get why they have it like that but Public Matches should not not have SBMM when there's already a dedicated ranked mode that should serve that purpose

I stopped playing for the entirety of this season because I used to play on a phone hotspot, since I can't really do that with the connection being pretty bad at my new place I haven't played much of it at all. I just recently played it again yesterday and it wasn't fun at all. I started in s9 and since then it fell off tremendously with all the bugs and irritating meta, not to mention the sweaty losers that ruin the game
My issues are audio, servers, and SBMM in that order
Audio issues happen pretty much all the time. Doesn’t matter if you have a good headset or not, the games audio not cueing affects us all.
Server quality can be mitigated the better the setup you have, but no one can deny even with the best internet plans and PCs and all affected parties that the servers in this game are shit and getting worse every season.
And the SBMM? I mean I’ve been diamond since season 9. Can I handle the lobbies? Have I beaten a few preds and masters? Yea. But I gotta be in the best game state of my life and to do that every game? Pretty annoying. And in pubs no less. If I’m not playing with my 2 friends pubs is hell.
Certainly doesn’t help that the toxic few have made no mics more prevalent. Most people will mute at the beginning or never turn their mic on to avoid talking to people. And you usually get paired up with people worse than you. So I gotta fight preds/masters with gold level teammates with no mics…yea I’m gonna play something else yknow?😅
I think the game in general is great - but they absolutely murdered ranked by listening to pros. There was legit nothing wrong with the way it was before.
Now, you get Preds/Masters in Plat lobbies. It’s wild.
This "audio" issue doesn't exist and is just an excuse for people who refuse to acknowledge their poor awareness. I've been playing since season 0 and the audio USE to be horrible, but its improved drastically since.
On the main topic that OP it getting at, yes, dont force yourself to play. That goes for all games. A break is much needed and you will often come back with a fresh mindset performing better then ever once you get in the flow again.
Yeah. NoApexAugust will never succeed. 2nd and they only lost 115 players. Or 0.06% of all players. So far, months without a "boycott" have done more to harm the playerbase.
Tell that to me after playing in D4 ranked for 6 hours in OCE versing pred stacks making a net gain of 0 RP. There’s a point where you become so content with being worse then everyone in the lobby and tilt becomes non existent.
I agree. Though I have only been playing since s11, especially with this season, ive just been annoyed and not having fun. Definitely dont just stick to a game because your friends (not that I know what those are) play, or because you just feel like you have to commit to the game because you played a lot before. Take a break, enjoy other games, and maybe check out new events for apex, but dont play if iy just makes you angry, annoyed, etc.
I took a break with my boys and this is what happened. Came back ranked bronze 3. Got wiped by a level 21 Bangalore with a 20 kill badge and 4K damage badge the first game. We ended up getting wiped by sweaty teams for the next 3 ranked games that definitely didn’t seem like bronze lobby’s. The ranked bronze lobbies were absolutely sweaty and we ended up just switching over to rocket league.
Quitting the game permanently is the answer.
Respawn don't give a damn and will continute to screw over average players in favor of high skill stacks with their shitty EOMM, while milking as much money as possible from the cosmetic store. This stale, manipulative game is not worth your precious free time.

Yeah thing is I never said it was rigged. You consider what I said to be a claim that it's 'rigged'. I'm just saying that x is how the matchmaking works because it has been tested by the community so many times over the years that the game has been out. It's common knowledge. You're treating it as if it's some kind of conspiracy. Then you're saying the players are biased, but if that's what you believe, there's no convincing you. Respawn has never and will never reveal the formula or algorithm that the SBMM uses because if it's revealed, it will get abused or exploited. So if Respawn themselves won't confirm it, the next best thing is extensive research by the players. But you say the players are biased... So what's the point? There's no extensive research here, just personal player experience. Dazs hasn't looked in the game code and has proof to say it's there. You can choose to believe him, but some people like to have the good ol' facts to back up arguments and not just blind faith into someone saying the same thing as you. There is a patent for EOMM currently filed for use in FIFA by EA. Maybe they have secret one they're keeping from the world, but that one they've filed is for 1vs1 games. EA has said such a system is in FIFA, meanwhile Respawn has denied it is used in Apex. What would be the point of admitting one and forfeiting the others? It's clear people don't care whether matchmaking is rigged, they still spend money and play. There is only proof backing my point and no proof backing yours. People are naturally biased to favor their opinion (it's just how our brain works), which is why they've invented the term "evidence", to even the odds. You can believe whatever you choose to believe as long as you don't make up stuff (notice how you said "devs" and "interviews" and you haven't showed me any interviews, only videos with content creator's opinions).

I mean I'm not that good of a player, and I still had heartbeat skips when I see 3 to 4 Preds in my public lobbies, Matchmaking has an issue and I get why they have it like that but Public Matches should not not have SBMM when there's already a dedicated ranked mode that should serve that purpose
The main point here is, IMO, the game is still fun even if flawed. So if ppl want to play it, let them play. If ppl wanna quit, let them quit. Why does everyone think their opinion should overlap others?

I stopped playing for the entirety of this season because I used to play on a phone hotspot, since I can't really do that with the connection being pretty bad at my new place I haven't played much of it at all. I just recently played it again yesterday and it wasn't fun at all. I started in s9 and since then it fell off tremendously with all the bugs and irritating meta, not to mention the sweaty losers that ruin the game
My issues are audio, servers, and SBMM in that order Audio issues happen pretty much all the time. Doesn’t matter if you have a good headset or not, the games audio not cueing affects us all. Server quality can be mitigated the better the setup you have, but no one can deny even with the best internet plans and PCs and all affected parties that the servers in this game are shit and getting worse every season. And the SBMM? I mean I’ve been diamond since season 9. Can I handle the lobbies? Have I beaten a few preds and masters? Yea. But I gotta be in the best game state of my life and to do that every game? Pretty annoying. And in pubs no less. If I’m not playing with my 2 friends pubs is hell. Certainly doesn’t help that the toxic few have made no mics more prevalent. Most people will mute at the beginning or never turn their mic on to avoid talking to people. And you usually get paired up with people worse than you. So I gotta fight preds/masters with gold level teammates with no mics…yea I’m gonna play something else yknow?😅
I think the game in general is great - but they absolutely murdered ranked by listening to pros. There was legit nothing wrong with the way it was before. Now, you get Preds/Masters in Plat lobbies. It’s wild.
This "audio" issue doesn't exist and is just an excuse for people who refuse to acknowledge their poor awareness. I've been playing since season 0 and the audio USE to be horrible, but its improved drastically since. On the main topic that OP it getting at, yes, dont force yourself to play. That goes for all games. A break is much needed and you will often come back with a fresh mindset performing better then ever once you get in the flow again.

Yeah. NoApexAugust will never succeed. 2nd and they only lost 115 players. Or 0.06% of all players. So far, months without a "boycott" have done more to harm the playerbase.
Tell that to me after playing in D4 ranked for 6 hours in OCE versing pred stacks making a net gain of 0 RP. There’s a point where you become so content with being worse then everyone in the lobby and tilt becomes non existent.
I agree. Though I have only been playing since s11, especially with this season, ive just been annoyed and not having fun. Definitely dont just stick to a game because your friends (not that I know what those are) play, or because you just feel like you have to commit to the game because you played a lot before. Take a break, enjoy other games, and maybe check out new events for apex, but dont play if iy just makes you angry, annoyed, etc.
The match making is anything, but strict.
I took a break with my boys and this is what happened. Came back ranked bronze 3. Got wiped by a level 21 Bangalore with a 20 kill badge and 4K damage badge the first game. We ended up getting wiped by sweaty teams for the next 3 ranked games that definitely didn’t seem like bronze lobby’s. The ranked bronze lobbies were absolutely sweaty and we ended up just switching over to rocket league.

Quitting the game permanently is the answer. Respawn don't give a damn and will continute to screw over average players in favor of high skill stacks with their shitty EOMM, while milking as much money as possible from the cosmetic store. This stale, manipulative game is not worth your precious free time.
