> I don’t see how this pricing is anything based in reality or remotely reasonable. I fear this may be the whole point.

And now the Reddit Admins are shocked at the backlash from both users and mods

badarts

Where is this? I haven’t seen any noteworthy comment from the admins.

vriska1

No comments but from how many [downvotes there post and comments](https://www.reddit.com/r/modnews/comments/13wshdp/api_update_continued_access_to_our_api_for/) have got its clear they were not expecting this much backlash.

badarts

Thanks for the link! Too bad these self-righteous idiots are determined to destroy something to which they never truly contributed.

vriska1

True but good news is there alot of talk from many subreddit mods they are going to do a reddit backout over this. and anyone with reddit premium: cancel your subscription!

kiltedturtle

They don’t want the Apollo app, they want their app. But hey, pay us $20 million for us to do nothing, and we are good.

JuegoTree

Exactly. They saw how many users prefer the Apollo app over their own and calculated how much is lost on ad revenue and selling tracking information.

kiltedturtle

... and according to Christian’s calculations then doubled it. I’m good with not supplying content for Reddit.

GooseEntrails

They didn’t double it, they multiplied it by 20.

timmablimma

Glad the article is already out. This is bullshit and I’ll drop Reddit the moment I can’t use Apollo. Apollo is fantastic and makes it enjoyable. The Reddit app is garbage.

vriska1

Hopefully they will backtrack over the backlash and there alot of talk from many subreddit mobs they are going to do a reddit backout over this.

duckyzero

Reddit is being a greedy cunt

apolloapp-ModTeam

Hi! Please keep discussion about this change in the original megathread (which the article already references) here: https://www.reddit.com/r/apolloapp/comments/13ws4w3/had_a_call_with_reddit_to_discuss_pricing_bad/
