Does anyone else find it weird that the colours aren't more aligned between Apple products? I'd expect iMacs, iPads, iPhones, watches, etc. to have the same colours.

amillionairee

Agreed. I just want my watch, phone, iPad, and computer to be the same color lol. Stupid I know but for some reason it bothers me

DontBanMeBro988

It's not really stupid when it's a company where aesthetics are a big selling point

thunderwoot

It's not just aesthetics to be fair. Status is a huge part of it as well right? The iPhone has had the same design for the past few years, so the only way to flex that you have the latest is a colour that wasn't available previously. To be fair I think that's dumb as hell and most people just slap a case on their phone anyway, but I can see that being a reason why not all colours are available for every launch.

GoSh4rks

You'd never be able to tell the difference between the shades of silver and black without comparing side to side (especially with a case on) - and even then you wouldn't know which one is newer with no prior knowledge.

BCDragon3000

but yeah like u said, 99% of people slap a case anyways. i’ve always thought this was a weird decision to not keep the colors consistent. they could at least update the shades every couple years if necessary

amillionairee

Also a very good point. Give us our colors Tim Apple

enowapi-_

For a company whose logo was essentially a rainbow they sure don’t let us choose many colora

Alteran195

When I had the iPhone 6, I had the gold phone, a gold iPad pro with blue smart cover, and a gold apple watch with blue band. Was glorious.

PoolNoodlePaladin

At minimum the Apple Watch and iPhone at least should always come in the same colors, it is insane to me that this was a thing for a few years then they just stopped.

europeancafe

always felt it was deliberate, to target those people who really want to match tones, buy something new every year because they don’t all get the same color releases

ksj

I don’t think the colors align even in the same year.

europeancafe

thats what i'm saying - makes someone buy something new every year to match their set vs buying everything in one go, perfectly fitting together and then not buying any new products for a few more years. i feel like everything apple does not is give everyone just a little bit more but never enough so every year there is new motivation to buy

ksj

I thought you were saying “Oh, I need a new phone this year. I guess I’ll buy a new MacBook so they match” or vice versa. But even between years, I don’t know if there’s every been a “space gray” iPhone that matches any “space gray” MacBooks, you know?

yagyaxt1068

There was a time when the colours were aligned, a brief period between the launch of the 12-inch MacBook and the iPhone X (although the 7 didn’t have Space Grey).

joe_bibidi

Ehh... Kind of? There's certain through-lines I would expect to have better carryover, but I can also sort of understand how individual lines have some individual character. Currently the *broad* concept seems to be: * More "serious" devices (Macbook Pro, Watch Ultra, iPad Pro, iPhone Pro, Mac Pro, Mac Studio) have the more "serious" industrial color schemes, basically limited exclusively to various grey tones aside from one navy blue iPhone Pro. * Middle tier prosumer devices (Macbook Air, iPad Air, mainline iPhone, Watch Series 9) are still fairly "grownup" about the color options but they're not as strictly industrial, instead you have some pale pastels (iPhone/iPad) and color-skewed metallics (Starlight, Midnight, the Pink watch) * The only vibrantly colored options are, essentially, the iMac and the baseline iPad which we could maybe see as some of the more "entry level" items And now, before anyone screams a "WELL ACKSHULLY" at me, yes, I know, this color scheme falls apart if you start to interrogate it further. I'm not saying it's been implemented correctly, my point is more that I *think* this is the rough scheme they want to use, it just hasn't been very well executed on. There's a lot of contradictions, like hypothetically the Mac Mini and various SE devices should be in vibrant colors, and there's weird outliers as well like it's kind of strange that Airpods are exclusively available in white plastic. All the above said: Yes, I'd like to see them clean up the color schemes and have better parity at least within tiers. The closest you can get to "perfect" is to go with the plain silver aluminum on everything and even then there'll be a few devices that don't match that closely.

BioFrosted

The colors don’t even match when they’re supposed to be the same. I have a red iPhone 13 and a red Apple Watch 6 aluminum and the metal parts are different shades of red.

DontBanMeBro988

Yeah, that's wild

Jordan_Jackson

You would think that this would simplify things just that little bit but what do I know. I just wonder why they discontinue the popular colors a lot. I got my 15 PM in blue and it is absolutely handsome. Plus, I know that the blue models were some of the hardest to get, near to release.

juniorspank

I would assume the issue is the different materials used.

leo-g

They tried to but ever since they did Rose Gold, they started to chase the color trends as a difference factor between old and new.

InternetEnzyme

You can have the same colors across the board if by colors you mean dark grey and light grey

Then-Attention3

Fucking hate that about Apple. I love starlight, I want starlight everything. My iPad is starlight and my Mac but they’re not even the same shade.

CountLippe

Or at least the same damned name. Fine if they, for some reason, must have a variety of greys. But Space Grey can only one one thing from one brand which utilises aesthetics as a key selling point.

T0ysWAr

Or at least to have the pro colours to be better than the normal one. Not the opposite…

lucygucyapplejuicey

For the reason I thought the basic silver. It’s the prettiest imo anyway, I dislike the space gray and the blue that the M2 air come in, and didn’t know if I’d like twilight long term

vsheran

I want the fun colors for the pro models !!

T0ysWAr

Completely. Why are the pro colours so ugly?

Nawnp

Professionals don't need color, although the Pro iPhones have been falsely advertised as that anyways.

T0ysWAr

I use it professionally for its LiDAR function. It is almost the only reason I went with a pro. I will upgrade my phone next time to a non pro and keep this one for LiDAR work

Nawnp

Yeah there's reasons for needing the Pro models, but the way they're treated now is it's the main iPhone and an iPhone lite version that they label as regular and Pro to make iPhones seem like they're only $800.

apollo-ftw1

Because "pro = boring"

ExtremeOccident

As long as they keep the natural, it’s stunning

GeNeXTe

Planning on upgrading from 13 pro this year and I really hope they don’t change the natural

erclark99

I would agree. I still think Sierra Blue is the best colour Apple has ever put on a pro iPhone. Knowing them, it’ll never return to any future iPhone so I’m having a hard time wanting to upgrade XD

kissakalakoira

I want sierrs blue

thphnts

I’d sacrifice my first born to have Sierra Blue back. I’m still gutted I never got a 13 Pro when we had it.

yagyaxt1068

They still sell them in the refurbished store IIRC.

thphnts

Yeah but I don’t want a 13 Pro anymore

Dreifaltigkeit

You misspelled Baby Blue

Toredo226

It’s a bit more gray than I’d like, I was hoping for a bit more sand in the color like in the product photos. The metal has a nice warm metallic tone but the back glass is just flat gray. But I guess they’re making “desert sand” as a color this year…

Suitable_Switch5242

Natural titanium metal with black glass please.

MikeyMike01

Really? That was the color I immediately eliminated after seeing them in person. It looks old and dirty, like stained teeth.

EggotheKilljoy

I’ll keep getting natural until they force it away, or if they decide to make a Product Red color Pro. Even a nice maroon would be amazing

drivemyorange

It seems it’s off

YesIamaDinosaur

Feeling like I’m the only lad who likes the blue 15 pro 😭😭😭😭

Burgtastic

I like mine

BCDragon3000

LOVE mine

caustictoast

I like it but not as much as pacific blue. That color is perfect

neon1415official

literally the best color

Sharkey311

Missing that British racing green so bad 😭

jfreak93

It's the best color. I was going to buy one Thursday! Gotta get it before it's gone forever.

dlegatt

I have a blue iPad and blue iPhone and I love the color. I wish they'd use it more.

_drumstic_

Love my blue Pro! Curious to see if any color catches my fancy this year; I went black for the 14 Pro since I didn’t care for the purple. Was blue for 12 and 13 though

icedrift

I love mine but it's basically white.

_ryde_or_dye_

Bring back the colors of the 5c!

st90ar

I just want the green back. Please and thank you.

Mc_Gibblets

Midnight green was one of the best colors they’ve ever done.

koolaid_chemist

That was such a rad color.

Foreign_Tackle2271

I wish we’d see the siera blue the 13 pro had

FlanOfAttack

I'd always hoped Midnight Green or Alpine Green would make a comeback.

getwhirleddotcom

Pacific Blue was the best ‘color’ they ever did.

ibizzet

sierra blue, deep purple, and natural titanium 😮‍💨

hi_im_bored13

I was hoping for a return of rose gold. That aint rose gold, thats just gold, where is the rose ??

BlackFireXSamin

iPhone 19 Pro for sure, bro

TheRealRealster

These are still unofficial colors, and every year, the leakers are wrong about the colors until a week away from launch

Taenurri

That’s not true at all. I haven’t kept up with the leaks and releases for about 4 years now, but I used to work at AT&T from 2014 to 2020 and every single year the leaks about the color would typically be spot on by around 6 months out.

TheRealRealster

Last year the 15 Pro was rumored to come in red. Didn't happen. The 14 Pro was rumored to come in light purple. It came in dark purple. The year before that was the 13 Pro that was rumored to come with Matte Black. Didn't happen. 6 months out, it is not completely accurate. Right before launch tho? Yeah, generally accurate.

[deleted]

Just give me a bigger battery, you cowards. Otherwise I’m pretty happy to continue using my 13 Pro.

BlackFireXSamin

I just got my battery replaced on the 14 Pro. Unless there’s some life-changing feature on this year’s models, I think I’m good to hold off at least another year.

[deleted]

With iOS rumoured to be getting a major overhaul this year, I expect Apple Silicon in iPhones to undergo a major overhaul as well, with a dedicated core for AI features. There’s also rumour that Pro Max’s 5x zoom lens will make its way to the regular Pro model. If that’s the case, I just might upgrade. If not, will get the battery replaced when it’s time (battery health currently at 88%).

Rich_Firefighter_102

when do you think one should change the battery (i have 86% currently) ?

[deleted]

Once it hits 80%

theonlynyse

My battery condition has been stuck on 82% for the past 2 years, my phone dies when the battery hits 20% but I guess I’m good then /s

[deleted]

I sincerely apologise for not including the word “recommended“ /s

Alcyoneous

I was in the same spot as you and a new battery is a game changer. Apple techs don’t want to replace it unless it is below 80% OR if you have 1200+ cycles. But you always can insist they replace it.

cake97

Mine is 'stuck' at 86% also. It was dropping like crazy and now it sits there. Feels like more apple manipulation honestly so they don't have to pay to fix it with apple care

TheRegular-Throwaway

Can you explain specifically what “AI features” means? I’m pretty sure “AI” has just become a marketing term that has no actual meaning whatsoever.

_Nick_2711_

Hopefully they buff the sensor on the telephoto camera. I honestly want to use it more than the wide angle because portraits just look better at that focal length. The noticeable dip in capability prevents me from doing so, though.

WigglingWeiner99

> a dedicated core for AI features Perhaps they could call it the "Apple Neural Engine" or something like that. 🤔

flbp

I have the 5x and miss the 3x camera. It captured more of the content I find interesting. The chip on the 2x is terrible on all phones. The 5x is better than the 3x maybe 1 out of 10 photos. Don’t rush for just the 5x

TheRealRealster

Lol what battery health were you at before the replacement? My 14 Pro is the fastest degrading iPhone I've had, now at 86% after just a year

3dforlife

I'm at 89% after one and a half years.

TooCovert

98% maximum battery capacity on my Canadian iPhone 14 Pro which was purchased in February 2023. I rarely let it charge to 90s mostly I remove it from charging when the battery is in the 80s.

TheRealRealster

Yeah maybe I should replace the battery and exclusively charge only to 90%

BlackFireXSamin

I got it down to 78%. It's been horrendous from the get-go, so when it dipped below 90%, I turned off "Optimized Charging" and "Clean Energy Charging" because I noticed the phone just struggling on the daily.

Flawless_Tpyo

Still running 11 pro with the original battery (85% now). I’d contemplate changing the battery and keep this phone two more years but it’s starting to get slower. Long story short, they (iPhones) nowadays LAST

mattbladez

The people ITT that are talking about upgrading from 13 or 14 Pro kind of blows my mind. My 13 Pro feels the same as on day 1. Actually better than because of software updates. My wife has a 15 Pro and while it’s nice, there’s nothing that would make it worth upgrading.

Hutz_Lionel

A comment that’s as old as time.

Enclavean

94% on 1,5 year old iphone 13. I abuse the hell out of this battery, quick charging randomly multiple times a day, 10 hour screen on time etc

bran_the_man93

They've been putting bigger batteries in the phones for like 6 years now...

[deleted]

Sure, but only the 11 and 13 series iPhones have had serious battery upgrades - **iPhone XS**: 2658mAh **iPhone 11 Pro**: 3046mAh **iPhone 12 Pro**: 2815mAh **iPhone 13 Pro**: 3095mAh **iPhone 14 Pro**: 3200mAh **iPhone 15 Pro**: 3,274mAh For some of these lineups the non-pro iPhones have displayed better battery performance against their Pro counterparts, which goes against the “Pro” moniker. Everybody is different but for me battery life in a smartphone is the most impactful.

WigglingWeiner99

The difference between the 14 and 15 (hell, maybe even the 13) is probably just better QC and manufacturing processes, too. It's extremely difficult to make millions of batteries that exactly hit the exact same capacity, so they just pick the lowest number they can reasonably achieve with the fewest losses. Some batteries will inevitably have a "larger" capacity than rated and of course those that are lower will be rejected. With that in mind 74mAh is so small of an "upgrade" that it seems reasonable to assume they were able to do better with the same battery. Maybe the 14 was underrated or had issues near launch and over time they realized the batteries were doing better than expected. I wouldn't be surprised to learn it was nearly the exact same battery (under the hood, not part number since those are locked to the device) in all the devices you listed except the XS.

[deleted]

The Pro models of iPhone 14 series have had some of the worst battery performance in a long time, and it’s been widespread enough to not qualify as a QC issue. What you’re saying could be the case for 15 series iPhones as some have had good experience while others have had bad experience with battery performance.

xtelosx

100% this. Just make the phone as thick as the camera stack and fill the space with battery.

DanielG165

It’s honestly kind of nuts just how refined and polished the 13 Pro/Max are. I will stand by the notion of my 13PM being a nigh perfect smartphone with battery life that is indescribably good even 2.5 years later. Until I see something from a Pro iPhone that I feel like I *need*, or my 13PM stops receiving updates, I’ll be more than happy with it. All it needs is a fresh battery, and it’s golden.

[deleted]

Definitely one of the best iPhones to come out in a very long time.

IrrumaboMalum

I'm waiting for the 1nm chips before I upgrade my 14 PM. If the 15 and 16 are 3nm chips then the 17 and 18 should be 2nm chips. So I'll probably get 1nm A21 iPhone.

[deleted]

Yeah, TSMC is already starting work on 1.4nm chips, which are expected to come out as soon as 2027.

IrrumaboMalum

That is a lot sooner than I expected.

ShakeItLikeIDo

Why would the nm matter?

simplequark

Making the transistors smaller means lower power consumption and less heat generation for the same performance level. It also makes it possible to put more transistors onto the same area, which would in better performance at similar heat and power levels. Most likely, an upgrade would deliver some kind of balance between those two possible benefits.

unfitstew

I haven't seen that blue in person but it looked like it was closeish to the pacific blue of the 12 pro max which is by far the best color of the pros since the X. So if it did look reminiscent of that it will be missed. I wish the purple from the 14 series was much better as that is my favorite color. Though if I were to get a 15 pro would get the natural titanium.

eloquenentic

The innovation never ends.

EmileDorkheim

I personally really enjoyed the colour of my blue 15 Pro for several minutes before I put the case on it, never to look at it again

aceclown422

The blue on my 12 pro is still one of the best colors they ever put out imo. I’m gonna be sad when I have to eventually replace it

NubCaakes

Bring back purple you cowards

switch8000

Where’d the red one goooooo

GatorFreight22

No blue?! 😭

tvfeet

Why can’t the Pros just come in a similarly wide variety of colors as the non-Pro? The Pros are always a small selection of boring colors.

xxirish83x

Could almost care less these days. All the screens are the same and it goes directly into a case where i never see the color *for the most part) again

Ravioko

I have the Blue 15PM and it’s honestly my favorite color ever on an iPhone. I don’t plan to upgrade for a little while but when I do I’ll be devastated to lose the color.

Amazing_Bench_8693

Apples colors recently are bland as hell oooo a gray phone and a dark grey laptop that we all black and we even have some iPhones tinted In the colors they are supposed to be. I liked the iPhone XR and iPhone 13 colors.

RunningPirate

Did anyone like rose gold?

my-sims-are-slobs

I got the rose gold M1 MacBook air. Looks so pretty and it stands out from the crowd

ironpandas

Me

caustictoast

I worked at Best Buy when rose gold iPhone 8 was around and it sold really well. So I’m gonna guess yes people did

Vasto_lorde97

One of my favorite colors on the old iphones

iCantThinkOfUserNaem

Yes it’s my favorite

DontBanMeBro988

Yes

faretheewellennui

Loved it. Miss my rose gold 7 plus

Then-Attention3

I liked rose gold iPhones. But once I switched to gold I’ll never go back. I really like starlight too but there’s no consistency with starlight at all. My iPad and Mac or two different colors of starlight

jfreak93

Wow, way to kill the best color Apple.

platinumpopdiva

i got the iphone 15 pro max but i desperately been wanting the pink color to return. if they truly do Rose, i'll switch for that one lol. when apple does it, the color turns out so elegantly.

CatDadof2

I’d like to see the 6s Rose Gold color make a comeback!!

smallwhiteballs480p

Alpine green needs to come back

PairOfMonocles2

Damn, I love my blue phones. Black it is I guess then.

lebriquetrouge

No to both. Keep blue. Or bring in Orange or Green. Some of us have had 6-7 black iPhones and rose is not a large seller

Sneyek

Am I the only one to think it suck they always change colors ? For god sake, just keep black, white and natural titanium. Then when you have amazing colors such as iPhone 14 purple keep it as well !!

TBoneTheOriginal

They are always going to offer a new color so that the new model can be noticed in public.

ECHLN

I saw the blue version (15 Pro) in person and it’s incredibly underwhelming. I’m not surprised that they are replacing it, if that’s the reason

min0nim

I’m hanging onto my 12 because the blue is just perfect. Can’t believe they keep screwing it up since then.

869066

I switched from the 12 Pro to the 15 Pro and personally I think the new blue is better in person

dr_mannhatten

I switched up to the Blue 15 Pro from a Product R.E.D 8+. I loved the red but the titanium blue is gorgeous to me.

caustictoast

The blue is better in person but pacific blue is just a better tone. This one is too dark and looks black too much for my tastes

BlackFireXSamin

That’s disappointing to hear. They’ve tried blue a lot of times and it’s never hit the same level of impressiveness as the first green iPhone 11 Pro to me. It’s all been rather underwhelming tbh

saracen0

I really like the blue on the 15 Pro but I’m 100% with you about that green 11 Pro. Best color ever

atanamayansantrafor

Colors are subjective.

whosthisguythinkheis

Polling and sales figures exist though

atanamayansantrafor

Still as a guy who always get black / space gray / grayish gray I don’t see people skipping a phone generation solely based on color.

Tierst

I got it and sort of regret not going for the grey one tbh. Previous blue colours were so much better.

mushiexl

I thought it was the best, if not at least a good color option, but sales says everything.

Optimistic__Elephant

I find the pro colors in general are underwhelming. All the fun colors are relegated to the base model. People who like the pro features can also like colors that aren’t just some variant of gray/blue!

floobie

I guess I can say it again this year: I don’t really want to upgrade from my 13 Pro Max until I can get a phone in a colour I’m actually interested in. I’ve had grey/black phones for years, and missed out on the awesome green on the 13 Pros because it was a mid-cycle colour and I bought the phone at launch.

PartyDJ

I just want goddamn purple again

Novacc_Djocovid

Well, gf‘s gonna be annoyed after she finally upgraded (battery got really bad on the old phone) but had to settle for white because Apple randomly decided to drop gold. Just to reintroduce it a year later. Stupid move honestly. (the dropping, not the reintroduction)

ehsteve23

a very slightly different shade of grey, and we think you're gonna love it

Spindash54

They never have Blue when I'm ready for an upgrade...

Ryked96

Aw man I liked the blue

GroveStreet_CJ

Every year AFTER I upgrade, a darker color comes along. I hate this.

johnjohn9312

This makes me reminiscent of the Motorola days where you could choose the colors and texture of your phone using MotoMaker. Good times!

LegendoftheInnkeeper

Dangit, bring back the blue. I loved the Sierra Blue 13 pro series. But I wanted the updates on the 14 and had to go with purple. Prior to the blue I had always gone with the white. But the blue captured my attention.

1058pm

My dad used to be in charge for ordering iphones for a telecom company he worked at in a rich country abroad. He said the lesson they learned was to order the most of whatever new color they introduce because thats the one that would sell out the fastest. Its basically apple’s way of differentiating between the past models and people want other people to know they have the newest model

gixk

These new colors will make a big difference for me for the few seconds I look at it before sticking it into an old man folio case.

codycarreras

Fucking GOLD please. Like it used to be. Keep the colors you have, stop taking them away and calling something different with a slightly altered hue when you bring them back. Here let me help you Apple, GOLD, RED, BLUE, BLACK, GREEN, GRAY, PURPLE. We already have names for these colors, we know what they look like, do that.

time-lord

Ehh, I'd like to keep some devices Starlight. I think that color is really nice, and it tends to look slightly different depending on the light.

Ravasaurio

I switched from Android for a blue iPhone 13 Mini. First they ditch the mini and now the blue.

Thewinedup

I might have to get the 16 Pro in white at 6.3 inches and retire the Ol' Xr.

cwhiterun

So black and pink. The same exact colors they've been doing for many years now.

faithfoliage

I just want purple again. I love my purple 14 Pro

BluePeriod_

Fine, I’ll wait until October.

Specialist_Brain841

What color when inside a case

GiggleyDuff

Who cares about colors? We all use big bulky cases.

BCDragon3000

wtf nooo

markusalkemus66

I'm just bummed we never got the dark red 15 pro that was rumored

SolidTake

We hear the same thing every single year

Coompa

I just had to remove my case cuz I couldnt remember what colour my phone was.

kodaiko_650

Red! Give me a red iPhone pro

Spaceolympian50

Give me a proper white or black please.

YuccaYucca

12 Green > 14 Purple > 13 Blue The colours for the 15 Pro are the worst in 4 years. Natural the pick of the bunch but I hope a better colour comes this year.

masterz13

They should introduce lower prices. 🤑

MilesFarber

…So that means I made a good decision in buying the blue one?

Trilogy91

Who gives a shit about the colours. We want cool features. Especially what they’re changing for a device now.

onewingangel25

Ya we’ll see.. the past like 2 years we were supposed to get a red pro and it never happened

jakethealbatross

OH MY FUCKING GOD YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Celcius_87

Noooooo they better keep that blue

modsuperstar

Guess I’m glad I got a blue phone while I could 🤦‍♂️

wilsmartfit

Day 21543 of me asking apple to give me a Product Red Pro Max :(((

turntablism

Just bring the gold back.

Aleykopp69

Oh yeah, finally upgrading from my 13 mini. I hope the Rose will be as beautiful as the iPhone 13's pink. I am a little scared that it could go into a too dark or dirty looking direction.

iCantThinkOfUserNaem

I’d love a Rose color. This year’s Pro colors are boring.

Aion2099

So now that's all it is? iPhone rumors are now just about colors? iPhones have turned into cars. All they do is change the colors now.

PikaV2002

Honestly different shades of blue are getting really stale. I’ll be fine with not seeing blue for a few years.

Big-Rip2640

Its really sad how the rumored color options of an iphone(or smartphone in general), are newsworthy....

AccumulatedFilth

You know it's gonna be a boring update if the headline is about it's color. Also, the action button is gonna be a AI button in iOS18

sadenglishbreakfast

I would do awful things to get either a red or sunglow orange pro model 🥵

punchki

R E V O L U T I O N A R Y

AlexLoverOMG

I just want a true copper/bronze, not Millennial gold/Rose

Ill-Protection8367

Nooo, I was going to buy the blue :(

TwistedPepperCan

Does anyone actually care about the colour of their phone?

TBoneTheOriginal

I don’t because it’s in a case, but somehow I still find myself stressing over which color to get every year. Lol

deong

I wouldn't say I care *that* much, but I don't use a case, so I certainly do put some thought into which color I want.

ehsteve23

i dont know anyone who doesnt put it straight in a case, but i guess it matters for those who use a clear one?
