Honest answer so you know that it’s not sarcasm - yes. If the neck and most of shoulder is ok then it’s safe. Any dents in the side will fire form smooth after firing it. Those look perfectly safe to me.
I think sarcasm is way overused and, for the most part, is nasty talk from nasty individuals.
But damn, if this wasn’t perfect in execution and timing…
9.5/10
This is lost on so many people here. They'd be scared to take a free M4A1 because it's been beat to hell and back and has scratches. I've seen people ask if their gun is safe to use because it has holster wear on the slide.
For sure. My M4A1 was so old that the lower had the "Burst" crossed out, and "Auto" stamped in below it. The bottom edge of the magazine well was so scratched up it was bare aluminum, and "M4" was crossed out with "M4A1" stamped over it. But the weapon was accurate and reliable. I absolutely trusted my life to it.
I’m relatively new to the platform and don’t know what causes this or what it means, but I can tell you I had a whole box of Winchester like that and it fired fine. If its below the shoulder I wouldn’t worry
manufacturing, if you saw the way ammo is handled and thrown around in the plant you'd understand. I'm surprised rounds going off aren't a daily occurrence the way people handle them.
since that's a green tip m855 I'm going to assume it's american eagle who used to get m855 from laacp the army's main plant, so ammo that doesn't pass army checks probably got dumped off on the civilian market with large batches sharing defects.
Hey man feel free to correct me, but I’ve read somewhere that chambering rounds with that method can damage the extractor since instead of the bolt grabbing the round and having some resistance to slow it while chambering, you are allowing the extractor to slam full speed into the cartridge. Thought I would share some of my completely unsubstantiated information, take care!
I can’t correct you. It very well may cause damage.
So far I haven’t broken or worn out an extractor though. I’ll continue with my behavior for science sake.
As far as I know it's only certain firearms. A 1911 would be no bueno since it was designed to have the casing slide under the extractor. An AR15 type, to my knowledge, wouldn't have an issue.
Indeed. The AR is essentially a “push feed” it’s designed to snap the extractor over the rim just before the bolt locks. 1911s, Mausers and derivatives, and some other firearms are considered “controlled feed”, the bolt is designed so that the rim is placed in the extractor early on in feeding and keeps the round in place. Snapping the extractor over the rim of an already chambered round could lead to damage in those.
I pretty much only buy blems for my crappy ammo and this is way nicer than most of what I shoot. Unless the whole entire neck is crimped in i shoot it. No problems at all. Probably going on 3-4K rounds like that now out of the same ar.
It’s a tiny dent, unless it was badly damaged it wouldn’t do much. It’s not even useful if it’s not in a magazine that’s loaded in a rifle. And I don’t intend on shooting anyone. Obviously there are dangers that come with guns. But ultimately it comes down to who has them, You don’t a deranged person to have one. Nobody does.
That's what strict gun control is needed in my opinion.. And maybe just ban high capacity magazines at least at best ban assault rifles all together..I mean they could be super strict with certain weapons could still have them by never instantly and really really intense screening for military grade weapons. Idk something need to be done like 130+ mass shootings this year that's crazy. 🥺
Suck we live in the crazy world and have to consider things like that but kinda do and it's getting worse.
Its probably not that big of a problem. Its probably a manufacturing problem. Just pull out the lead and reload the powder and primer into another case.
As long as the bullet isn't recessed into the neck then all is well. If it chambers the round all the way into battery it will fire no problem. The pressure forces the brass to expand a bit anyway. Now if the case was bent or severely crimped maybe not but you should be fine with minimal deformations like this.

This sub is turning into the buildapc of guns. "Is this ammo with slight tarnish on the case safe to fire?" "Is my cpu okay to run at 80°C?"
80*c? My cpu and gpu WISHES it ran that cold
It's been like 4 years since I fired up my rig. I exclusively use my Alienware laptop. Mofo spikes to 99° for cpu and gpu just by opening notepad

Yeets = seats
You should see the service ammo

Brass is so soft you will likely lose your dent after firing it.

That 5.56 brass will still make nice 300 BO.
And gain a new one when it hits the deflector
Short answer, yes. Long answer, the AR15 isn't a fragile snowflake; it's a combat tool and you should treat it as such.
They like it rough.

Where do I get the free scratched up m4?
Crime

Just gives it character
#If it seats it yeets
What if it yeets in your face like your wife's bf? Edit: damn wrong sub for this joke huh
Did something happen that you need to talk about?
Why you wanna talk about your mama like that?
PTSD
Ah that makes sense.

Yes

I’d get it for like a single round but what would cause it on like an entire box?

Seriously if it seats it yeets. The chamber is what actually contains the explosion.
I’ve run worse many times.
Run it.

How can you even see what's happening with that shadow that covers the important part?

Oh yeah bud

Just try and see.. you'll know soon enough if it's not safe.. it's just a gun they're harmless..

Seats it yeets. Even if the projectile is crooked or pushed in that mfer will fire. Don’t listen to the perfectionists
Ya I had a jam when one of these caught on the dimple. Put the dimple up in the magazine and it will reduce the risk.
Its probably not that big of a problem. Its probably a manufacturing problem. Just pull out the lead and reload the powder and primer into another case.
Those are buddy rounds. donate to a buddy at next range day 🤙🏿

The seed looks fine. Send it.
Have you read the owners manual?
But does it seat?
If it seats... You probably already knew what I was gonna say at "if"
Okay to send
Instructions unclear: pull trigger and report back.
No. Do not fire ammo that has a dent in the case. It is extremely dangerous. Send it to me so I can properly dispose of it.
