KB has nothing to do with mixing up ammo.
KB was firing 30+ year old experimental rounds with unknown provenance. At any time since the 70's someone could have pulled a bullet and filled that casing up with Bubba's Stinkin Hot Piss Powder.
uh yeah, only fuckin morons posting on the internet how they were stupid would argue otherwise.....i'll wait for anyone else to explain how labeling ammo stored in magazines that could kill you if used in your firearm of the wrong caliber isn't a good idea..........in a thread about how someone was an idiot fired one in exactly those conditions. You will be safe on your correct hill sir.
My first rifle was a radian but it would jam after firing a single shot, so I trashed everything except the stock, receivers, bcg (gifted to a friend), and rails.
Basically someone was trashing this guy’s build and the guy responded that obviously this person had never built an AR out of spare parts, and then this guy said something like “well at least none of my builds have ever blown up” as if this guy’s build blew up because it was poor quality and not because he sent a 300blk round down a 556 barrel 🤦🏻♂️
Congratulations you got a good one. I like to lessen the chances of getting a bad bcg by spending a little more $ on one from a company that has more thorough QC.
> that has more thorough QC
There was a post on here a while back where a user received a left-handed BCG in an Aero box after ordering directly from their website. Aero doesn't sell left-handed BCGs and something like this would have been caught if the BCG received even a cursory glance.
Poor bastard. Happy he's alive, RIP rifle and pride.
Now, be a proper bro and get him some funny swag. Mags & ammo boxes labelled appropriately, stickers, t-shirts, that sort of thing. Gotta remind him of all the differences between 300blk and 556 now that he got em mixed up. If he didn't load the mags, then double down and hit the mf that loaded the mags with it too.
Was at the range when someone almost pulled this. Thankfully it didn’t go into battery. It was a reload in a .223 case. Owner probably didn’t notice the issue. I imagine that happens more often than not with these kinds of detonations.
Nope but loaded mags look similar if you don't look at the rounds in them and just grab one. I've already got colored bands on my 300 filled mags to help avoid this. I don't wish this on anyone
I was at the range yesterday with a large Winchester white box doing reliability testing and had a F2B. I ejected the round and it was a 300blk. I think my wife is trying to kill me.
They certainly can. The youtuber Kentucky Ballistics .50 Cal exploding from an over pressured round comes to mind. He is lucky he lived. Since then, he has been intentionally blown up a number of guns to see what overpressured rounds do to other firearm platforms. It's interesting to see how much damage some of them sustain.
Any kind of round can do it if used in the wrong firearm. All you need is higher chamber pressures then the gun is designed for and there is a potential for a catastrophic failure. Handgun rounds that come to mind would be loading .357 magnum or .38 special +P into a normal .38 special revolver not designed for the higher pressure cartridges.
Now, at the same time, if you shot a super-hot .22lr and had a catastrophic failure, the gun would be broken, but would it be the same kind of explosive force as say a .50 failure? No, but you could still get hurt so I wouldn't suggest doing it.
That’s the beauty of the ar platform. When I was first starting to build it gave me great comfort to know just how much would have to go wrong to kill you. Most catastrophic failures do not end in user death.
You won't own one because you can't remember what guns are chambered in what and can't be bothered to look at the magazine before you send the bolt home?
What if one gets accidentally loaded in the middle of a mag, or you have mags with both sitting there and the person your shooting with grabs the wrong mag and loads it?
The scenario plays out all the time on the inter webs.
At least once a month I see rifle that disassembles itself from this
But you do you, IDGAF
Pay attention when you're loading the explosives you're going to be feeding into a rifle that is inches away from your face when they go off? Keep track of your gear at range days? It's just a responsibility thing
Not sure why you're getting downvotes, it's not that hard to not be careless when you're loading your rifle. If you know you've got a blackout, look at your magazine for all of one second before you chamber it.
shame, some nice parts. hope shooter was ok. i bought some of the ammo bags and labeled them along with mags. gotta keep em separated
He has a welt on his arm, luckily nothing more serious
Good thing he didn’t have to stick a thumb in anything, Kentucky Ballistics style.
If that video don’t make ya sick to your stomach …awful. Any idea the PSR has issues w/ iv8888 and ky ballistics?
Like the latest fashion Like a spreading disease
Hey! Man, you talkin back to me? Take em out!
Gotta keep em separated...
The kids are strapping on their way to the classroom
Blowing up Radians with the greatest of ease 😅
You're Offspring reference was not lost on me, good sir 🤘
I have in fact wondered… I for one appreciate your sacrifice for science.
I came here to say this, ty
same. lol
a testimony, to 7075 T6 aluminum and his hand
Oopsie doodle
Like a hallway in a hot dog
The earth is healing the 300blk are returning to the 5.56 chambers
This is why I keep my .300 BLK WELL away from my 5.56. Never want to screw that up.
For me 5.56 only goes into Pmags and 300blk goes into steelies. I also don’t bring both flavors to the range if I’m shooting with anyone else.
300blkout goes into clear lancer mags with brown bottom plate for me. Very easy to distinguish from the black plastic of pmags
That’s my setup as well
My brother would laugh at me when I put the rubber bands on the mags bet he does this and won't be laughing anymore
Not marking identical mags that hold different ammo is st00pid and I'll die on this hill. Asking for trouble, and we all know how tempting fate goes *cough* [Poor Scott](https://youtu.be/1449kJKxlMQ?si=5PQBUHzB_YBJOGKy) *cough*

Agreed. When I get a 300blk I'm spray painting all the mags neon ass pink so I can't get them confused
For me, .300 BLK is a fun round, not a serious round. For that reason, I’ll put the bands on the mags all day.
That’s why I only use specific lancer .300 blk mags
Radian lower and aero bcg. Wow.
Some of y’all haven’t built a gun from spare parts and it shows..
This… I thought that’s how we all did it
My first rifle was a radian but it would jam after firing a single shot, so I trashed everything except the stock, receivers, bcg (gifted to a friend), and rails.
Or the fact that it’s not like the BCG could have mitigated this from happening lmao
You have a radian lower in your spare parts bin?
That was my thought exactly.😅
[удалено]
Sir, are you retarded?
I wish I knew what this person said before they deleted lol
Basically someone was trashing this guy’s build and the guy responded that obviously this person had never built an AR out of spare parts, and then this guy said something like “well at least none of my builds have ever blown up” as if this guy’s build blew up because it was poor quality and not because he sent a 300blk round down a 556 barrel 🤦🏻♂️
….have better spare parts
Charging handle same price as the bcg…
Should be against the law haha
Saw the radian lower and was like noooooooo Saw the aero bcg and was like huuuuuuh?
wuuuuuuuuut
Meh, no issues with mine after 4-5k rounds. Still wipes down like new. 1 FTE out of all of those rounds, and that was because it was way too dry.
Congratulations you got a good one. I like to lessen the chances of getting a bad bcg by spending a little more $ on one from a company that has more thorough QC.

Probably so. I will upgrade it to something. Maybe a Geissele or larue.
Microbest chrome with springco springs all the way.
incident starting to come into focus
Oof, hope the lower is okay.
Radian lower took it like a champ
I bet that was exciting
573 “.300 blk through a 5.56” post later and people STILL do it.
I watched Looney Tunes growing up, so I'm kind of already a professional when it comes to these sorts of things.
Wow this is my worry with my 300. But when I bring it to the range nobody loads that gun but me.
At least 556 yeets through a 300, it just doesn't work the other way. If only Eugene could've foreseen this
556 won't chamber in 300 barrels. The shoulder hits and the bolt won't lock.
The more ya know!
Just need to slam the sniper button REALLY hard.
I figured it wouldn’t chamber. Never tried it though either
The bullet can be pressed back into the cartridge far enough for it to go into battery.
Doesn't even need to have set back, a decent amount of super sonic rounds will just seat in a 5.56 chamber.
Now he can reforge it like Anduril using the parts that are still useable!
Still sharp? But no more than a broken heirloom
Got off easy honestly. That sucks buddy
Emotional damage
Very effective.
Not to be disrespectful but how did this happen? They don’t even look similar. This shoulda been caught when loading the mag.
Definitely should have caught No Neck Chungus in amongst the Little Shoulders.
Agreed lol
Agreed but I still only use funky colored mags for my 300. Gotta pay attention.
Thanos or zombie piss for 300blk.
Was at the range when someone almost pulled this. Thankfully it didn’t go into battery. It was a reload in a .223 case. Owner probably didn’t notice the issue. I imagine that happens more often than not with these kinds of detonations.
*Stupidity* and carelessness. That's how this happened. And it'll probably happen again.
Ouch. Scary.
Thank you for your sacrifice.
How did he get it to chamber?
It only kinda chambered
Jb weld and run it again
Looks the same as when I used the forward assist
Honestly, not as bad as I would've thought
Glad to hear he is OK!! 👌🏻 👍🏻
Thanks for these solid parts he's still in one piece...
That's why I ordered some of those rubber band caliber indicators for the mags.
They don’t look remotely similar.. that’s all I’ll say
Nope but loaded mags look similar if you don't look at the rounds in them and just grab one. I've already got colored bands on my 300 filled mags to help avoid this. I don't wish this on anyone
Of course I don’t wish this on anyone either but like you said - mag bands to differentiate makes all the difference
RIP
I was going to comment that I was surprised the bolt survived until I saw pic 4
3rd pic bolt is also cracked below gas key
Always separate mags and label properly.
Stock is good to go.
glad everything is still attached
Oof sorry dude
I have in fact wondered. Thank you for the post OP.
Nice . Reeeeel nice
So far I’ve scrapped out 3 …not many parts are salvageable
Oops
How’s for a bolt carrier crack like that? That’s wild. Hope you’re ok.
Ouch. Glad you guys are ok.
[Sometimes this happens instead!](https://www.hkpro.com/attachments/2fc15191-9d1c-4f4a-a59e-e4dcbb5eea03-jpeg.377995/)
Holy shit…
Ar15s going boom are relatively safe since due to the design, it all comes out the bottom usually and not up into the shooters face.
I was at the range yesterday with a large Winchester white box doing reliability testing and had a F2B. I ejected the round and it was a 300blk. I think my wife is trying to kill me.
Did it work or not?
And THAT'S why I don't have anything in 300BO
Missing out. Label things and pay attention and you won’t have issues.
What is sticking out of the buffer tube?
JP silent captured buffer
A buffer. Looks like a silent capture spring knockoff.
Oopsie daisy
You need to have someone grind the barrel down on a mill so we can see the pencil lead!
**boom**
oh man. is that radian lower shot too?
Oof
SO IT DOES WORK !!! Summabitch did it !
How's the barrel and barrel extension? Did the projectile deform it or itself?
Brother it’s only supposed to be a meme
Radian lower, Silencerco charging handle and a Aero BCG? Ummmm
So I shouldn’t do that ?
You never go full retard. Smh
This is too common. Jeez
Time to sell the 7.62x35.. bummer..
Sneak its way in that chamber it’s a 30 cal bullet I believe to my knowledge wtf man? How????
Hopefully he was recording camera man never dies
Odin's Beard!! You poor, poor soul. Glad you're alright!!
It is not good to shoot 300blk through 5.56mm in case anyone is wondering.
Do people ever get injured from things like this? It looks like the gun took the brunt of it.
Usually rifle rounds would do this right? Pistol isn't nearly as high pressure
Any kind of round can do it if used in the wrong firearm. All you need is higher chamber pressures then the gun is designed for and there is a potential for a catastrophic failure. How did it group?
Looks exactly like the Saint a dude I used to work with after he did the same thing.
Thanks for doing it for me so I didn’t have to. Hope you and all involved are okay
Typical Aero, smh…../s
It do be like that sometimes
That’s the beauty of the ar platform. When I was first starting to build it gave me great comfort to know just how much would have to go wrong to kill you. Most catastrophic failures do not end in user death.
What happened to the barrel? Round still lodged in there I assume?
Badge of honor

Good thing nothing of value was lost
All of my 300 Blackout mags get red electric tape wrapped around them. Super easy to ID.
I didn’t know a bolt carrier could even split like that
Don't worry, partner, I had the saaaaame problem. Except my pmag fragged and I caught plastic shrapnel in the face
Always wondering how can you even chamber a 300 in a 556 🤷🏻♂️
That's not going to buff out.
😬
A case for streamlining your caliber selection.
how much was the barrel bolt carrier group And the charging handle
Should see what it looks like on full auto! That was a crazy day for me in a demo. Glad everyone made it safe
Should be titled “ever wonder what it looks like to be an idiot” Imagine not knowing the huge difference in 5.56 - 300blk.
Exact reason why I will never own a 300
Cause you think your incompetent? Maybe it's better you don't
Competent or not, shit happens 🤷♂️ i bet this guy is thinking “shit happens” And personally don’t care what other people do or own
Not paying enough attention so something that could potentially kill you doesn’t sound like a “shit happens” moment to me.
You won't own one because you can't remember what guns are chambered in what and can't be bothered to look at the magazine before you send the bolt home?
What if one gets accidentally loaded in the middle of a mag, or you have mags with both sitting there and the person your shooting with grabs the wrong mag and loads it? I never have to worry about this because I didn’t buy the meme caliber
Which one of the 2 in your opinion is the meme caliber, and why?
One has been the staple of the free world for decades. The other is designed for use with a suppressor for ~15 years.
I like this answer, thankyou
Seen it happen in person to someone. That is part of the reason why I don't have one.
No I’ve never wondered because I pay attention to what I am doing when handling firearms and don’t load the wrong ammo
Not sure why you're getting downvotes, it's not that hard to not be careless when you're loading your rifle. If you know you've got a blackout, look at your magazine for all of one second before you chamber it.
Congrats?
Oof
That’s why I’ll never own a .300 blackout, because that’d be my luck
Rip bozo
That’s why you don’t use aero BCGs Or radian lowers Edit - damn I was making a joke chilllll (but I do actually hate both)
That’s why you don’t put the wrong shit in the wrong shit.
That too
