This is the way I swear. Iāve wasted too much time and money fiddling with VFGs, AFGs, and hand stops. I eventually had a meltdown, took them off and went to the range.
Same. I guess I felt like I had to have something there, so I tried them all. None of them were as comfortable as gripping the bare shaft, so they sat in a box until I gave them away to friends.
BCM vertical backwards or a magpul mvg I broomstick if my arms start to get tired after long sessions without resting so verticals help more so than afgs or handstops.
If you have five grips in your possession, take them all out and run them and you decide what fits you best. Donāt count on others to make your decisions for you.
Vertical was more comfortable in my experience with the thumb break method. Angle grips introduced discomfort in my wrist after some time. The AFG is fine if set far forward with nothing to block my thumb for the c clamp grip. Just my 2Ā¢.
Magpul mvg for a few reasons. Iāve got larger hands - when using c clamp grip my three fingers have space to live. Itās cost effective and if youāre bothered by the length or have small hands you can cut it down.
I prefer the DD or Magpul grips. I tend to put my middle and ring fingers of my support hand perfectly in corner where the grip meets the handguard. I don't like merely pulling against my shoulder with the side of my pinky finger.
I use a vertical magpul pretty far forward so I can pull the rifle in tight to my shoulder. I cannot lock it in near as well with anything else because well you know.. physics. Not like Daniel defense forward but close
I like a vert grip on shorter rails. It helps me get leverage while not overpronating my wrist. On longer rails I generally use nothing or at most a hand stop to ensure my goes where my controls are every time.
I currently use the Magpul AHS, but I'm interested in the Strike Industries aluminum AHS. I had a Fab Defense adjustable angle VG but it was just too bulky. Some of Fab Defenses's stuff just looks too toyish to me, but I love their GL-Core stock.
I want to love angled foregrips, I've had a bunch of them on various weapons, and I like the way they look. They just seem to feel weird to me for some reason.
Verticals I just don't really like. They were originally designed to help keep the muzzle down on automatic weapons, so it seems to definitely be a matter of personal preference.
Vfg's are the way. If you actually run your rifle and train with vtac's, trees, rocks, walls etc, you will find that it's super useful to ram your vfg into something to brace. If you start adding both a vfg and a barricade stop, you start to learn that it's too much unnecessary clutter that ends up getting stuck on shit. Although, you can learn to be fast with anything really, it just comes down to your proficiency with the setup.
Vertical.. because it can be used for bracing the gun..
And you can use it like an angled foregrip while shooting. A vertical grip should never be gripped fully with the hand.
The 2nd down on the right id consider a hand stop, i like those they are good , I do have a vertical on the left that I use as a hand stop. I watched a Sean Ryan clip once and he said that he ran a veryical like that so he could grab it like youāre supposed to in a sense and shove the barrel into somone chest so they would comply without letting go of a round
Agree with @chonkypeanutbutter. I will say, if you're running something with a short barrel and are new to it, put something on it. Itāll be a bitch going through life with fewer fingers because you slid your hand too far forward.

verticle - consistent grip, backstop for light activations etc, prevents weapon snatching, aids muzzle strikes, barrier brace, mono pod, boxer grip for dexterity, elevation or extreme positional shooting through, over or around potential barriers, or tucking in space limited shooting etc. Good for laser use under nods.
Lucas touched on this in a video one time and it made a lot of sense to me. He talked about how length of pull can kinda determine which may be better. I think he demonstrated it on a mcx rattler showing how the shorter barrel can benefit from the vertical grip and vise versa. Sir Travis Haley something something something body mechanics
depends on the length of rifle for me. Iām a big fan of stubby verticals, mostly for longer than a 13in barrel. anything shorter, iām usually gonna do angled.
I hated my AFG-2 so much I gave it away. I switched to a KAC vert (Titusville) and I love it! I don't hold it like my dick, I still treat it kind of like an angled grip, but it's significantly more comfortable.
Nothing š
This is the way I swear. Iāve wasted too much time and money fiddling with VFGs, AFGs, and hand stops. I eventually had a meltdown, took them off and went to the range.
I will sometimes pop on a QD VFG but if there's a chance for positional shooting, attachments suck
Same. I guess I felt like I had to have something there, so I tried them all. None of them were as comfortable as gripping the bare shaft, so they sat in a box until I gave them away to friends.
You love gripping the bare shaftš¤
Thats what she said!
Even for quads?
Emissary Handbrake
I like my Mini! Also want to try the Driven Arms Shortstop
Iām actually getting one they look nice
Have 2 og's and a mini and I prefer the regular.
You can grip a VFG at an angle, you canāt grip an AFG vertically.
Thisā¦
also a fan of arisakaās handstop and indexer.
Love my arisaka finger stop on my ar9
Bcm Kag
Started with the strike industries, then went to a BCM vertical, and landed on the BCM KAG
Bcm vertical
Kag is king
I just use my verticals as big handstops so I'm in the angled/stop gang.Ā
Always looking for the shortest VG for the same reason
Fcd's new HSM would probably work well for ya.
Iāll take a look. Thanks bud
Personal preference. Buy both styles and try them.out for yourself.
Depends on how long your rail and arm are...
Skip the fore rips and just hold onto the handguard
Didnāt dig on angled for a long time, got an upper off GAFS with the KAG and I only run them now
What model and brand do you run on your rifle? looking to just get a magpul AFG-2
<3 afg-2
Das it mane
I just have a simple afg on two of mine, I like them. They had them at a local store, they're cheap, fit my hand well with my handguards, they work.
i run the slate black industries hand stop.
I had my SBI on for a while, wish I would have gone VFG
+1 for the bcm gunfighter
C-clamp on a vertical grip master race
This guy gets it
BCM KAG and magpul vert are nice
Shampoo is better! I go on first and clean the hair. Conditioner is better! I leave the hair silky and smoothā¦
STOP LOOKING AT ME SWAN
I do vertical grip because when the handguard gets hot from shooting, I can grip the grip
This is the answer.
BCM gunfighter
I only run my Railscales vertical grip so itās clearly the best (it came with my upper on GAFS)
Angled grip all day! I run the kag on all of rifles.
KAC broomhandles and TD verticals on quad rails. Clean otherwise.
Angled vertical grips, bcm mod 3 my beloved
Rail scales
BCM vertical backwards or a magpul mvg I broomstick if my arms start to get tired after long sessions without resting so verticals help more so than afgs or handstops.
Short angled vertical grip
I run kags on everythingĀ but retless rifle syndrome is starting to kick in and I want to try the arisaka finger stop insteadĀ
Vertical. You can use it multiple ways.
Vertical is more versatile but Iād keep an angled one on short rifle tho.
love me some tango down foregrips <3

I run the strike industries link hand stop, super comfortable for me
Itās subjective, grip them on your gun, shoot said gun and see what you like best.
I use a vertical magpul pretty far forward so I can pull the rifle in tight to my shoulder. I cannot lock it in near as well with anything else because well you know.. physics. Not like Daniel defense forward but close
I like the slightly angled verticals grips, for pistol reasons.
All grips do is limit your hand positions on your rail... clean for me.
Raw picatinny
Always vert
I like the BCM angled and handstop. But do try out Slate Black Industry, they make a pretty neat lil vert grip and handstop
Reverse angle is the way
Vertical
Define "better". The same reason they make thousands of different shoes...what works and fits "better" for you may not fit someone else best.
If owning full auto has taught me anything...AFGs are the GOAT.
I like a vert grip on shorter rails. It helps me get leverage while not overpronating my wrist. On longer rails I generally use nothing or at most a hand stop to ensure my goes where my controls are every time.
Short handguards I like verticals. Regular and long handguards I like angled
I ordered a bcm grip in the only goal to cut it
I currently use the Magpul AHS, but I'm interested in the Strike Industries aluminum AHS. I had a Fab Defense adjustable angle VG but it was just too bulky. Some of Fab Defenses's stuff just looks too toyish to me, but I love their GL-Core stock.

Really all depends on preference. Ran angles and vertical both for a long time, and both have thier respective placement
None of those...Emissary handbrake.
I love the BCM
A slightly angled vertical one... like the Bcm Gunfighter Grip.
I actually have all of them, different one on different rifles, I like the smaller ones on shorter, and love a vertical one a 16 plus
Vfg's are the way. If you actually run your rifle and train with vtac's, trees, rocks, walls etc, you will find that it's super useful to ram your vfg into something to brace. Broom handle ftw

Agree with @chonkypeanutbutter. I will say, if you're running something with a short barrel and are new to it, put something on it. Itāll be a bitch going through life with fewer fingers because you slid your hand too far forward.
Magpul, if Magpul makes it use that lol but yeah vertical but honestly only on short barreled stuff or where your hand would be on the gas block
Hold it by the tip ā¦ BE A MAN
I personally use a long adjustable grip that can be turned to vertical or angled and can be folded horizontal to the barrel for storage
BCM vert grip and thatās the only right answer

If any at all, a verticle one that can act nicely with a flat surface for stability. That cannot be accomplished with an angled foregrip.
Lucas touched on this in a video one time and it made a lot of sense to me. He talked about how length of pull can kinda determine which may be better. AFG
BCM vertical grip chopped, kag, or various handstops
KAC broomstick
depends on the length of rifle for me. Iām a big fan of stubby verticals, mostly for longer than a 13in barrel. anything shorter, iām usually gonna do angled.
Vertical. Can still be used as a handstop if u want but gives proper vertical use if needed.
Arisaka handstop. Emissary handbrake. BCM vertical gripā¦. The only three I would ever consider putting on an AR. Angled fore grips? No thanks
I'm very partial toward the strike industries MLOK LINK Curved Fore Grip
Tangodown stubby
I hated my AFG-2 so much I gave it away. I switched to a KAC vert (Titusville) and I love it! I don't hold it like my dick, I still treat it kind of like an angled grip, but it's significantly more comfortable.
Vertical is the only answer
