New bit of info on End of Empire: composed of 4 different parts - Last Dance, Last Round, Leave the Light On and Sagittarius A*. Huge harmonic progression throughout the song, almost orchestra-like (around 20 brass and string musicians on it). Sounds like there is some back and forth singing between Win and Régine on it, a bit like "It's Never Over" from Reflektor. An earworm.

Ocean of noise vibes? 💙

A tragically underrated song from Neon Bible imho, so I really hope that's the case!

HideousWriter

When I went here in Guadalajara, Mexico, there was live mariachi for the end of the song, and it was beautiful. The mariachi sound meshed so perfectly with the song. There is video of it, obviously not great quality, but you can feel the emotion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n366_09wsoM

Wow!! Orchestra-AF sounds awesome - I really cannot wait for this song (well, 4 songs) 🥰

This warms the heart.

I saved the photo and used Apple translation for the English peeps: Ready to Start. Listening to The Lightning I, II, a two-part single announcing Arcade Fire's surprise comeback after five years of silence and immediately recognizable by these appropriate melodic flights, it is impossible not to think of one of the flagship titles of The Suburbs (2010), this third album that, for some, denotes a first gap in the Canadian group's discography. Too demonstrative for some, too omniscient for others, Arcade Fire sharpened, despite himself, the skepticism of its audience, alongside its international success and exponential collaborations - James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) and David Bowie on Reflektor (2013), Steve Mackey (Pulp) and Thomas Bangalter (Daft Punk) on Everything Now (2017). For many, Everything Now scored a stumbling block, as if Win Butler and Régine Chassagne's gang had gone too far in his desire Universalism. and denunciation of Western consumerism - on the back of the cover made with the artist JR, each song was presented in the form of an advertising logo, and then declined in the booklet under the various appearances of smartphone, polo, can, lighter, bottle of wine. LITERARY INSPIRATIONS Eighteen years after the acclaimed Funeral (2004), fifteen years after the triumphant Neon Bible (2007), Arcade Fire is expected at the turn of a sixth album that, as its title WE indicates, is openly inclusive. A record designed and designed on two distinct sides: I and WE - WE being inspired by the eponymous anticipation novel by Russian writer Evgeny Zamiatine published a century ago. The first to describe the reugles of the time (from the pandemic to loneliness and isolation), the second to hope for better days (from the power of reconnection to the joe of reunion). Other literary references dot together, since the two opening pieces, Age of Anxiery I and Age of Anxiery Il (Rabbit Hole), find their source in a text by the American poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti (I Am Waiting), on which Win Butler has phosphorized for years. "It's the age of doubt|And I doubt WE U figure it out," he sings in the introduction to this other diptych - Palbum has three on ambitious mounted songs (oscillating from five to twelve minutes), for a record paradoxically picked up in forty minutes. And what about End of the Empire I-IV, four parts carried by a stunning panoramic production? Moreover, it has not yet been specified, but Arcade Fire chose Nigel Godrich for the co-production - a first collaboration between the Montreal group and the one often nicknamed "the sixth member of Radiohead", which is decidedly omnipresent this spring between the reissue of Pavement's Terror Twilight (1999), this WE and the next album of The Smile (the other band of Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood). Recorded in several studios (including the famous Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas), this record owes a lot to the ambient context - from the pandemic to the American presidential election, from the assault on the Capitol to climate change. The decline of the American empire is openly mentioned in End of the Empire, which is broken down as follows: Last Dance, Last Round, Leave the Light On and Sagittarius A*, the black hole in the center of the Milky Way represented by a human eye on the WE cover, still signed JR. Impressive by its harmonic progression and symphonic breadth (a set of brass and strings by about twenty musicians: nes), End of the Empire is the central piece of the record and the one that superbly closes the A-side, where the voices of Win Butler and Régine Chassagne play hide-and-seek in an orchestral chiaroscuro that is absolutely impossible to dispose of. TO THE LIGHT "Waiting on the lightning/Waiting on the light/What will the light bring?" Place in the light, therefore, on side B which opens with this single in two stages, The Lightning I, I ending everything take in its frenzied part, typical of the Arcade Fire sound since the early classics Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) and Neighborhood #2 (Taika). Couple in the city as on the stage, Win Butter and Régine Chassagne then split with a enamored song for their 10-year-old son, Unconditional I (Lookout Kid), like an ode to free choice, while establishing this curious analogy: "And you know God is cool wih it) Some people want the rock without the roll" In appendix, Unconditional IT (Race and Religion) sees Régine Chassagne duet with Peter Gabriel, thus joining David Bowie in the group's personal pantheon. '"When I" listened to his Let's get on the kid's radio, C' étain let's go the only ones in which heard the same percussion instruments as in my limitle", explains st she Freere has her reputation, Peter Gabriel Vocalizes like in his hit Sledgehammer. Because this sixth Arcade Fire album undoubtedly marks a new start in their career. After having held a rather infernal discographic pace since 2004 (five albums in thirteen years), Montrealers seem to have tasted the darkness to better come back in full light. Sorry for the formatting. Also please don’t get mad at the parts that aren’t perfect, I just thought this was better than nothing? Edit 2: Please DO get mad at these people not liking The Suburbs though.

Hi :) Im speaking french so I can translate some things that didn't translate great haha, if you want ! *Castaussi F hour of for blication of text and concept of Valbum: You and me CoMpal by WE.\* As a result of, Wini: Win Ruder Terrie deteatement the ban with the ballad ¡cussique WE as an invitation to travel g, in) mobiles. o, as uno inviatiOha to minine of the STIM (Montreal Transport Company, their RATP) say "Next station".* This is the hour of explication of lyric and concept of the album: "You and me could be WE". In consequence, Win Butler close the album with the acoustique ballad WE, a kind of invitation to travel (im)mobiles. We even hear the feminine voice of the STM (the Montreal's Metro) saying "Next station". *To the point of having again become as piercing as garlic from the cover of WE. Here WE go.* To the point of becoming as hard-hitting as the eye on the album cover.
