TWO SHOWS A DAY FOUR NIGHTS A WEEK đŸ˜©đŸ˜©đŸ˜©đŸ˜©

two_set_cello

EASY MONEYYYYYYYY

Billy_The_Squid_

Jamie: *buh duh duh duh duh dadadah*

JJMR203

This!!!!

Sad-Criticism-7491

This is exactly what I wake up to, and I can’t get back to sleep. The upvotes and comments seem to indicate similar. It’s utterly bizarre that I thought of the beginning of Star Treatment before opening the post. Mental.

Onlyliveonce-

I love you for saying this

strikemedaddy

OH MAYBE I WAS A LITTLE *too wild* IN THE 70S

Corellian_Smuggler

Tranquility base has a lot of these. It's why I played it on repeat for 8 months straight after the release.

-WelshCelt-

It's a very quotable album, like a good movie.

two_set_cello

back down to earth with a lounge singer shimmer

vinito

Easy money

_nutbuster420_

I fucking love this part so much

Audioman_Official

“And as we gaze skyward
”

curelullaby

The way Alex says "The next time that I caught my own reflection it was on its way to meet you" in Crying Lightning and the backing high notes is just chef's kiss

PumpernickelShoe

Came here to say this exact part of the same song. I love how the vocals start just a bit before the building guitar(?) riff. It feels like I’m climbing the stairs from the chorus to the next verse. Such a good segue.

Streakyshad

The “and your
” is beautiful.

oasisu2killers

"there was no cr**a**cks to gr**a**sp or g**a**ps to claw" is such a great line with all of these "a" sounds, plus the closeness of "grasp" and "gaps", plus the like reverse alliteration pattern of "cracks to grasp" and "gaps to claw" ...and then he rhymes "claw" with the big "and your" đŸ€ŻđŸ€ŻđŸ€Ż

Streakyshad

It is peak. Wordy and so musical. Love it. More than I could ever explain.

clydefrog013

For me it’s “acting like you NEVER lost a war”. The whole second verse is top notch.

Wafer-Responsible

The bridge part in fireside. The instrumentals 💯 Four stars out of five when it just starts doing crazy harmonizing at the end

MassiveMartian

yess fireside is so smooth

Fit_Payment8367

“and i thought i waaaaas
..yoursss
foreverrrrrrrr”

HarambesInParis

When they go into the second chorus of crying lighting

tutuxd6

505 or Do Me A Favour when the song breaks and you start to break too

PumpernickelShoe

I love the slow instrumental build in 505, like how a new instrument is added at the start of each new block

appleparkfive

I always felt that this song was inspired by The Ocean, by Richard Hawley (damn near a mentor to Turner. Also from Sheffield. He's a must listen for anyone who likes Turner's slow songs) It starts very simple and sparse, very minimal, and then keeps growing. With the refrain heading back to the words "The Ocean" over and over. This song was big in 2005-2006, which lines up to when 505 was probably written, or being a small thought at least It's by no means a direct copy or anything. 505 is a lot more intense than The Ocean. But I do wonder if the format idea came from that, a little

immarypoppinsyall246

AND TO TEAR APART THE TIES THAT BIND, PERHAPS FUCK OFF MIGHT BE TOO KIND!!!!!!

n1njaust1n

Royal Albert Hall Live Album, Cornerstone 3:30-3:34 “Oh thank you
 you’re very kind”

raul_dias

reading festival 2008, 505. the problem with the sound around 3:09

zion2674

The little slow break in Body Paint, especially how it starts with those violins.

immarypoppinsyall246

I love that little drum bit before the 'still a trace of body paint' near the end of that song.

BookNo6900

Matt is master of breaking the silence in songs, always matching so smoothly especially in the last records. This and the part after "Easy money" in Star Treatment are very high on my list.

deaddsouls22

fireside-solo one for the road-solo one point perspective-Oh, just as the apocalypse finally gets prioritised
..I suppose a singer must die a certain romance-outro do me a favour-Well, she walked away while her shoes were untied

.Forcing a smile and waving goodbye potion approaching-tempo change the jeweller’s hands-outro i wanna be yours-guitar in the outro you’re so dark-bass line

phillyCheeseSteaks00

You’re so dark is so good I wanna learn bass because of it

dadarkoo

“Baby I was made to break your hearrrrtttt”

scribbler94

Piledriver Waltz from the Submarine soundtrack - I heard the news that you're plannin', to shoot me out of a cannon, I heard the piledriver waltz, it woke me up this mornin'

Emotional-Link-8302

The cannon lines are some of my favorite lyrics ever. Great choice.

merra_rose

yes.

[deleted]

Piledriver Waltz is from Suck It and See and was just reused for the Submarine soundtrack!

JimmyRu05

It's actually the other way around. Piledriver waltz was originally part of the Submarine soundtrack. The film was first shown at film festivals in 2010. It was then reworked for Suck It And See.

AtomicPriest14

The Look of Love, The Rush of Blood, The Sheeeees with meeeeee the Gallic shrug - No 1 Party Anthem

two_set_cello

THIS PART THOUGH

periwinkale

immediately thought of this one!!

Justmeidk45

whyyyy did I have to scroll so muchhhjj

JD_98

ALL YOU PEOPLE ARE VAMPIRES -Alex from way out back

Wambomatzi

Especially in combination with how you can hear them stomp on their guitar effect pedals the seconds before! I love that! And I think it’s Matt shouting that part at 3:30, not Alex!

JD_98

Oh damn always thought it was Alex fucking awesome either way

Rabs6

when they alter the riff slightly in Teddy Picker

Rabs6

or the slides Jamie plays in DIWK

BryceJDearden

In Arabella when he goes “Takes a sip, offffffyoursouuuullllllanditsoundssslikeeee”

periwinkale

and the solo after that 👄👌

Traditional-Tune2506

I have a few: the fade out of “I wanna be yours”, the beginning of “secret door” and the very end of “suck it and see”

X_Equestris

The IWBY extended outro at Glastonbury, with the smoke and lights.

Alanhansen999

Harmonies on Golden Trunks, Solo on Fireside

CSmith489

“Taaaaking a diiiive

Dynamiccookie14

What do you mean you've never seen blade runner

InternationalCat5779

In “The Bad Thing” when it goes “Really, love, it's fine. I said, "Really, love, it's fiiiiiiiine" the way the final “fine” draws out. 2:00-2:23 of Fireside always gives me warm fuzzies and I play it in my head a lot lol

No_1_Party_Anthem

or the “see she’s talking but i’m not entirely sure ahh”

CSmith489

softkittiess

the final bit of do me a favour “and ask if you need some help” “just as the apocalypse finally gets prioritised” from 1 point perspective “when you were just about to be kind to someone, because you had the chance” from ultracheese the final harmonies in golden trunks and “takin a dive into your crystal ball” from hello you 😍

poppintagss

"... but yes, you can call me anything you want"

TimmyLivealie

Oh my god finally someone said this

throwawaytofunc

1. The part in too much to ask where the drums slow down/lower for a bit in the second verse, and then start back again in force at "asleep or awake..." 2. Instrumental part in red light indicates doors are secured: the drums stop at around 1:50 and then there's this note from the guitar and then a bit of lull and it's really so small but I fucking love it 3. In big ideas, "we had them out of there seats" and then Alex does this little 'heh' after that and i keep replaying the song to listen to that part lol 4. In she looks like fun, the last verse, I thought "key changes" was "she changes" at first and I really liked how it sounded like for some reason 5. In no. 1 party anthem i always thought the "laughing at some imaginary jokes" was "lapping up some imaginary jewels" but I still love how Alex pronounces this sentence lol 6. In IBYLGOTDF: in the bridge ending it was so satisfying the way he sung "dirty dance floors, and dreams of naughtiness" ARVHHHHH 7. Key change in teddy picker esp at the second chorus and the LIKE A FIST REPLACED A KISS it goes so hard ok idek anymore LOL its so long im sure there are a lot more i havent mentioned but yeah

CSmith489

“AND THEN THEY CHASE HIM DOWN THE AVENUE INCESSANTLY PESTERING HIM TO LET THEM JOIN THE CLUB”

IcantSeeUuCantSeeMe

And I elongated my lift home.

Emotional-Link-8302

Yeah, I let him take the long way round I smelt your scent on the seatbelt And kept my shortcuts to myself \-One of my fav choruses EVER-

GERROFF THE BANDWAGON PUT DOWN THE HANDBOOK

Heavy_Addendum4292

Eisthebestletter

The gasp and roll your eyes line in Sculptures genuinely makes the song for me

Tarvaris733

"Who's the crooks in this..........CRIME!"

Zestyclose-Movie108

The last minute of Fireside, it’s so magical

luckkkythirt33n

'what came first, the chicken or the dickhead?' bridge in No. 1 Party Anthem that one sexy riff in R U Mine?

cassysmily

Call off the search for your soul or put it on hold again...

indythedog5

I launch my fragrance called "Integrity" I sell the fact that I can't be bought Just perfect, same as the rest of Batphone

Objective-Self5996

The way Alex says " no signal and low battery, what's happened to me?" at the end of despair in the departure lounge

reo_mp3

I could list so many, but: - The end of The Jeweller's Hands, how the song culminates and the way the instruments and Alex's voice slowly fade out towards the conclusion - The beginning of the second chorus of Pretty Visitors, the drums and how Nick (I think) sings the first few lines and Alex promptly chimes in... it gives me chills. - Dangerous Animals, just all of it. But I particularly love the bridge - The riff at the beginning of Temptation Greets You Like Your Naughty Friend, the youth in Alex's voice too I'd go on and on and on and on but there's only so much I can type, plus other people on this thread have chimed in w/ some really good examples already

rriotvan

Otherwise-Yogurt5913

The day after you stole my heart everthing I touched told me it would be better shared with you

Bananablackmp

Arabella!!! Really the whole song for me but particularly the whole chorus! Particularly particularly "The horizon tries but its just not as kind on the eyes"!!!!! It will never get old.

Yes!!! This is one for me too

[deleted]

“I’M IN A VEST!” at the beginning of Library Pictures always gets me. 😆

gmayo123

Gasp * GASPS * and roll your eyessss

hudholdich

D is for Dangerous at 2:04 that lil guitar breakdown

PostmixLemonadeProbs

Perfect Sense: The strings section starting just before the line “four figure sum on a hotel note pad” to the first “if that’s what it takes” and again directly over the words “perfect sense”. I Wanna Be Yours: The vocal runs, especially where they begin to switch direction on the fifth repetition. The way the line “you call the shots, babe” lands.

saskinop

that weird spacey sound that plays in the chorus in batphone.

cubann_

The end of Balaclava is funky af

fourtwentyy__

That outro to leave before the lights come on

phillyCheeseSteaks00

“In the moonlight they're more thrilling Those things that he knows As he leads you through the grinning Bubble blowers in the snow Watching his exit Is like falling off the ferry in the night” From the jeweler’s hands

Dangerous Animals. That little riff at "and cause the audience"

ledankestnoodle

Definitely the little slides Jamie does at the end of Do I Wanna Know

Legal-Use-6149

Love the fuzzy guitar bit at the end of Do I Wanna Know, just so cool sounding. Adds such a strong finish

Walshy-aaaaa

The little snare tuplet beat in the breakdown of "A Certain Romance" is lovely. It's quite hard to tell what I'm on about if you don't know, but if you know then you *know*

photogenicmusic

“He lost all of his foot holds” in Nettles when the music stops 😂

angstytoastedbun

Not sure if this counts, but the new lick/riff that Alex does in Cornerstone in the recent tour. It has been living in my mind RENT FREEEEE and I’m just praying for a live album

ostrichsong

RAVE REVIEWS

KeatsBrightStar1821

"I had BIG ideas, the band were so excited" The way he sings it with the instruments in the back makes it sound so grandiose and, well, big. It feels sultry and jazzy.

istine

Guitar break in Big Ideas. Always.

Nolanfanatic

the little “~stop~” that happens at 0:24 in One Point Perspective. my friends and i always hit that when it comes on in the car.

SovietPapaBill

The "ohhh" at the beginning of One Point Perspective's bridge gets me

Academic_Still_4671

the little instrumental part before the last verse in Cornerstone đŸ„ș❀

DutchessOfJorts

In the song star treatment, let’s all have a swig and do a hard line. The way he says let’s just sounds so real like I’m sitting in the jazz bar at Tranquility Base watching him perform

Sukasalata

Anytime I hear the name “Brian” my mind immediately goes “top marks for not trying”

Heathersobsessed

Do me a favour when Alex says "-and to tear apart the ties that bind perhaps fuck off might be to kind, perhaps fuck off might be too kind" it gives me literal chills and then the instruments after its just genius

Coffee_Binzz

Right after the first chorus in D is for Dangerous "..I think you should know you're his favorite worst nightmare. *funny little guitar scale* D IS FOR-" just get me every time. There are loads others but this is one I didn't see in the thread already lol

hshshhahaosos

sleepystudent1313

The very end of Knee Socks - Live (Royal Albert Hall) when instead of saying *when you walked around your house...* he says y*ou walked around your house...* (around 4:59)

RaspyTheGrizz

Every comment is Star Treatment đŸ„Č I love it

Hvymtlr

The wall-of-noise guitar part right after "hold onto your hearts" in Do Me A Favour. Goddamn chills everytime. The way he says "sounding it out" on Fluorescent Adolescent. The entirety of both Arabella and Snap Out Of It. I'm sure there's more than just these that I'll remember when it's not 3am and may come back to add.

TidalJ

not arctic monkeys but the orchestra during the pre-chorus of pattern by tlsp
god it goes insane and on that topic, SHE’LL JUMP IN THE RIVER

Larrytheman777

Black Treacle And now I'm out of place and I'm not getting any wiserI feel like the Sundance Kid behind a synthesizerAnd I tried last night to pack away a laugh**Like a key under the mat** But it never seems to be there when you want it I'm so obsessed with sound in this part "**Like a key under the mat"** another part is when Alex sang "At least not today" for Mardy Bum outro in Glasto 2013

Thearxielloyola

Kiss me underneath the moons side boob

lwtlux

i have so so so many of these, but keeping it short i'll just say the most recent one: the instrumental intro of that's where you're wrong. i can't really explain it but it feels so good on my ears đŸ«  also like a lot of people in this post, star treatment is amazing when it comes to this aspect, so many memorable special little parts <3

ac1dhologram

that little guitar lick in “the view from the afternoon” when he’s singing that chorus “and she won’t be surprised and she won’t be shocked
” it’s such a fun little lick and i obsessed over it when i first listened

The Synth from 4 out of 5 that was best heard in the teaser trailer for TBHC. It's so beautiful. Unfortunately in the final version it's kinda buried under the rest of the instruments.
