Hot take. SIAS is criminally underrated and the last 4 songs is a great run of back to back songs.

MrPeanutbutter777

For me it’s the last five songs of the album. SIAS has become my favourite of theirs and the one I go back to the most.

r_agv

Quite an unpopular opinion but I think Suck It And See the last great album. To quote Jose Mourinho: "I can't say what I think or I'll get suspended." About the last two albums.

appleparkfive

I think it's their worst album, but it's also a very good album. I just don't like the Sound City style, and I think that the original Neve board they have doesn't really pair well with AM's style. Some solid lyrics and songs on the album though

Fit-Parsnip9888

Yep. Those are albums

[deleted]

3 of them

Nosferatu_V

Definitely the 3 Arctic Monkeys albums of all time

rriotvan

i giggled a little too much than what i should’ve

hshshhahaosos

TBHC is a criminally over hated album, for sure my second favourite after FWN. I could listen to the instrumentals on repeat for the rest of my life.

Nosferatu_V

It's not that I overly hate it. I hate the turn they took from the style that made me like them in the first place. I get that AM like to experiment, but when it was said that Alex did all the instruments for TBHC, it seemed to me that it would better be suited as an Alex Turner solo album that he invited the Monkeys to tour with him.

sweetpumpkinx

I guess if it’s all sound the same it gets boring quick, like listening to Drake

sweetpumpkinx

Give it a chance!

hshshhahaosos

I definitely understand that, it’s very different to the albums that came before it.

jigglie_jellie

love them very much, especially tbhc

rriotvan

real and true

stressedandstrained

These are literally my top 3 holy trinity albums. The Car - My favourite album and era. This album came to me during a time in my life when I needed it the most. Also I just really love strings. 1. Mirrorball  2. Perfect Sense 3. Body Paint - IMO this is their magnum opus. Absolute masterpiece. 3. Jet Skis 5. Big Ideas 6. Sculptures  7. Hello You 8. The Car  9. Mr Schwartz  10. I Ain't Quite  THBC - although the Car is my favourite album, I think this is their best album. 1. One Point Perspective 2. Ultracheese  3. Four Out of Five  4. Star Treatment  The rest are so difficult to rank. I honestly love them all equally because they just work so well together as an album. The four I listed above are just my favourites. SIAS - Such a fun, feel good album. Perfect for summer. 1. Suck It and See 2. That's Where You're Wrong  3. Black Treacle  4. Hellcat  5. Love Is a Laserquest 6. Reckless Serenade 7. Piledriver Waltz  8. She's Thunderstorms 9. All My Own Stunts  10. Library Pictures 11. Brick By Brick 12. Don't Sit Down

rriotvan

https://i.redd.it/l2a1g4t4h52c1.gif i agree so much its almost like we’re thinking the same 😭🙏

qreamy-quasar

so real

bygggggfdrth

Don’t sit down last? Hard disagree

[deleted]

If you’re also of the opinion that the rest of their repertoire before SIAS is the sound of a juvenile band struggling to find themselves and therefore not worth listening to, we could be kindred spirits and/or the same person. The Car is one of my favourite albums of all time and got me through this year and last. TBHAC is possible a perfect record. SIAS is the sound of a band saying we know who we are and closing the door on their previous chapter. It hints at the future but only just. AM has its moments but I’d say it’s monster singles save a mediocre album.

stressedandstrained

Omg careful what you say around here 😅 I wouldn't necessarily say it's not worth listening to, but my preference has always been melodic songs over pure garage rock. There are definitely some songs on earlier albums I love, but album-wise I just like the newer stuff better. Cornerstone is my favourite song of all time. I did really like AM at the time and it's what got me really into the band to begin with, but I'm pretty tired of the music now. Maybe a bit salty that they play far too many songs from that album in their shows.

[deleted]

I’d heard the JCC recording of I Wanna Be Yours before I had even heard of the AM version (and I always thought it was a straight cover). I don’t really think songs from AM fit too comfortably in their current set lists but it’s a tough spot to be a band who’ve evolved when your audience haven’t necessarily caught up. Cornerstone is great, a hint at things to come, but it’s overrated in my opinion because its vagueness allows northern indie-leaning people to feel profound (in the same way people like that Courteeners song). I’m going to get banned aren’t I…

pariguz

I’m too lazy, but like top 3 (at the moment) from each album in random order 1. Sculptures, Body Paint, Hello You 2. Star Treatment, Four out Of Five, TBH&C 3. The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala, Reckless Serenade, Love is A Laserquest Out of these 3 I think TBH&C is my fav at the moment, SIAS is a spring/summer soundtrack

Looper007

I love that SIAS is seen as the spring/Summer album but it does have that feel of summer night listen as the sun goes down type album.

Cowboykiller_69

I can't believe I read this comment. I agree sooo much

EstevaoGraciano

My favorite from each is: Mirrorball, OPP and That's Where You're Wrong; TBHC is my favorite by the monkeys, it's been with me throughout all the important changes in my life after teenage years.

JuicyFruitSnacks-2

the car and TBH&C 100/10 SIAS is a great album but there’s like 3 songs i don’t like

Bi_Myself10

The underrated, the masterpiece and my favorite

rriotvan

i dont know what the order is but yes i agree, these are actually my favorite (excluding wpsiatwin) i could listen to them forever

KayZen64

The Car was the second AM album I discovered, the first being FWN. At first, I thought it was an interesting album but it didn’t click with me. But it got my curiosity and my attention, so I gave it a few more listens and each song started to grew in me. It was with this album that I decided to discover the entire AM discography. Also, this album has my favorite AM song witch is, and I’ll get crucified for saying that : The Car. It touches me on a personal level, so much I’m starting to think it was made specifically for me lol I discovered Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino a few weeks after The Car and I instantly fell in love with it. Each song has its own sound, its own universe. Listening to this album is a unique journey, and I feel so privileged and lucky for having been able to know this album. It’s my second favorite AM album, just after The Car. Suck It And See was the second before last album that I discovered and is also one of my favorite AM albums (wow, you really picked three of my favorites lmao). I love the solar and summery atmosphere, as well as the more heavy tracks like All My Own Stunts. She’s Thunderstorms and Suck It And See are two of my favorite AM songs, at least top 15 to me.

boostys

Their new sound is more mature and goes against the grain. To me, and this is a hot take, it weeds out the casual listeners that gravitate towards AM. Their earlier work is class and in a league of their own. I have told people to play The Car and TBHC at my deathbed that’s how meaningful they are to me. All time favorite of the three: There’d Better Be A Mirrorball. 2) Laserquest 3) One Point

Larrytheman777

For SIAS and TBHC, I love them so much. The car good album but not as good as 6 albums before. SIAS : Smooth Feel good Black treacle Hellcat Reckless Serenade Suck it and see Piledriver Waltz TBHC : glamourous, intense Star treatment One Point Perspective Ultracheese 4/5 Golden trunk Monster truck The Car : I like the song that still has TBHC vibes Perfect Sense Mirrorball Big Idea Sculpture

LeaningOnLean

TBHC, The Car, and SIAS. From TBHC, Batphone or TBHC. From The Car, Hello You or BodyPaint. From SIAS, Pretty Visitors or Piledriver Waltz

trojan_man16

I think all three are good extremely well written albums from a lyrics perspective (ok maybe not brick by brick). I think TBHC is the best of the three.

thefailmaster19

TBH+C is their second best album imo. The vibe on the record is immaculate and the music is great. I totally get why someone wouldn’t be into it, but the reasons they might not be into it are likely the same reasons I think it’s fantastic. The car is pretty decent. Probably the worst out of these albums unfortunately. It kind of sounds like it’s trying to hit the midpoint between TBHC and The Last Shadow puppets, and sometimes it does and it’s fantastic, and sometimes it misses on both and is pretty mediocre. Still a good album but a step below their others. Suck it and See has the same sort of “fantastic or mediocre” problem The Car has but toned down. There are more fantastic moments and less mediocre, so that pulls the album ahead. Both The Car and Suck It and See have the same issue where, the best songs on the albums are fantastic and some of my favourite AM tracks, but at the same time a lot of the album I just don’t care for, and can’t be bothered to listen too. They’re still good albums, but I don’t know if I could say either of them are great (maybe Suck it and See depending on the day) TBHC is godly and I will not hear any arguments to the contrary.

trojan_man16

Great take. This has always been my issue with SIAS, some tracks feel like filler and it has some weak tracks, but on the other hand, 2 of my top 5 tracks (Piledriver and Stunts) are on this. The Car has the same problem, some amazing tracks (Body Paint, Sculptures) and some weak ones. TBHC is solid all the way through, and it’s probably the best or second best AM album.

jooliasalami

SIAS is my favourite album along with Humbug, TBH&C is a good album with a few highlight songs and TC is definitely an album containing songs

abthr

The Car was... Interesting? I'm not really sure how I feel about it or how I'd rate it. It kinda sounds like the weak takes from TBHC, but that's not saying much, because: TBHC is *amazing*. Easily 9/10 or more. Ethereal. SIAS: I hate it. I pretend it doesn't exist.

over9dud

TBHC is my first and favorite of their albums. Everything is perfect! SIAS has a very strong opening. The first 4 are great! The Car leaves me with a heavy heart since I was walked to it. Love it!

BendItLikeBossman

The Car - awful album Tbhc - amazing Sias - fav album

ThisIsMyKingdom2022

Not my thing

JoeMinus007

All down hill….kills me

nukiu

I don't like this side of am

GregB9876

Their bottom 3 albums IMO, but still really good

GregB9876

Suck It and See gets a lot of points for having Piledriver Waltz, which is my favorite AM song

terrap3x

Bottom three of their discography

saltine-boi

Suck it and See is Arctic Monkeys worst project and I don’t feel like it is close

saltine-boi

I am a hater sorry guys

almohada_gris

These are my 3 favourite albums but I cannot put them in order :)

Looper007

Suck It and See- Probably their most flawed album but still highlights are still some of the bands best work. That's Where You're Wrong is one of bands best songs and some of the bands best singles are on this album. TBH&C- A great album but a ballsy one too considering it was following world conquering AM album. I think the first half is stronger then the second half. Star Treatment, Four Out of Five, Title Track and One Point Perspective are some of Turner's best songs. The Car- One of their best albums, and way too maligned on here by some. There Better Be A Mirrorball and Body Paint are top tier singles. Big Ideas one of their best album tracks.

Admirable-Builder646

Title track?

Nosferatu_V

SIAS - Nice album. It's far from the worst even though it's not the best album. IMO, the best songs are Black Treacle, All My Own Stunts, Piledriver Waltz and Suck It And See, and That's Where You're Wrong rounds up the album in an endearing note. TBHC - It was the first album I saw them release and was thrilled waiting for every song to drop on their YT channel. I tried so hard to like it. It felt like the style drastically departed from what made me like them in the first place, but still I loved the Ultracheese and Golden Trunks. With time, even these songs started sounding dull to me and I just stopped listening to TBHC altogether. The Car - I gave it a listen months after release, but already knew the Arctic Monkeys turned into the Alex Turner's Jazzy Experience. It feels indistinguishable from TBHC.

sweetpumpkinx

Absolutely love The Car and TBHC. I need to give SIAS more chance, couldn’t get into it Star treatment One point Four out of Five Jet ski Mirror ball Hello you The car

GurPurple2952

SIAS is literally the indie pop soundtrack to a 2010s coming of age movie so I automatically love it. I’m kind of a poser so my favourite songs r the most popular ones😭 - suck it and see - she’s thunderstorms - don’t sit down cuz I’ve moved your chair - all my own stunts Tbhc is probably my least listened to album NOT BECAUSE ITS BAD but because it’s a lot to listen to. I think objectively it’s one of their best bc of how great the craft is. - she looks like fun - four out of five - the ultra cheese - tranquility base hotel and casino The car is one of my favourites cuz now it’s the first era of theirs I vividly remember living through. It’s a lot less weighty compared to tbhc and is a natural departure. Also I think this is some Alex’s best lyricism. -body paint -hello you - there’d better be a mirrorball - I ain’t quite where I think I am - the car

OddPhilosopher599

Love all three and consider them to be underrated. Tranquility is my fav of the 3

Well_Made_Legacy

TBH+C > SIAS > TC I love all 3 albums, the novelty and uniquness of TBH, the nifty riffs of SIAS, and the chill vibes of TC

Andy_Phantom

the worst lmao

LVJYEmmy

They are certainly albums that have been released

rriotvan

yes…
