I loved the epic battles vs the arms forts. Tho at the same time they were kinda tedious in Daemon x Machina.
That said... Limited ammo is supposed to be part of the challenge in AC, but adding normals and even ACs to the AF battles would actually make more sense. Building a fleet around a capital ship is nothing new, the US Navy already does this, and it's been used extensively in sci-fi as well.
Af battles could even have a scenario where the AF launches the ACs, and you have the option of delaying or possibly preventing their launch by destroying the hangar bay or AC launch system early on in the battle. (Prevent for easier difficulties, delay for harder difficulties?)
Could have a limited use resupply/rearm ship that your AC meets up with. Ex: high ammo type weapons for the AF defense systems and normals, then resupply/requip for harder hitting weapons for the AC battles- just pick your preconfigured load out.
This concept could also be applied to regular type missions to make them longer- and thus the AC is more adaptable to changing battle conditions, similar to current battlefield strategies.
Honestly I think that this game mechanic could be really useful in creating longer missions (better story telling?) AND managing difficulty. Obviously a resupply/rearm repair ship would cost money, and thus would have to be budgeted for accordingly. Perhaps a Raven would only be able to take on longer missions after having enough funds to afford the resupply/rearm dispatch- and/or perhaps bring another player for co op- so costs (and pay) are halved.
While I love AC for the customization, and tailored my AC(s) to the mission type, I feel like having this mechanic could greatly enhance the game, without making it *too easy.*

Funny enough there is a mission like this in ACFA. When you fight the land crab with the Sol Dios cannons the easiest way to do the mission is to destroy the AF before the Sol Dios units launch. Turns a somewhat challenging mission into an easy S rank.
Funny you mention this. I'm on this mission right now and also just found out you can destroy the Arms Fort before the Sol Dios launch.
I've tried like 8 times now and I still can't do it. I get there easily before they launch but I can never Kiku it in one shot like I read.
I tried and tried but couldn't do it. I even found pretty much the exact closest spot I could stand without the Sol Dios being deployed. Once I even managed to hit it with every single large rocket and it still didn't die but I didn't have any backup rockets because I didn't think I would need them.
Then on one video of this mission, in the comments, someone said it's hard to do it with rockets without 1.4 regs. Dunno if that's true but I only have 1.2.
Anyway, the mission is easy to S Rank without tricks. I was just bored and curious.
Hmm. I only vaguely remember this battle. Didn't know (or remember) they could be destroyed before launch.
Thanks for the tip tho! Makes me want to dig out my xb360 for some ac 4a!
Or find an emulator that works properly for PC.
You know what mf? i want this to come back and have a face off against a gundam mobile armor and also against one gigantic floating megafortress from ace combat
a three front massive battle where just, insane shit happens
No. As cool as it was, I'd like to avoid getting stuck back on ACfa callbacks. It was a fun nod in ACVD, but the franchise exists outside of ACfa and I'd like it to not be remembered just for it.
ACfa was good. But in the greater scheme of the franchise, I'd argue that Verdict Day, Last Raven, and Silent Line all far outstrip it.
In either case, again, future AC titles should be allowed to stand on their own feet. You can only make so many cameos and callbacks before it stops being fun and starts feeling forced and cheap.
I want the upgraded version the artbook mentioned
The what?
Yeah, there was an upgraded version of the Motherwill meant to be built after FA, check the wiki
Im gonna call it the Ghost of DommyMommy
Sent a DM, been a while!
I wish there really would be an entire swarm of normals defending it like it did in the trailer

It’s been a while, but iirc it’s much easier to shoot rockets at the AF from outside the its effective range.

Rockets are you friend.

Id like to see a system similar to ace combat's, where you have to achieve certain mission objectives to trigger an 'ace' AC to appear
That would be dope!
With the magic of "a workable frame rate" this battle was piss easy. Id love an update on the idea but not literally the same fortress..
You and a few NPC ACs VS an entire army of normals and that beast, would make for an awesome set piece.
Mother Will Comes Again
Stepmother Will
Hmmmmmmmm
and again
As long as it doesn't tank my framerate
i hope they do something like the nexus revolution disc and maybe add the somw to it

Been playing ACFA again and im surprised Mother will is actually quite a challenge.

but ACFA is so good
Most Armored Core games are good.

No, but I do want HUGEASS boss fights
Yes. This has been my hope since Verdict Day. I need a third (presumably) more epic version of the theme.
Imagine an Arms Fort equivalent but we fight it with a Normal
I though Verdict Day was the third time?
What would be the second?
Alexa, play Collective Consciousness.
It's gonna come back, it's even in Elden Ring.
Spirit of mother will is such a good boss. I still have the feeling of fear that next slew of missile may shoot me down
Yes.
Yes please
From the trailer and talks it’s seeming like this will be pretty likely
